Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years);
Completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD;
Graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam);
Completion of a hospital-based training program for unlicensed assistive roles with similar clinical competencies; or
Certification as a nurse assistant.

Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
- CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working condition due to performance of certain patient care activities.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under direct departmental supervision, and following established policies, procedures and regulations, assists with various technical procedures, and performs skills including but not limited to establishing IV access, phlebotomy, specimen collection, splint application, and transporting of patients. Responsible for providing assistance in routine patient care and medically related administrative support activities in the Emergency Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic patient care and clinical procedures appropriately under the direction of the RN.
Performs phlebotomy, specialized skills, specimen collection and IV procedures as directed by the RN.
Documents and communicates pertinent information ensuring confidentiality of patient records.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
EMT-Advanced, EMT-I, EMT-P, or EMT-Basic required. Must have current certification relevant to position description upon hire.

Ability to interpret type and level of patient care ordered.
Provide a variety of clinical treatments.

Crisis Management-

Provides emotional first aid and de-briefing to individual patients and groups after behavioral escalations.

Oversees Emergency Department mental health flow by acting as a liaison between provider, charge nurse, bedside nurse, evaluating therapist, admission staff, parent and child.
Provides evidence-based skills coaching, behavioral modification and direct observation to pediatric patients with mental health diagnoses. Assistance in application of restraint when deemed medically necessary and ordered by treating physician.
Completes nursing tasks (Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Vital Signs, nutrition, patient weights), as delegated by the RN, for medically involved clients.
Maintains compliant and safe environment of care including stocking, setting up rooms for admission and general cleaning.
Attends change of shift and unit level huddles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the selection, training, orientation and competency validation of designated personnel.
Supervises, plans, develops and organizes services and activities to support medical practices.
Works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the practice physician(s).
Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support the medical practice.
Demonstrates excellence in nursing practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current Virginia state license as a Practical Nurse (LPN) or Practical Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Technical and professional knowledge and skills for clinical operations of the service area usually acquired through 3 - 5 years' progressive Clinical/Supervisory experience in a practice setting.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
Pediatric experience preferred.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Functions under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks. Reports to department management.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant preferred, or military medical experience with MA certification/registration required.
Current CPR certification required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an approved school for Medical Assistants (MOA, MAA, MA).
One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Patient Registration Technician greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area or through telecommunication devices. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems. Performs patient scheduling, registration processes, insurance verification, maintains account information, co-payments, referrals, authorizations, and billing inquiry functions. Reports to Manager/Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Renders exceptional customer service to parents, patients, visitors and co-workers.
Serves as patient liaison for healthcare services.
Assists in maintaining medical records, filing systems, account balances and reconciliation of days accounts receivable.
May perform charge entry and charge batching processes as necessary.
Provides clerical and secretarial support.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
None required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years related work experience preferred.
Ability to relate well with the public.
Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
Knowledge of computer data entry processes required.
General knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for accurately evaluating, diagnosing, preparing, implementing, monitoring and supervising an individually tailored therapy program to maximize performance and obtain treatment goals. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tests, evaluates, treats, diagnoses and prescribes treatment for patients experiencing speech, language, cognition, swallowing and/or communication disorders.
Provides a full range of diagnostic, counseling and rehabilitative services.
Assists in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, protocols to enhance patient outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Provisional license acceptable during Clinical Fellowship; must obtain Virginia license upon completion.
Current Certification of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language, Hearing Associations (ASHA); or if in Clinical Fellowship, must obtain upon completion.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in speech-pathology/communication disorders.
Knowledge of speech-language pathology principles and theories.
Knowledge and experience in the administration of a variety of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment associated with communication, language and oral-motor disorder.
Ability to meet on call requirements of department.
