We are currently hiring a Development Director in Westchester, New York and Fairfield, Connecticut. The Director will generate revenue for our Go Red for Women fundraising campaign. This campaign includes our signature Go Red for Women event.

We have a fast-paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities

The Development Director will achieve revenue goals and ensure volunteer leadership is recruited and developed. This will include solicitation of large dollar and multi-year corporate sponsorships, individual donor cultivation, peer-to-peer fundraising, and volunteer committee recruitment for the Go Red for Women campaign . The Director will be held accountable for an overall bold market fundraising goal and carry out high quality campaigns in accordance with Association standards and in collaboration with team.

  • Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Research, identify, and acquire companies as participants and volunteers for the American Heart Association campaigns. Includes building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors to retain and upgrade their financial dedication.

  • Prioritize current corporate customers based on number of employees, current financial support, and relationship with the American Heart Association. Engage, recruit, and mobilize CEOs, corporate leaders, and community leaders to serve on volunteer leadership committees and participate in the event to ensure fundraising and health outcome success. This includes encouraging personal and corporate giving of volunteer leaders, plus peer-to-peer fundraising.

  • Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donors. This includes handling existing and new sponsorships, renewal, and deepening engagement via frequent face-to-face meetings to retain and upgrade their financial commitment.

  • Recruit and lead executive volunteer leadership, volunteer committees, and handle day of the event timeline and business plans. Lead volunteer recruitment and engagement with c-suite executive and manager level volunteers.

  • Handle the annual team cycle for the digital experiences/events including securing corporate participation, goal setting, and motivating team members for the Go Red for Women campaign.

  • Lead and engage new individual membership for our personal giving society, in partnership with other appropriate fundraising staff. Includes planning and implementing regular engagement events for members.

  • Develop profiles of the top businesses within the assigned market with a detailed plan to secure their involvement.

  • Handle event management including but not limited to planning, logistics, implementation, and evaluation post-event for constant improvements.

  • Work with a Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising, sales or equivalent type experience.

  • Knowledge of community organizations, sales, fundraising, and marketing principles, practices, techniques, and trends.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training. Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.

  • Knowledge of forming strategic alliances/partnerships with Fortune 1000 companies or similar type organizations.

  • Able to travel at a moment's notice up to 75% in your local market.

Compensation & Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorship and individual donations. Achieve revenue goals by building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors.

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective corporate sponsors and donors by conducting research that matches to the campaign goals and the Association's mission.

  • Develop and present proposals and accompanying materials to secure revenue and volunteer engagement.

  • Recruit and be responsible for executive volunteer leadership, volunteer committees, and day-of-the-event volunteers and drive peer-to-peer fundraising strategies to achieve overall revenue goals. Secure financial contributions by conducting exploratory meetings and revenue generation-focused sales calls. Coordinate the event auction including leading a committee of volunteers to solicit auction items and prepare packages that will raise funds.

  • Lead and engage new individual membership for our Cor Vitae giving society, in partnership with other appropriate fundraising staff. Includes planning and implementing regular engagement events for members.

  • Plan and implement events in collaboration with internal and external partners.

  • Work with a Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience

  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 90%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis

  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving

  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

Under the direction of the Director, Federal Regulatory Affairs, you would be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and drafting responses to a defined set of federal regulatory issues and representing the American Heart Association before federal agencies. The primary focus of your regulatory work would be the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Core topics would include nutrition, food labeling, and prevention, with the opportunity to assist on other topics as needed. In addition to drafting comment letters, you would work with other advocacy, grassroots, and communications staff to help develop strategies to advance the association's regulatory priorities in these areas. As part of your work, you would serve on internal committees, external workgroups and coalitions, and participate in meetings with federal agency officials and staff. Other duties may include helping prepare senior staff and volunteers for meetings with Administration officials or public meetings, including preparing oral statements and presentations.

Experience gained through direct internal work on American Heart Association projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What is HeartCorps:

HeartCorps is an initiative with Public Health AmeriCorps and the American Heart Association created todrive health equity in rural communities. This service position offers a great opportunity to gain valuable professional public health experience while advancing more equitable health outcomes for your community.

We are seeking full-time and part-time service members to serve up to 11 months startingNovember 4, 2024,to serve at MOWA Band of Choctaw Indians in Mt Vernon, AL .

Responsibilities

What you will do includes:

  • Typically serve full-time Monday - Friday (41.25 hours per week). Some placements may include occasional evening or weekend hours. Part-time opportunities may be available at 25 hours per week.

  • Deliver health education and support patients/community members in navigating the care, community programs and resources on heart health related topics including cardiovascular disease, smoking cessation, nutrition, blood pressure, and chronic diseases such as diabetes.

  • Assist with public health surveys. This may include recruiting participants, administering the survey in-person or via phone, tracking data, and/or running reports.

  • Plan and conduct local health skill building workshops, health fairs, town halls or community conversations - to raise awareness and help community members manage their health.

  • Support patients and community members in initiating and conducting Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring.

  • Host Hands-Only CPR demonstrations for community members.

  • Engage local organizations to help identify and develop resources to support families in accessing chronic disease interventions and/or overall health and wellbeing services.

  • Actively participate in AmeriCorps pre-service orientation, HeartCorps member development meetings and assigned trainings.

