Job Summary

This position will be responsible for Substation Protection and Control Conceptual Design , scope of work and estimates for Dominion's Electric Transmission and Electric Distribution Substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or modify Protection and Control design documents and drawings for substation projects including the relay functional diagrams and relay panel arrangement drawings.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplined teams (including but not limited to Substation Engineers, Transmission Line Engineers, System Protection Engineering, Data Communications Engineering, Standards Engineering, Transmission & Distribution Planners, Electric Transmission Field Operations, Project Managers) to fully develop the Protection & Control scope of work.

  • Create project cost estimates using material and labor costing database for the Protection & Control portion of projects. Make necessary updates to the database to improve accuracy and consistency.

  • Develop Conceptual Engineering Estimate Packages for projects and support the Project Managers to take proposed projects through the project approval process.

  • Facilitate smooth transition of the conceptual design to detail engineering and construction team.

  • Provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed. Provide assistance to less experienced engineers and technicians in conceptual engineering, detail engineering and the field.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant work engineering experience. Prefer three years of work experience in Protection & Control applications

Engineer III: 5+years of relevant work engineering experience. Prefer five years of work experience in Protection & Control applications

Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years relevant work experience

Engineering Technical Specialist III : 5+ years relevant work experience

  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of substation components and their functions

  • Firm understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment

  • Ability to read, interpret, and modify one-line diagrams, relay functional diagrams, elementary diagrams, panel wiring diagrams and communications diagrams.

  • Familiarity with electromechanical and microprocessor-based Protection & Control systems

  • Some drafting experience preferred. Experience with AutoCAD or Microstation is a plus

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices

  • Planning, organizational and project management skills

  • Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment, but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments

  • Effective decision-making skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education Requirements

For Engineer II / III: Bachelor's or higher in Engineering (see other required engineering criteria below)

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

For Engineering Technical Specialist II/III: Preferred Bachelor's degree

In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

  • 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or

  • 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license is preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus

Provides expert technical support, direction and advice in analyzing and evaluating plant systems and their impact on monitored emissions. Responsibilities include the development of new programs needed for maintenance or production. Utilizes computer technology in analysis of operating performance data to verify plant systems/components are operated and maintained as required by company policies and procedures and regulatory agencies. Performs technical evaluations of events and root cause analysis to recommend corrective action.

This role will be directly involved with preparing and reviewing written reports for submission to regulatory agencies within the applicable regulatory deadline.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of CEMS/COMS operation, maintenance, and design (5+ years) OR directly related work experience (5+ years). This advanced knowledge of CEMS/COMS is necessary to create Excess Emissions Reports, create Monitoring Plans, review Test Protocols, review Audit Reports, support CEMS/COMS equipment upgrades, and other reporting activities.

  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of design and operation of complex systems and equipment which may be indicated by advanced certification or licenses.

  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of engineering theories and principles related to power plant emissions.

  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of EPA AIR regulations that apply to Electric Generating Units (EGUs) including 40CFR60 NSPS sections D, Da, Db, GG, and KKKK; 40CFR75 and Appendices A, B, D & F.

  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include skilled in technical writing and preparation of technical documentation.

  • Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs.

  • Excellent organization and project management; skilled in evaluation techniques.

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis to determine the most probable cause of problems and undesired events, and to develop recommendations and corrective actions.

Job Summary

The Service Department is responsible for servicing and installing various natural gas appliances (residential and commercial), setting and maintaining residential and light commercial meters, restoring gas service to customers, and responding to after-hours and emergency calls.

This position:

- Assists in the installation of natural gas appliances, meters, and facilities in an efficient and safe manner while achieving excellent customer service.

- Uses Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to distribute and route work orders to computers mounted in company vehicles.

- Lights gas pilots on natural gas residential and/or commercial appliances.

- Completes minor appliance repairs.

- Runs customer fuel lines.

- Completes appropriate paperwork in writing and on the computer.

- Safely drives a company vehicle.

This position reports to the Company's Asheville Operations Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Trainee Service (0-6 months)

Installation Specialist IV (18 months)*

- Must have knowledge and skills with common hand and power tools.

Under direction of supervisor or work leader, performs routine assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices and the nature of engineering systems, equipment, etc. and to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

SPECIFIC to this role: The position is responsible for load planning, contingency planning, long term planning, and reliability performance for the delivery system. The successful incumbent will work with our Distribution System Modeling Engineers to analyze load and reliability data and develop appropriate solutions to improve the architecture of the delivery system by mitigating overload conditions and enhancing reliability, either at the device level, circuit level or substation transformer level.

