They are also assisting with the Hourly rounding completed on each unit. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are a must. Position also involves cross training as a Unit Secretary. This is a great opportunity for a current nursing student to gain experience in the nursing field.

POSITION SUMMARY Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. 2. Fills physician orders. Replenish medication surgical kits, automated dispensing machines, and stock requisitions accurately. 3. Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition where applicable) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques. Only Pharmacy Technicians who have completed all required competencies will prepare intravenous admixtures 4. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations; Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques 5. Assists in completing all medication inspections and identifies and removes all outdated and unusable medications. 6. Collaborates with other health care professionals in meeting departmental goals. Establishes and maintains mechanisms for communication and constructive problem solving with staff. Utilizes a team approach in decision-making and problem solving. Build trust and mutual respects. 7. Performs training of new employees and in-services current employees in areas of specialization and/or expertise. 8. Is routinely responsible for special assignments in the area of continuous quality improvement and other projects as assigned by a supervisor. 9. Provides proper notification for absence or tardiness. 10. Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationships with nursing and other hospital employees, patients, and their families. 11. Performs all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and responsible manner. 12.   • Ensures that specimens received in the laboratory are handled properly as to identification, numbering and preparation as smears or cell blocks.

  • Makes initial diagnosis on all cytopathology consultations.

  • Makes final diagnosis on all negative gynecological material; refers all abnormal gynecological material and all non-gyn material to pathologist for final diagnosis.

  • Utilizes laboratory computer information system to enter results correctly and enter necessary QC/QA information. Must be able to retrieve necessary patient information.

  • Recommends changes in procedures to address quality issues and provide customer satisfaction.

  • Participates in formal and informal education as related to clinical cytology and cytopathology. Maintains expertise through attendance of continuing education programs for personal growth and development.

  • Functions in a collegial and collaborative relationship with laboratory staff and other medical professionals in other departments, including radiology, OPC, surgery and oncology, to manage and plan for patients.

  • Records and maintains accurate records regarding slides screened and hours required for screening.

POSITION SUMMARY

Utilizes radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides in performing diagnostic imaging, in vitro and in vivo testing, radiotherapy, and radiation safety.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Demonstrates competency and proficiency in imaging procedures performed on patients of all ages including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to practice radiation safety using the proper detection equipment and dosimetry, thereby limiting the radiation exposure to the patient, public, associates and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the safe and proper handling of radioactive materials.

  • Performs procedures according to physicians' orders and indication by ensuring the proper preparation of the patient and schedule of examinations to be completed. Administer radiopharmaceuticals using an aseptic technique, after verifying correct patient, proper radiopharmaceutical, dose, and completing appropriate documentation.

  • Seeks to provide a high quality exam by properly completing patient medical history, charting, and documenting dose, following department policy and procedure, and providing the necessary images/data. Demonstrates competency in using the radiology information and imaging systems (RIS, PACS, etc.) as well as hospital information systems (Insight, Pt. Transportation System, iCare, etc.) for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies and other data input.

  • Maintains work area with inventory and in a clean and orderly manner and notifies supervisor of needed pharmaceuticals and supplies. Utilizes quality control techniques as part of the quality assurance program for all procedures and products in the department. Operates equipment according to policy and alerts appropriate individual to malfunctions.

  • Meets continuing education requirements, completes hospital required in-services, participates in research activities and trains assigned students, being accountable for their actions. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain their nuclear medicine registry/license.

  • Demonstrates high levels of care, courtesy and cooperation. Educates patient about their procedure and ensures patients and their families' comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner. Accountabilities:

  • Identifies patients that may be at nutrition risk based on hospital protocol.

  • Obtains accurate and timely nutritional history from patient and/or family using appropriate interviewing techniques.

  • Performs age-specific nutrition assessments for our diverse patient population based on historical, clinical and lab data, including nutrition focused physical assessment when indicated to identify patients at risk of malnutrition.

  • Provides appropriate interventions and initiates individualized nutrition care plans utilizing the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 'Nutrition Care Process'.

Required Qualifications:

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to unit manager. Works under supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with other health care professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY

One on one nursing preceptorship to enhance nursing knowledge, awareness of nursing role, enhancing confidence, acclimation to environment, and socialization to the team. Under supervision of RN preceptor and in collaboration with other care professionals, assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Work one on one with a registered nurse preceptor under direct supervision in the clinical setting. Engage in required didactic educational assignments as scheduled. Participation in progress evaluations required.

Upon completion of the orientation requirements, the nursing apprentice is required to work a minimum of 24 hours a month as a nursing apprentice until transition into the nursing residency in addition to ongoing educational requirements. If a nursing apprentice does not accept or receive a residency position during the designated hiring period for their anticipated graduation date, their position as a nursing apprentice will be transitioned out of the nursing apprentice program and into another appropriate position as available.

Must maintain enrollment in accredited nursing program during Nursing Apprenticeship with exception of graduation from the program and awaiting to take NCLEX exam.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise

  1. Nursing Apprentice works under direct supervision of an RN preceptor

  2. Perform duties related to nursing care and nursing process as noted in Table A: Role Functions of the Nursing Apprentice.

    ASSESS

    - Data collection & documentation of patient health status

    - Reports observations about patient's condition to RN & physician

    - Communicates with RN regarding the organization of assignments based on priorities

    IMPLEMENT

    - Perform skills, treatments or interventions provided they have performed successful educational validation and delegation of RN preceptor

    - Observes & discusses medication administration, IV therapy by the RN & other skills/interventions not authorized for Nursing Apprentice to perform

    - May not receive physician orders

    - May not delegate or supervise care

    EVALUATE

    - Reports noted changes to the registered nurse.

    - Participate in personal clinical and didactic evaluation process

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and successful completion of first clinical semester.

    Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) completed within orientation period.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Personal Protective Equipment: Must Demonstrate knowledge and use of standard precautions and personal protective equipment.
