To direct and participate in the concept and design of complex engineering product or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. This role is to help build the foundation of our enterprise engineering and manufacturing Generative AI capabilities. You will work on a wide range of initiatives supporting cutting-edge AI research and development. You will work with a team of architects, engineers and SME's to envision the target state of our capabilities while helping to design and implement key solutions.
Job Duties
This position represents the journey level position within design engineering. The key role of a Sr. Engineer - Design is that of contributor to the planning and delivery of a project. This position will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex engineering and manufacturing tools and processes that use generative or traditional Artificial Intelligence. This position performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems. Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery. Incumbents may work more directly with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams. This requires the ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions made may affect the project team and its delivery of the project. Decisions may significantly impact on negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales, and customer perception.
Success factors for the Sr. Engineer - Design include demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Major challenges facing incumbents are meeting goals for cost, reliability, and performance, and managing multiple priorities. This position must keep up to date on changing customer needs as the project progresses, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers, technologists, and technicians. Incumbents may be expected to bear significant responsibility for completion of a project with major focus on delivery.
Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: design and promote new components and sub processes; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products or processes; perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.
Engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. Key skills to be developed at this level are failure prediction and management, technology time/cost analysis, spatial design, conceptual design, practical application of theory, knowledge of the NPI process, and communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum plus 5+ years of experience or a Master's degree in an Engineering or Computer Science, plus 3+ years of experience or a doctorate degree plus 1+ years of experience.

Familiarity with building large-scale AI products, Generative AI solutions, or platforms for Natural Language Processing, speech, computer vision, or recommendation systems.
Software development experience in support of enterprise-grade solutions.
Experience with cloud platforms and distributed computing for scalable model training.
Ability to iterate rapidly with researchers and engineers to improve product experience.
Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

This role will support Cat Financial's digital experiences through execution of digital initiatives, with primary focus on Cat Card and Cat Credits. This may be accomplished by executing on the vision for Cat Financial's eCommerce experience, collecting requirements from the business, creating prototypes, supporting agile processes, testing and delivery. This will also include change management, user adoption and metrics tracking for the implementation of best-in-class digital offerings for the needed business capabilities.
For industry consulting, a Digital Consultant typically consults 1 to 2 (or equivalent based on size, scope and complexity) industry groups with strong technical knowledge of eBusiness capabilities and businesses they support.
Supports appropriate team members in driving and/or deploying global digital execution within the framework of enterprise tools, processes and strategies. Supports digital projects that identify linkages and synergies across business units, industries and/or Dealers.
Supports proper collaboration, coordination, training, communication and alignment among related areas, projects and strategies within the team and with internal and/or Dealer partners. This role will help coordinate materials and efforts necessary to convey and execute digital strategy with focus on eCommerce acceleration. The Process and Tools group (P&T) leads Caterpillar's Corporate Product Development Processes and owns the software tools that product developers use to build world-class products. We also manage a large quantity of data and we organize that data to find insights that help our internal partners succeed.
Our processes and tools are the foundation of best practices used around the enterprise to ensure defect-free products for our global customers. We work with product developers around the corporation to deploy best practices through training, sharing, tool improvements and data visualizations.

The Process and Tools group (P&T) leads Caterpillar's Corporate Product Development Processes and owns the software tools that product developers use to build world-class products. We also manage a large quantity of data and we organize that data to find insights that help our internal partners succeed.

The Experiential Marketing / Global Trade Shows & Events team is seeking an experienced Event Manager to oversee a team of Event Consultants. Event Consultants strategize, organize and execute special events and tradeshows for various business units within the Enterprise. This is a working manger role as the incumbent will also assist with the planning of large-scale, high-visibility events and trade shows. This role requires a customer-focused individual with strong leadership skills, the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, and a desire to deliver world-class customer experiences.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Lead the Event Consultant team as well as coordinate and execute various tradeshows & events.
Hire and supervise internal and external resources to support the teams & projects success.
Develop team best practices and drive efficiency with the creation of stand work and lean planning principals.
May represent and interface with the executive office, dealer principals, high volume customers and high-profile suppliers both domestically and internationally.
Provide on-site setup and hosting support for the most critical internal and external facing events and tradeshows.
Manage the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.
Oversee project processes and procedures and monitors the productivity and performance of the project team.
Manage all aspects of projects, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing project progress. Ensures adherence to project schedules and completion of project goals.
Prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of projects.
Manage vendor/supplier relationships: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g., vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers).
Work with internal division compliance team to ensure all behaviors and actions align with Enterprise Values in Action.
Skills:
Extensive background in event consulting and project management.
Strong background / knowledge in tradeshow management and execution.