At Engineer III level of proficiency within this classification, incumbents are generally expected to provide technical expertise, team leadership, guidance to less experienced engineers or engineering technical specialists, and have a diverse knowledge of electric T&D engineering principles and practices.

Primary Responsibilities for Both:

  • Support the Grid Planning Modeling Team on developing annual facility load projections for both distribution circuits and transformers

  • Support the Grid Planning Modeling Team on identifying normal thermal overload conditions on distribution circuits and distribution substation transformers through load projections

  • Utilize Synergi (Distribution Software) to preform load flow modeling for switching and reliability performance on the electric distribution system

  • Understand summer and winter substation transformer contingency concepts

  • Understand protective device defeat at peak settings (DAP) for Loop Scheme automation

  • Develop Project Scopes and estimates to solve thermal overload conditions that occur at peak operating times

  • Develop Project Scopes and estimates to improve service reliability, power quality issues, and equipment failures

  • Support preventive maintenance programs; thermography, switch and recloser replacements on the distribution system

  • Review detailed project scopes and cost estimates for identified solutions for DG Interconnects on circuits and substations in your grid planning areas

  • Perform voltage study analysis using Synergi (Distribution Software) and recommend corrective actions on existing circuits or proposed circuits.

  • Provide technical assistance to ROC and Operations on circuit or transformer planned outages or emergency outages when requested

  • Respond to customer, corporate, and regulatory inquiries. Prepare supporting correspondence, reports, and presentations

  • This position requires candidates to go out into the field to develop detailed project scopes, perform circuit patrols, perform infrared circuit patrols, use a phase tracking tool, and travel to company local offices to meet with operations team members

  • Perform other duties which include participating in Storm Restoration and other required operational activities

The Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Field Operations Organization is seeking a highly motivated Electrical EquipmentTechnician to support operations of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm. The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm is located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia with a net generating capacity of approximately 2,600 MW. Job Summary

Dominion Energy seeks a Quality Inspector or Senior Quality Inspector to join the Nuclear Oversight team at the VC Summer Power Station in Jenkinsville, SC. Our VC Summer Power Station was recently awarded its 14th Excellence Award from the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Excellence (INPO).

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities

Quality Inspector:

Perform inspections, written observations and nondestructive examinations (NDE) of nuclear plant systems, structures and components (SSC) to verify that work performed meets regulatory requirements, codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures.

Responsible for the initiation of corrective actions to address discrepancies/non-conformances identified during the performance of inspection/examination activities.

Review and interpret codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures for appropriate quality requirements including inspections.

May perform other organizational duties such as dispatching, on-call and nightshift as required.

In addition to the duties listed above the Senior Quality Inspector will:

Assist subordinate inspectors with problem identification and resolution.

Analyze data, maintain records, develop inspection plans and various reports such as department tracking data reports.

May conduct Oversight surveillances and assessments and assist in audits.

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

Quality Inspector:

Required qualifications:

- 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience, plus 3 years directly related experience with Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C Maintenance activities.

- Possess the education and experience to be able to be qualified as a Level II inspector in accordance with ASME NQA-1-1994 Edition, Appendix 2A-1

Preferred qualifications:

- 2 years of nuclear power plant experience

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge in most areas of inspection requirements and techniques.

Knowledge of power station systems and components.

Knowledge of NRC regulations and industry codes and standards.

Good written and verbal communication skills

Good computer skills

Good interpersonal skills

Ability to quickly process, analyze and interpret information.

Ability to lift up to 45 lbs., manual dexterity, color vision, hearing, stooping, standing and bending.

Ability to gain unescorted access to a Nuclear power station.

Ability to certify in all disciplines of Quality Inspection and NDE methods.

Senior Quality Inspector:

Required qualifications:

- 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience, plus 5 years directly related experience with Mechanical, Electrical or I&C maintenance activities

- Certified level II or Level III in accordance with ASME NQA-1-1994 Edition, Appendix 2A-1 requirements in at least 2 of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Welding or Civil (including coatings)

Preferred qualifications:

- 5 years of nuclear power plant experience

- Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle non-destructive examination methods

In addition to the other knowledge, skills, and abilities for the Quality Inspector, the Senior Quality Inspector should also have:

Full knowledge of areas of inspection requirements and techniques.

