Job Summary

The Offshore Wind team is looking for an Engineering intern for the summer of 2024. The position will be based out of our Richmond, VA office but will work on our Offshore Wind Project.

  • Provide technical input, in the discipline of mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, or controls engineering, through various phases of project construction and execution.

  • Candidate may be involved in scope document creation based off of input provided by supervisor or technical leads. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify technical scope inclusion. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify construction adherence during field implementation. Candidate will support lead engineers in researching and answering technical questions as requested.

  • Candidate may perform various support functions for various stages of major projects including business development support, site development, permitting support (air, water, state, local, etc...), scope development, contract negotiations (equipment, engineering or -EPC- engineering, procurement, and construction contracts), construction activities, commissioning and transition to commercial operation.

  • Projects may range in size from major complex projects to smaller improvement projects at existing generating facilities. Projects include natural gas generating, renewable gas, battery storage, solar, offshore wind, heavy civil terraforming.

  • Candidate will be expected to utilize fundamental engineering principles to perform calculations, analysis, research tasks, or problem solve.

  • Candidate will be expected to be learn and become familiar with techniques, approaches, and practices used to evaluate options and provide recommendations.

  • Candidate will be expected to coordinate with experienced internal engineers, environmental personnel, or site teams to develop professional engineering working knowledge.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university. Preferred majors: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Graduation date of spring 2025 or later

  • Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum GPA

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Education Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university. Preferred majors: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Graduation date of spring 2025 or later

  • Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum GPA

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Job Summary

The successful candidate intern in this position will be involved throughout their time at the station in improving safety, environmental and cyber compliance, and reliability. Past intern projects have included updating drawings, creating and giving training on new systems to plant operators, programming and implementing power output (load) forecasting spreadsheets and tools, collecting vibration data, analyzing operating data and providing improvement recommendations, generating document repository databases, providing rotating equipment balancing recommendations, and indirectly supervising contract labor.

The engineering intern will report to the Site Manager, work closely with the Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Instrument/Controls Tech departments, and afforded opportunities to interact with in-house operators and external maintenance contractors. Tasks assigned will be a mix of those aligned with the student's background (electrical, mechanical, environmental, etc) as well as stretch projects that are needs for the power station in other engineering disciplines. Other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to gather, review and interpret data, and provide recommendations. Mentoring, oversight, and assistance will be readily available to the Intern.

  • Skilled in the use of a personal computer including the Microsoft Office platform or equivalent.

  • ability to work on a variety of projects concurrently.

Job Summary

This position provides analytical support to Dominion Energy South Carolina's (DESC's) Electric Transmission Department and other organizational units to include data management, analysis and reporting, and the electronic maintenance of critical backup files. This position will assist with the administration of DESC's obligations under the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), particularly the generator interconnection procedures, and the South Carolina Generator Interconnection Procedure (SCGIP). These duties include interacting with interconnection customers, processing interconnection requests, internal and external reporting and processing payments made to DESC under the OATT and SCGIP.

Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft applications to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, must be detail-oriented and be able to read and analyze contracts, regulatory orders and policies, spreadsheets and other documents for the purpose of developing procedures and processes, and must be able to organize and analyze data such as meter data, coincidental peak and credit information for the purpose of monthly billing statements for all Transmission customers, internal reporting and FERC reporting .

Job Summary

The successful intern(s) will be working under the direction of a Supervisor/Mentor. Job Summary

This role will be part of the Customer Contact Operations team. The intent is that the student will work full time during the Summer, then have the ability to potentially work part time during the school year. Duties are as follows:

-Manage and advise customers on their electric service accounts including desired service characteristics, equipment, rate application, associated programs and costs;

-Provide improved electric service reliability by responding to customer operational needs;

-Perform billing reconciliation by analyzing, reconciling and resolving customer or company billing disputes and receive guidance and direction as necessary;

-Provide detailed explanation/applications of electric rates to customers;

-Perform account consumption history analysis to assist in resolving electric high bill complaints and to educate customers regarding their electrical usage.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The successful candidate will need to have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions;

  • Ability to exercise significant amount of discretion in performance of duties and responsibilities;

  • Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel (data entry) & Word (letters);