To direct and ensure the proper concept, design and development of the more complex, major engineering and manufacturing product or process projects in generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). This role is to help build the foundation of our enterprise engineering and manufacturing Generative AI capabilities. You will work on a wide range of initiatives supporting cutting-edge AI research and development. You will work with a team of architects, engineers and SME's to envision the target state of our capabilities while helping to design and implement key solutions.
Job Duties
The Sr. Engineering Specialist - Design is a recognized leader and authority in the company in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow but intensely specialized field. In this role, the focus will be on the design and development of the more complex, major engineering and manufacturing product or process projects in generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a major contributor on a multifunctional, worldwide CPPD teams. In addition to demonstrating a mastery of engineering concepts, this position may be expected to lead a project or program to completion. However, major focus is on technical delivery. Direct work with other units, suppliers, customers and teams require the incumbent demonstrate skill in negotiation, building consensus and achieving compromise. Impact of decisions made by this position may be far-reaching, to include the project team or immediate work group, division and/or business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and Caterpillar markets. Decisions may significantly impact warranty, patents, products or processes, technology, costs, sales and customer perceptions.
Strong communication, leadership, project management and business management skills are essential. Major challenges facing incumbents are keeping up to date with technology and demonstrating technical expertise in a specialty area. This position must demonstrate the ability to develop and manage a complex project to plan. Technical leadership skills are essential and the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively across the organization.

Other skills critical to this position are failure analysis and problem-solving skill, spatial and conceptual design skill, product and process definition skill and knowledge of Caterpillar products and those of the competition.
Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum plus 9-12 years of experience or a Master's degree in an Engineering or Computer Science, plus 6-8 years of experience or a doctorate degree plus 1-2 years of experience.

Proven experience in designing and implementing Machine Learning, AI, and Generative AI models.
Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including supervised and unsupervised learning.
Experience with cloud platforms and distributed computing for scalable model training.

Heat Treat Trainee - 3rd Shift (East Peoria Building KK)
Summary: Are you looking for an opportunity to learn a specialized skill within a manufacturing environment? Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is looking to train new employees that desire to become our next employees in Heat Treat. The Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program is a paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and learning new skills. Positions may be available on all shifts after training on 1st shift for 4-6 weeks at the facility. Upon completion of the program, individuals will be responsible for:
Set up, operation and adjustment heat-treat equipment to perform carburizing, cycle annealing and die quenching of gears Physical Qualifications (With or Without Accommodation)
Will work in environment that has extreme temperatures
Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures
Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts
Frequent walking, bending, reaching
Occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing
Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating
Basic Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
Basic computer skills
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends
Desired Qualifications:
Previous heat treat experience
Previous machine shop experience
Top Candidates will also have:
Strong commitment to safety at all times
Excellent attitude and willingness to learn
Additional Information:
This position is 2nd shift in East Peoria Bldg. KK
This is a supplemental position - minimum 40 hours per week with limited benefits available
Pay is $22.25 hr
Relocation is not offered for this position
This position requires no travel.

What You Will Do:
As the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, you will manage the manufacturing engineering expertise and provide guidance to establish the necessary requirements for cost effective manufacturing or assembly processes. Controls plant layouts, machine moves, and new equipment installations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and maintaining and effective organization capable of achieving objectives and supporting manufacturing operations.
Leading assembly, manufacturing processes, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, gaging, and checking equipment, tooling, and work standards.
Managing development, implementation, and continued improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems, and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals and objectives.
Ensuring assigned facilities and methods are provided for the manufacture of products in line with authorized product programs and capacity schedules.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

Leads discussions on the history and evolution of lean manufacturing; cites successes and failures. Establishes and monitors benchmarks for measuring effectiveness of lean. Oversees the implementation of mechanisms for sustaining a culture of lean.
Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage, and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Consults on key issues and considerations for delivering global, distributed processes. Leads discussions on the history and evolution of manufacturing processes. Oversees all activities for the organization's manufacturing environment; establishes best practices and policies. Leads evaluation of accuracy and effectiveness of documented processes versus actual operations. Champions the use of new and emerging manufacturing processes and methodologies.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers environment and site. Leads in interpreting and applying safety and regulatory information throughout the company. Predicts industry and marketplace trends and directions and cites relevant case studies. Mentors' others in monitoring safety performance vis--vis company objectives and industry benchmarks. Educates others in all aspect of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). Designs, develops, or deploys company safety policies and practices across multiple functions.
What Will Set You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
Experience in Automation and industry technologies.
