The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist to lead project teams and to execute projects aligned to critical business priorities. These projects will generate financial results and drive process improvement and efficiency.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional projects designed to analyze and design sequence of operations and work flows to improve efficiencies.

  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.

  • Develop and implement plans and programs for advanced manufacturing processes and facility modifications to reduce labor hours and costs of manufacturing through Lean Manufacturing.

  • Interfaces with other departments to identify improvement opportunities for driving high quality and efficient processes

  • Mobilizes problem solving teams and supports groups to streamline processes

  • Facilitates kaizen events to drive continuous improvements in operations and office areas, including effective preparation and follow-up

  • Participates on multiple projects and applies continuous improvement techniques leveraging Lean Six Sigma methodologies to solve problems and build new capabilities.

  • Shares best practices and develops coordinated plans.

  • Be a change agent: challenge organizational leaders to drive continuous improvements and remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement processes.

  • Assist in development of long-range vision for 'next-generation' manufacturing plant.

  • Apply Best in Class benchmarks, cost analysis, Lean Six Sigma techniques to study manufacturing systems and operations. Identify cost and quality improvement projects.

  • Work with product engineering and development functions to enable successful product launch and VOD/VAVE initiatives

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • BS/BA Degree or Equivalent

  • 5+ years of successful leadership in executing continuous improvement / Lean Six Sigma efforts and enabling efficiency, effectiveness and tangible financial benefit

  • Hands-on and demonstrated experience with continuous improvement programs including employment of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies

  • Experienced in problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma, A3's, 5 Why, 8D's and Fishbone diagrams, as well as creating documents such as FEMA's, PFMEAs, control plans and flow charts

  • Facilitated or participated in at least 2 separate week long kaizen events while performing proper preparation and follow up

  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining detailed project plans for large scale projects

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

  • Demonstrated experience with ensuring effective Change Management development and execution

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LSS Black Belt or Lean Master certification

  • 5-10 years' experience within a manufacturing industry that does machining, assembly, and welding.

  • Experience working in union environments

  • ERP/MRP knowledge and experience

  • Robust knowledge of MS office applications including Project and Visio

The Role: The position will work closely with Utility SE Regional Sales Manager to provide directed support in all aspects but primarily assisting them with project management, customer training, trade shows, startup and on site trouble shooting at water and waste water treatment facilities throughout the SE region. SE Region consists of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. Location within this region is required.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support Utility Regional and National Sales Managers in achieving their goals.

  • Provide timely and consistent communication with SE RSM and NSM.

  • Support Sales Initiatives and Campaigns as directed by National Sales Manager.

  • Provide timely technical support to customers/representatives regarding YSI/MJK/OI TOC water quality instrumentation via phone calls, emails and site visits.

  • Recommend Xylem product solutions based on customer's application needs.

  • Provide competitive selling information to customers (why buy YSI vs. competitor).

  • Maintain YSI customer database (Oracle and Sales Force.Com).

  • Manage key customer relationships.

  • Attend trade shows, conferences, visit customers, perform training seminars and provide technical service/start up as needed.

  • Manage regional demo inventory and demo placements.

  • Enter customer leads into Salesforce for marketing follow up.

The Role: The Mechanical Product Engineer will perform a mission critical role in solving technical challenges in support of sustaining daily business needs and champion cost savings through managing value engineering activities as well as supporting new product development through manufacturing engineering & should cost analysis.

  • Work with Operations department to identify, scope and create deliverables for key projects

  • Create or modify product collateral including drawings, BOM, O&M, etc. while performing product maintenance activities

  • Perform daily business support to Quality, Engineered to Order, Procurement, and Service Teams

  • Support new product development by leading should cost analysis with our Tech. Center team

  • Lead the scope development of value engineering projects and oversee execution of value engineering projects with our Tech. Center team

The Role: The Project Accountant is responsible for providing a solid foundation of project analytics ensuring fiscal health of assigned projects as well as partnering with project managers to support successful decisions and outcomes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conducting a cost variance analysis to project budgets and other ad-hoc project analyses in support of the Project Managers and other users;

  • Leading detailed project review meetings on a regular basis

  • Proactively making recommendations and implementing agreed upon improvements to processes and reports

  • Researching unbilled/unrecovered costs to optimize the billing possibilities for the future and making recommendations to management;

  • Perform reconciliations of Project related balance sheet accounts.