  • Ability to work under time constraints;

  • Ability to heal customer relationships by defusing angry and upset customers;

  • Ability to multi-task and process customer requests while speaking to the customer;

  • Good oral and written communication skills demonstrated by use of correct grammar and terminology;

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion System Protection personnel to learn the technology used in the protection of the Electric Grid. Job Summary

The successful candidate intern in this position will be involved throughout their time at the station in improving safety, environmental and cyber compliance, and reliability. Past intern projects have included updating drawings, creating and giving training on new systems to plant operators, programming and implementing power output (load) forecasting spreadsheets and tools, collecting vibration data, analyzing operating data and providing improvement recommendations, generating document repository databases, providing rotating equipment balancing recommendations, and indirectly supervising contract labor.

The engineering intern will report to the Site Manager, work closely with the Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Instrument/Controls Tech departments, and afforded opportunities to interact with in-house operators and external maintenance contractors. Tasks assigned will be a mix of those aligned with the student's background (electrical, mechanical, environmental, etc) as well as stretch projects that are needs for the power station in other engineering disciplines. Job Summary

The successful intern(s) will be working under the direction of a Supervisor/Mentor. This role determines facility design and material, time and cost estimates for the construction and maintenance of subdivisions as well as relocation of distribution facilities for customers within assigned areas. Design distribution facilities based on customer load requirements and existing facilities. Inspect work request job sites, determine metering requirements and prepare sketches of property and service agreements. Prepare cost estimates based on design of new construction or modification. Prepare joint use notification CATV permits, underground agreements, revenue calculations, etc. Determine tree-trimming requirements and initiates activity. Job Summary

There are multiple intern opportunities available in our System Protection Relay Lab. Positions are location at our Innsbrook office in Richmond, VA.

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion System Protection personnel to learn the technology used in the protection of the Electric Grid. The Lab position will assist with standard protection scheme application testing, protective relay firmware verification, automated test plan development and testing, and provide technical support to our field organization.

Job Summary

This role is to execute cyber security initiatives in accordance with the Electric Transmission Field Operations (ETFO) Cyber Compliance Program. Responsible for developing and maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts to ETFO's Cyber Compliance Program. Support the installation and maintenance of protective relay equipment, SCADA, network and security equipment in Power Delivery systems. Utilize cyber security systems deployed in protection of ICS/DCS assets, including asset inventory systems, change management, patch management, file integrity, anti-virus, whitelisting, and firewall rule request applications. Perform compliance and troubleshooting activities (ESNET, Power System Center). Coordinate patch management and cyber asset management activities. Develop and revise baseline configuration documentation as needed per NERC CIP requirements.Analyze potential cyber security incidents, security alerts and perform security assessments under the direction of team leads and management.Participate in annual cyber security incident response exercises. Coordinate with IT for firewall rule change requests and network equipment implementation on the control system network as needed. Coordinate with substation engineering, field personnel, and operation centers to complete scheduled compliance activities as needed. Schedule maintenance activities using the outage application.Develop and track mitigation plans for updates that will not be implemented in accordance with NERC Patch Implementation requirements.

The Offshore Wind team is looking for an Engineering intern for the summer of 2024. The position will be based out of our Richmond, VA office but will work on our Offshore Wind Project.

  • Provide technical input, in the discipline of mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, or controls engineering, through various phases of project construction and execution.

  • Candidate may be involved in scope document creation based off of input provided by supervisor or technical leads. Job Summary

This role will be part of the Customer Contact Operations team. The intent is that the student will work full time during the Summer, then have the ability to potentially work part time during the school year. Duties are as follows:

-Manage and advise customers on their electric service accounts including desired service characteristics, equipment, rate application, associated programs and costs;

-Provide improved electric service reliability by responding to customer operational needs;

-Perform billing reconciliation by analyzing, reconciling and resolving customer or company billing disputes and receive guidance and direction as necessary;

-Provide detailed explanation/applications of electric rates to customers;

This position will be located at our East Richmond office in Virginia.

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion System Protection personnel to learn the technology used in the protection of the Electric Grid. The Field positions will assist with the installation, maintenance and operation of control systems and protective devices.