Full knowledge of power station systems and components.

Full knowledge of NRC regulations and industry codes and standards.

Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience.

Job Summary

The Asset Management Analyst or Asset Management Senior Analyst role supports the operations and/or the investment functions of Dominion's Asset Management Group and will perform the following functions on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Gas Operations Representative I

Responsibilities:

  • Responds to all emergency calls such as gas leaks, gas related fire calls, evacuations, asphyxiation and broken gas lines.

  • Assists in construction, maintenance, street repair, installing new gas lines and performing plastic pipe fusion including electro-fusion on IHP services and mains (possibility of working in gaseous atmosphere in a fire suit).

  • Installs, maintains, and inspects meter protection and snow shelters.

  • May require digging out meters in heavy snow fall areas.

  • May provide field and classroom training for Gas Operations employees, related to knowledge and skills essential to enable Operations employees to serve natural gas customers.

Job Summary

This facility will begin construction in 2024 construction and expected to begin commercial operations in the winter of 2026.

The successful Logistics Supervisor candidate will direct all relevant logistics processes on shore at the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm Maritime Operations Center and be able to perform the duties noted below in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, codes, and regulatory requirements:

  • Define logistics processes (warehousing, transportation, packaging, handling, delivery) for OSW technical components.

  • Define logistics and marine coordination processes for delivery of OSW personnel to conduct scheduled/unscheduled maintenance.

  • Establish scheduling that ensures 24X7 OSW Marine Coordination.

  • Leading Safety/Quality Culture onsite.

  • Report any HSE, Quality, etc...violations to the Site Manager (SM) immediately.

  • Drive continuous process improvements.

  • Training assessments (technical and non technical)

  • Conduct performance reviews for Marine Coordinators and Power Store Keepers

  • Assure the on-shore team is working Safely, performing the work according to the work instructions, and working efficiently.

  • Site level communication with the offshore teams.

  • Escalate any human performance concerns to the O&M Manager.

  • Escalate technical issues to the O&M Manager, or directly communicate with first and second level support teams.

  • Perform site inventory as required.

  • Order consumables and other office supplies, as needed or as directed by the O&M Manger.

  • Assure proper packaging, labeling, etc...of parts to be shipped off site.

  • Be self-motivated, able to think quickly and address issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have offshore wind power generation start-up experience or experience with coordinating marine activities.

Required: Appropriate candidates should possess at least 10 years power station, military or commercial marine background, with supply chain/command center/vessel support experience being preferred.

Preferred: At least 10 years of supervising personnel in power station, Offshore Wind, marine coordination or supply chain management.

Job Summary

  • This position ensures that appropriate compliance maintenance activities, applications, policies, and associated documentation are managed and maintained in support of ETFO's Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Protective Relay and Control (PRC) programs

  • Maintenance activities include instruction/guidance in routine cleaning, calibration and functional operational testing of all primary electro-mechanical and microprocessor protection applications

  • Assists during routine testing and functional verification of all communications equipment including data, fiber optic, and power line carrier

  • Assists during functional operational testing of substation auxiliary equipment and verification of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data systems that provide the operating centers with real time operating and alarm information

  • Assists with protective relay and control equipment repairs

  • Installation activities include assisting Lead/Senior technicians' functional verification of all primary and secondary equipment as designed by Dominion and its manufacturers

  • Corrective activities include assisting Lead/Senior technicians in analyzing alarms, identifying potential problems, and developing safe and effective basic corrective action investigation plans

  • Activities regarding potential cyber issues related to protection and control devices require that security assessments be performed to verify the integrity of cyber security control at substation locations

  • Successful candidate must be able to report to service territory within 1 hour

System Protection Technician T1:

Job Summary

VC Summer Nuclear station is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer I, II, or III OR Engineering Technical Specialist I, II, or III (role will be filled commensurate with experience) in Jenkinsville, SC. Position is responsible all conventional and risk aspects of Fire Protection Engineering as part of Dominion's V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant Design Engineering group. Will perform/review engineering calculations, analysis, research and design changes. Project support activities such as system specifications, design and bid evaluations, construction walkdowns, and participation in a review of system final acceptance tests. The position will also interface with regulators during inspections.

Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Distinguished from Engineer I by increased complexity in application of engineering skills required. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables.
