SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal AWS Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing Oracle and Postgres databases, as well as extensive experience with AWS managed databases including RDS, Aurora and Redshift. This role requires a deep understanding of database failover and recovery, backups, migration of on-premises databases to AWS, and proficiency with AWS CloudWatch. The successful candidate will be passionate about ensuring database performance, availability, and security, and experienced in handling data warehouses.

Job Responsibilities:

. Database Management: Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of databases.

. Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required to ensure optimal performance.

. Failover and Recovery: Design and execute database backup and recovery strategies, including failover planning and testing.

. Migration and Upgrade: Lead migration projects from on-premises databases to AWS, including planning, execution, and validation of database migrations and upgrades.

. Security and Compliance: Ensure database security measures are in place, including access controls and audit logging. Comply with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

. Data Warehousing: Manage and optimize AWS Redshift instances and other data warehousing solutions for scalable and efficient data storage and analysis.

. Monitoring: Utilize AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools to ensure database health, performance, and to automate scaling and notifications.

. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide high-level support for complex database issues, including troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, etc.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 9 years' experience; Master's degree and 7 years' experience.

The Systems Engineer will support the entire SAIC effort in support of systems requirements definition, architecture analysis, design analysis, which includes, but is not limited to:

• Conduct a range of modeling, simulation, and analysis in areas such as operational mission scenarios, maneuvers, and situational awareness

• Develop and mature analysis system and software tools

• Provide technical expertise in the modeling and analysis of military vehicle systems and their broader system-of-systems architectures

• Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system and architecture alternatives to inform customer investment decisions/recommendations

• Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to define system functions and develop functional and performance requirements

• Lead subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process of developing and coordinating system level specifications

• Prepare and present engineering analysis, gaps, and recommendations to senior leadership and/or design reviews
