GENERAL SUMMARY
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for accurately evaluating, diagnosing, preparing, implementing, monitoring and supervising an individually tailored therapy program to maximize performance and obtain treatment goals. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tests, evaluates, treats, diagnoses and prescribes treatment for patients experiencing speech, language, cognition, swallowing and/or communication disorders.
Provides a full range of diagnostic, counseling and rehabilitative services.
Assists in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, protocols to enhance patient outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Provisional license acceptable during Clinical Fellowship; must obtain Virginia license upon completion.
Current Certification of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language, Hearing Associations (ASHA); or if in Clinical Fellowship, must obtain upon completion.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in speech-pathology/communication disorders.
Knowledge of speech-language pathology principles and theories.
Knowledge and experience in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment associated with communication, language and oral-motor disorder.
Ability to meet on call requirements of department.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Manager is responsible for developing processes to assure evidence based clinical outcomes and patient safety initiatives. The manager is responsible for the daily planning, work scheduling and coordination of education, and operational performance. Retains 24-hour responsibility, but may utilize supervisory staff to operationalize activities. The manager is expected to independently carry out assigned responsibilities but seeks guidance from the director and/or upper management given unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation of policy/practice or allocation of funds to resolve. Reports to the Director or Respiratory Care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops strategies for frontline patient safety engagement and accountability.
Facilitates a safe environment and just culture of patient safety through the development and management of activities that reduce the risk of injury to patients, visitors, and stakeholders and promotes reporting of events.
Leads efforts associated with new knowledge and innovation including interdisciplinary quality initiatives (unit specific quality improvement projects, Patient Satisfaction, and Culture of Safety surveys), evidence based practice projects and clinical research.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care. NPS certification required. Must maintain licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of three to five years' experience in pediatric Respiratory Care required.
One to three years' management level experience preferred.
Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to plan, develop, coordinate and maintain a professional work environment.
Must have interpersonal skills to communicate detailed clinical observations and evaluations with other members of the healthcare team.
Must have analytical skills necessary to assess and prioritize care based on assessments.
Besides managerial activities, must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational issues.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain hospital and department policies and procedures and communicate effectively with other professionals.
CPR Training, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) designation required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Engages in activities constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction, clinical guidance and supervision of a licensed physician. This individual will primarily function within the main hospital when work volumes are high, but will be asked to perform duties in clinics when hospital work volumes are low. This individual will occasionally act as a first assistant in the operating room (OR) when the need arises and collaborate with the OR staff to develop the knowledge, skill, and critical thinking necessary to assist in performing a safe operation. Additional responsibilities include conducting hospital rounds, assisting with OR orders and checks, handling Urgent Care OR transfers, and performing hospital and emergency department consults. Runs clinics independently or under physician supervision. Reports to supervising physician(s) and designated manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient patient care activities and accommodative services to support the medical practice with effective utilization of healthcare resources.
Effectively utilizes healthcare resources and communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current State Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) required.
Current NCCPA certification required for PA.
Current certification through ONCB preferred for NP.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two to three years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Two to three years of Pediatric experience preferred.
Previous OR experience preferred.
Required to maintain State licensure, certification (NCCPA) for PA only, and educational and employment application requirements as a PA or NP during employment.
Execution of Non-Competition, Confidentiality and Non Solicitation Agreement required for specialty assigned / hired into.
Ability to travel locally between hospital and clinics required.
PALS training obtained and maintained within 90 days of hire.
CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.

Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years); completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD; graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam); or, completion of a hospital-based training program for unlicensed assistive roles with similar clinical competencies.

Conducts pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
Provides coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location or by task assignment based on operational needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2 - 3 years of related work experience preferred.
Minimum of six months customer service experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/ CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Demonstrates proficiency in computer keyboarding skills required.
Must be able to travel to varying work locations as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Security Officer II provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. In addition to Security Officer I duties, the role requires situational awareness, assessment and interventional skills. The role often entails responding to escalated situations with a focus on de-escalation to prevent injuries and preserve a healthy and safe environment. The Security Officer II works in collaboration with all clinical teams, specifically supporting the mental health programs to maintain a safe and therapeutic clinical environment. Reports to Security Management or designee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the security of buildings and property through regular patrols and reporting.
Ensures patient safety by completing regular environmental assessment and periodic unit rounds.
Investigates incidents that occur on health system property.
Reports as a team member to all hospital behavior emergencies. Responds quickly in a professional and therapeutic manner.
Performs least restrictive verbal and physical de-escalation techniques necessary.
Generates reports and completes follow up on incidents as directed.
Maintains and inspects alarms and safety equipment.
Assists with evacuations in emergency situations requiring strength, stamina and flexibility.
Responsible for Safe Car transport of patients being admitted in coordination with mental health clinicians.
Provides support to ensure a Safety Officer is present as needed for court proceedings.
Assists with patient admissions in a timely, organized and client-centered fashion.
Responsible for visitor management to include providing orientation, screening and badges for entrance.
Participates in debriefing of escalation events.
Assists with patient transitions as needed.
Works to establish a rapport with patients with the goal of de-escalation in mind.
Attends change of shift and unit level huddles as requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent.
At least two years of security officer experience required.
Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting, crisis intervention, de-escalation or hospital environment preferred.
Military or Law Enforcement experience preferred.
Demonstrated computer literacy, loss prevention techniques and positive guest relations skills.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must meet the insurability policy requirements to drive a CHKD vehicle.
Must be able to pass the CHKD driving test within 30 days of employment.
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
CPI Crisis Prevention Training must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and Functional Capacity Screening and annually thereafter.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside and outside the hospital in all weather. Position may require short bursts of running.

Completes non-clinical procedures appropriately under the direction of the RN.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current certification as a nurse assistant, medical technician, medical assistant, or emergency medical technician.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Actively enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program with completion of at least two semesters of clinical rotation.
Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years); completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD; graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam); or, completion of a hospital-based training program for unlicensed assistive roles with similar clinical competencies.
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of a manager, the Sports Physical Therapist performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to orthopedic and sports conditions. Demonstrates excellence in sports physical therapy practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient, student, community and staff education. Reports to Sports Medicine Manager and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the referring physician(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care, modifying treatment as appropriate in accordance with the plan of care.
Monitors and documents response to and outcomes of prescribed care.
Provides sports injury prevention instruction and techniques to patients, parents, coaches and others in the community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current State license as a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist holding a valid Compact State license, or Physical Therapist Applicant awaiting licensure.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Professional knowledge of physical therapy theory and practice. Must possess current CPR certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures.
