JMT is seeking a Mechanical Inspector with Water/Wastewater experience to be assigned from the Pittsburgh, PA Office. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Inspecting all aspects of utility projects including: roads, sewer collection systems, wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, water treatment plants etc.
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to construction requirements and safety regulations
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and safety standards
Assign, schedule and maintain inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
Work on behalf of the Client to resolve construction related field issues
Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner
Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates.
Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance.
Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings
Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies
Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)
Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Demonstrate independent and effective problem solving/decision making.

JMT is seeking a motivated individual who desires increasing responsibilities in designing and managing Water Resources Engineering for a variety of projects. The Water Resources Section Head is responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the Water Resources department in the Virginia Beach Virginia office. The successful candidate will be well-versed across the water resources discipline with demonstrated design and management experience in drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management design, modeling, and permitting with the supporting capabilities to perform a variety of design tasks in the civil engineering and environmental permitting field.
Candidates must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
Successful candidates will be expected to effectively oversee and mentor developing staff and perform and manage a variety of water resource related engineering design and permitting projects. Work assignments could include, but are not limited to, drainage design, stormwater management design, erosion and sedimentation control, permitting, watershed studies, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design/inspection of traditional and innovative green stormwater infrastructure and SWM BMPs in both urban and rural environments, the development of roadway and site grading along with construction staging and sequencing plans.
Assignments will be performed through a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, and standards and processes. The candidate will be expected to manage multiple design assignments, including oversight and direction of design staff and coordination with clients; prepare scopes of work and personnel hour estimates, developing/maintaining project schedules and budgets; analyzing and documenting critical design elements; coordinating with others to determine requirements and incorporating feedback.
Coordination with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, project stakeholders and JMT staff from multiple locations and technical disciplines is expected.

Perform QA/QC review of stormwater management plans, drainage plans, erosion and sediment control plans

Establish resources staffing needs for the section
Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders
Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development
Interview and hire staff for the section
Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams

Project management and business development experience
Experience with MicroStation/AutoCAD

JMT is seeking an Inspector to perform construction inspection of civil projects and building mechanical, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to be assigned from the Pittsburgh, PA Office. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Inspecting all building systems, relating to heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems
Review and interpret plans, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance with mechanical drawings and compliance with applicable mechanical/building codes
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and safety standards
Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner, architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies
Consults with architects and engineers, HVAC contractors, builders, and homeowners on code requirements concerning HVAC systems.
Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance.
Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings
Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies
Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates.
Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations
Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)

4+ years of construction inspection experience, 2+ of which in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
Strong Computer proficiency
Active driver's license
Preferred Experience
Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations
Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Position summary: Responsible for the overall completion of the data processing phase of specific field survey projects.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Performs topographic plotting, terrain modeling, plat preparation, note reduction and design file generation
Perform office survey activities in accordance with Minimum Standards of Practice for Surveying
Operate and supervise the use of all survey equipment including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS and survey vehicles.
Performs office computations necessary for the completion of task assignments including QA/QC.
Tracks job progress
Completes data collector maintenance
Coordinates information for stakeout services
Analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy
Prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records and other survey reports
Communicates the daily progress of the crew towards the project goals and/or accomplishments with the office staff

Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required 20% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.

Vaughn & Melton, a JMT Company, is seeking a Party Chief- Field Surveys to join their Team in Asheville, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing surveying and mapping duties, usually under the direction of an engineer, surveyor, cartographer, or photogrammetrist to obtain data used for construction, map making, boundary location, mining, or other purposes. They may assist with calculations for map making information and assist in creating maps from source data, such as surveying notes, aerial photography, satellite data, or other maps to show topographical features, political boundaries, and other features. They also may verify accuracy and completeness of topographical maps. This position works closely with project engineers creating plans for the construction of various types of transportation and civil/site projects including, but not limited to, the following: roadways, bridges, parks, commercial and private developments. The position will also be required to work closely with land survey crews in the preparation of topographic and boundary surveys as well as construction stake-out and as-built surveys. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features
Compile geographic, political, and cultural information and prepare maps of large areas; record the results of surveys, verify the accuracy of data, and assist with the preparation of plots, maps, and reports
Collect data in the field and calculate mapmaking information for use in performing computations and computer-aided drafting
Research legal records, look for evidence of previous boundaries, and assist with the analysis of the data to determine the location of boundary lines
Understand the use of Global Positioning System (GPS), laptops, and computer software for surveying
Accompanies and oversees work of field crews, conducting complete assignments or portions of a large and diverse project while organizing field operations and collecting data to ensure efficacy and accuracy
Reviews project specifications and confers with engineer and surveyor concerning assistance required such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reports
Performs non-routine assignments involving substantial variety and complexity
Performs surveying duties not requiring licensure
Computes volumes and prepares graphs
Performs supervisory responsibilities on a job specific basis

Required Skills
Ability to use applicable software programs required for gathering field data and organizing data for submission to the Land Surveyor. Uses Computer Assisted Drafting software
Mathematical Skills including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Knowledge of all positions on the crew and capability to utilize all equipment
Required Experience

3 + years' experience in a surveying
Experience with Total Stations and data collectors, preferably Trimble, TDS and Carlson, and GPS receivers