Qualifications

Ideal HeartCorps Candidates are:

  • United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien of the United States, at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Able to secure reliable transportation to and from the host site daily and to community-based activities. You will be required to maintain a valid drivers' license as well as at least the minimum automobile liability insurance coverage required by law.

  • Strong written and oral communicators.

  • Customer and solution focused. Good listeners, non-judgmental, open minded, and resourceful.

  • Required to satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria-nationwide check of the National Sex Offender Public website, state criminal history record check, and a fingerprint-based check of the FBI criminal history record database.

  • Experience as health aide or have coursework in public health, health communications, health promotion, or health sciences helpful but not required.

Administrative Support Services

The Event Planning Coordinator is a key element in supporting a cohesive, efficient, and productive workplace. Duties include:

Whether planning a donor reception, a Heart Walk or a Gala experience, the Event Planning Coordinator is responsible for helping to implement a variety of events which will appeal to both current and potential donors. Duties include facilitating logistical aspects of events such as:

  • Securing and coordinating details with vendors for venues, catering, entertainment, AV and staging etc. and ensuring proper Association legal review and approval

  • Implementing and adhering to all Association risk reduction procedures

  • Recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers to assist with projects and events, ensuring a positive experience.

  • Attending in-person events to coordinate set up, execution and tear down

  • Acting as a point of contact for vendors, supporters, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees.

  • Ensuring accuracy and adherence to the latest policies and practices of the Association.

  • Monitoring event budget by coordinating and tracking invoices, expenses, and peripheral accounts.

  • Preparing and distributing reports as requested.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred.

  • 1+ years of prior administrative support experience in related environment;

Healthcare Business Solutions (HBS) is AHA's department for resuscitation science, education, and training, and publisher of the official Guidelines for CPR and ECC. HBS trains millions of people globally every year by educating healthcare providers, caregivers, and the public on how to respond to cardiac arrest and first aid emergencies.

Reporting to the National Senior Development Consultant, our intern will research NICU departments to better understand how new parents are being prepared to save a life prior to discharge from the hospital. The intern will summarize research that will provide insight into strategies to increase access to CPR training for new parents.

Research and Analysis

  • Using various internal and external resources, research NICU hospitals in the assigned region. Identify appropriate points of contact in the NICU department. In partnership with regional Community CPR managers, build necessary tools to capture profile information.

  • Contribute to the development and/or the refinement of assessment tools necessary to capture needs and appropriate data. Manage information captured in a well-organized, easy-to-access data file.

  • Follow protocols established by Data Quality and Reporting Manager.

Project Management

  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize NICU hospitals based on their alignment AHA.

  • Provide summary of research. Assist in the identification of trends and provide input on strategies needed to increase access to CPR training for new parents, their families and friends.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly work plan on best approach to reach out to NICU Discharge Nurses, NICU Directors and other appropriate contacts within the NICU department.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on research findings.

Support Fundraising Strategies

  • Provide research-driven insights to inform fundraising strategies and engagement plans for prospects.

  • Participate in meetings to discuss research findings and contribute to strategic discussions.

The Senior Marketing Analyst will collaborate with executive staff to design analytical dashboard solutions, manage data management applications, analyze campaign results and assess and recommend emerging social and digital media trends.   • Acquires data from sources using Alteryx, Python, Google Analytics, etc.

As an intern supporting our Heart Challenge (CycleNation & Heart Walk) events, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives.

Internship Overview:

Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

Internship Duration:1/21/25 - 5/2/25

Location: Hybrid Position - Intern must be based in the Metro Detroit or the Ann Arbor Area

Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Support: Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics, on-site event management for Heart Challenge events.

  • Event Participant Outreach & Engagement: Conduct pre-event outreach to attendees of social events, conduct follow-up calls to past and current coaches/captains, top fundraising participants, and survivors to support participation.

  • Sponsor Support: Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Data & Reporting: Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes.

  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies.

  • Hands-Only CPR Events: Support the planning and execution of Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, helping promote our mission of creating a world of healthier lives.

Qualifications

- Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.

- Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.

  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

  • Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Canva.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.

  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi connection and reliable transportation.

- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Qualifications

  • Sponsor Support: Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Data & Reporting: Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes.

  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies.

  • Hands-Only CPR Events: Support the planning and execution of Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, helping promote our mission of creating a world of healthier lives.

Qualifications

- Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.

  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

  • Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Knowledge of business letter writing format, style, and protocol

  • Basic knowledge of Canva

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.

  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.

- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to employees within assigned organizations throughout the employee's lifecycle, i.e. conduct check-in calls, assist with creating development plans, process departures

  • Advise employees and managers on various Human Resources programs and procedures, inclusive of responsibilities in the following functional areas: onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement, organizational development, and talent succession.

  • Utilize key HR metrics, data, and reports including lifecycle, employee engagement, and pulse surveys to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in culture, leadership, processes and practices.

  • Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying barriers to performance; implementing and evaluating coaching/development strategies; mentor and counseling managers and employees

  • Create and facilitate virtual leadership and individual contributor trainings.

  • Lead assigned region-wide HR projects and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives including but not limited to the regional New Staff Orientation program and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts.

  • Participate in cross functional projects and maintain strong partnerships with other HR functions - Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, HR Operations, and Total Rewards

Qualifications