  • Communicating with Project Managers contract conditions, change orders, billing schedules, and any additional services-related to billing

  • Preparing draft/final invoices (including applicable supporting documentation) for all billable projects in accordance with project specific billing requirements

The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Field Process Engineer to work with a dynamic team of engineers. A Field Process Engineer conducts water and wastewater treatment studies by applying unit processes of Coagulation/Flocculation, Clarification, Filtration, Denitrification and others at selected testing sites and maintains an office of record at the company's primary business location for report writing and other assigned duties. The Field Process Engineer is also expected to be able to design, prepare technical drawings, and build experimental set-ups (bench and/or pilot scale). Field deployments of 2 to 4 weeks are not uncommon and total field deployment time in excess of 20 weeks in a given year may be experienced.

We are looking for a self-motivated, initiative-taking individual with a can-do attitude and eagerness to learn and build expertise in water/wastewater treatment processes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain and repair mobile and stationary pilot test equipment including pumps, mixers, instruments, valves, chemical delivery systems, control systems and other equipment associated with the company's field-testing units

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of water treatment & control processes

  • Design, draw and build bench or pilot scale test set-up

  • Conduct water analyses in a laboratory environment or in field using bench top and process analysis equipment

  • Conduct water treatment studies using bench scale lab equipment

  • Conduct assessments of full scale installations and prepare reports with process and mechanical recommendation

  • Work within Xylem and customers to arrange transportation of pilot systems to and from the field

  • Conduct process startups and performance tests on pilot scale test installations

  • Prepare pilot operation and maintenance manuals, train and guide clients on the pilot operation and maintenance

  • Assemble and prepare pilot testing reports

  • Other associated duties that may be assigned

  • Participate in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities\

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret project electrical schematics and specifications

  • Develop scope of supply for electrical control components and prepare bills of material

  • Perform electrical & controls troubleshooting of pilots

  • Read and develop P&ID diagrams for pilots

  • Assist senior controls engineers with Allen Bradley PLC & HMI development and programming to be used in pilots

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • B.S. in Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel

  • Possess good written communication, oral communication, and good reading comprehension skills in the English language

  • Working knowledge of OR willingness to work with pumps, valves, instruments, and electrical and control systems

  • Experience and knowledge of OR willingness to work with common hand and power tools

  • Understanding of safeguards and general working knowledge with 230/ 460 volt - 3 phase and 120/ 240 volt - single phase powered equipment

  • Ability to disassemble, repair and/ or replace malfunctioning equipment

  • Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD knowledge is preferred but not required

  • Prior lab experience with general understanding of how to use a pipette and common lab equipment is preferred

The Role: The Project Accountant is responsible for providing a solid foundation of project analytics ensuring fiscal health of assigned projects as well as partnering with project managers to support successful decisions and outcomes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conducting a cost variance analysis to project budgets and other ad-hoc project analyses in support of the Project Managers and other users;

  • Leading detailed project review meetings on a regular basis

  • Proactively making recommendations and implementing agreed upon improvements to processes and reports

  • Researching unbilled/unrecovered costs to optimize the billing possibilities for the future and making recommendations to management;

  • Perform reconciliations of Project related balance sheet accounts.

  • Conducting full-cycle project accounting for multiple projects of differing contract values and complexities

  • Reviewing and communicating contracts and purchase orders

  • Communicating with Project Managers contract conditions, change orders, billing schedules, and any additional services-related to billing

  • Setting up fees, consultants, and cost breakdowns on new projects following Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

  • Preparing draft/final invoices (including applicable supporting documentation) for all billable projects in accordance with project specific billing requirements

  • Reviewing the accuracy of labor and costs expensed to assigned projects and reallocate if required;

  • Providing Work-In-Progress analysis (WIP) on a regular basis

  • Assisting Project Managers in developing project budgets and performing actual to budget variance analysis

  • Prepare monthly billing forecasts; Assist Project Managers with forecast expectations by reconciling current billing forecasts versus prior month accruals.

  • Advising accounts payable on coding project related invoices

  • Providing quarterly support of external auditor requirements, which may include research and reconciliation

  • Performing month-end activities which include but are not limited to, revenue and cost recognition, accruals, and account reconciliation

  • Assisting the delivery team to understand the net impact from month to month of any accrual adjustments and how they impact forecast

  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Five + years of hands on detailed, project accounting experience preferably in an engineering services or technology industry.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in spreadsheets and project accounting software.

  • Thorough knowledge of standard contract terms and how they are applied in the billing process.

  • Experience with revenue recognition policies related to contract and performance matters.

  • Ability to work well with others and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.

  • Responds well to changes in priorities without compromising quality of work.

  • Polished written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.

  • Strong customer service orientation, both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvement and problem solving.

  • Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment.
