Job Description

Provides assistance to Magellan's members and providers regarding programs, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include answering incoming calls related to eligibility, benefits, claims and authorization of services from members or providers. Responsibilities also include the administration of intake documentation into the appropriate systems. Overall expectations is to provide outstanding service to internal and external customers and strive to resolve member and provider needs on the first call. Performance expectations are to meet or exceed operations production and quality standards.

  • Listens and probes callers in a professionally and timely manner to determine purpose of the calls.

  • Researches and articulately communicates information regarding member eligibility, benefits, EAP services, claim status, and authorization inquiries to callers while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Resolves customer administrative concerns as the first line of contact - this may include claim resolutions and other expressions of dissatisfaction.

  • Assist efforts to continuously improve by assuming responsibility for identifying and bringing to the attention of responsible entities operations problems and/or inefficiencies.

  • Assist in the mentoring and training of new staff.

  • Assume full responsibility for self-development and career progression; proactively seek and participate in ongoing trainings (formal and informal).

  • Comprehensively assembles and enters patient information into the appropriate delivery system to initiate the EAP, Care and Utilization management programs.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in areas such as job duties and schedule in order to aid in better serving members and help Magellan achieve its business and operational goals.

  • Educates providers on how to submit claims and when/where to submit a treatment plan.

  • Identifies and responds to Crisis calls and continues assistance with the Clinician until the call has been resolved.

  • Informs providers and members on Magellan's appeal process.

  • Lead or participate in activities as requested that help improve Care Center performance, excellence and culture.

  • Links or makes routine referrals and triage decisions not requiring clinical judgment.

  • Performs necessary follow-up tasks to ensure member or provider's needs are completely met.

  • Provides information regarding Magellan's in-network and out-of-network reimbursement rates and states multiple networks to providers.

  • Refers callers requesting provider information to Provider Services regarding Magellan's professional provider selection criteria and application process.

  • Refers patients/EAP clients to the Magellan's Care Management team for a provider, EAP affiliate, or Facility.

  • Responsible for updating self on ever changing information to ensure accuracy when dealing with members and providers.

  • Support team members and participate in team activities to help build a high-performance team.

  • Thoroughly documents customers comments/information and forwards required information to the appropriate staff.

Job Description

Provides services in support of the advocacy, intervention, prevention, education and training to address domestic violence under the Army's Family Advocacy Program (FAP). This position supports the Army's Victim Advocacy Program (VAP) which provides comprehensive services 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, to assist and advocate for victims of domestic abuse and to ensure a victim's easy transition to community resources. The victim advocate (VA) serves Soldiers and Army Families living on and off the installation in accordance with the program protocol.

  • Provides crisis intervention and comprehensive services to include emotional support, arrangement of transportation; accompany victims to medical, legal and/or law enforcement appointments (when requested), assist in securing protective orders, emergency food and/or shelter and information benefits.

  • Works directly with victims to ensure that expressed needs are advocated and presented to personnel at intervening agencies.

  • Assesses imminent risks for health and/or safety of the victim and make referrals as appropriate.

  • Assists victims with navigating the system to obtain the services desired and refer victims to the appropriate services for continued care.

  • Ensures victims of domestic abuse receive sensitive, confidential and immediate comprehensive care and treatment needed to restore health and well-being.

  • Performs initial screening, non- clinical risk and lethality assessment and safety planning with victims of domestic abuse.

  • Assists victims in developing safety plans, conduct a lethality assessment, and provide emotional support, crisis intervention, prevention awareness and education to victims.

  • Liaisons with the installation Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM) to ensure that comprehensive victim services and training are provided through a coordinated community response to domestic abuse victims, , Family Members, Soldiers and Civilians authorized to receive services at a Military Treatment Facility.

  • Provides crisis intervention and a warm hand off to community resources for victims who are not eligible for services through a Military Treatment Facility.

  • Provides information on victim rights, services and resources available on and/or off the installation.

  • Coordinates with the (FAPM) to develop procedures that ensure victims of domestic abuse receive timely and appropriate information.

  • When contacted by a victim of domestic abuse, make contact either telephonically within 20 minutes or face to face within 60 minutes (when requested) by the victim.

  • Explains FAP disclosure and reporting options during the initial contact to ensure that the victim makes informed decisions about disclosing information regarding the abuse.

  • Ensures that first responders, (Emergency Medical Services and or law enforcement etc.) are contacted immediately during crisis situations where there is imminent harm to the victim, their children or program staff..

  • Operates within established guidelines of the FAP and the Victim Advocacy Program, AR 608-18.

  • Conducts domestic abuse training and awareness programs to educate Soldiers and Family members and Civilians.

  • Understanding of Problematic Sexual Behavior- Child and Youth (PSB-CY)

  • Guide client families through the investigative process, encourage their participation in the process, and help them understand their rights as a victim of a crime.

  • Formulate appropriate intervention strategies to improve a family's coping skills during a child abuse case investigation and prosecution process.

  • Identify and make every attempt to meet the needs of children and families who may be in crisis

  • Educate non-offending caregivers about the dynamics and possible long-term consequences of child abuse

  • Assess family needs and encourage non-offending caregivers to participate in recommended services and counseling.

  • Provide information and assistance with completing Crime Victims'' Compensation applications.

  • Serve as a liaison between the family and multidisciplinary team members as needed.

  • Assist multidisciplinary team members in identifying client needs and providing recommendations.

  • Represent the child and family's best interest at multidisciplinary team case review meetings.

  • Accompany non-offending caregivers to court or other appointments, when requested.

  • Participate in relevant community awareness, campaigns and prevention events.

Job Description

Primary responsibility to provide the full breadth of MFLC (Military Family Life Counseling) counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. Services include non- medical, short-term, walk-around counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, provision of health fairs, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues. Works closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation.

  • Provides non-medical, short- term, solution focused, walk-around counseling directly to service and family members. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.

  • Delivers training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities as requested/ directed.

  • Enters counselor activity data on a daily basis through smart phone or web application, to ensure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation, while maintaining client / service member confidentiality.

  • Creates a presence on the installation in which the service and family members feel comfortable approaching the counselor and recognize the program to be confidential. Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources and provides appropriate linkages for service members and their families. Partners with POC to provide MFLC services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation POC.

  • Provides MFLC response to critical incidents, surge and on demand events, and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the government customer. Counselor will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed.

  • Manages duty- to-warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.

  • Communicates with Regional Supervisors and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.

  • Responds to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the government customer. Will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed.

  • Participates in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned/ appropriate.

  • Learns skills and requirements necessary for licensure, directly participate with supervision in training program and applies supervisor guidance on the job.

  • Completes records and other documentation in compliance with program licensing regulations and standards

  • Stays abreast of current theory and counseling modalities by reading professional journals, attending conferences, clinic seminars, teleconferences and materials distributed by staff.

  • Participates as required in staff development programs

  • Ensures all state licensing board requirements necessary for independent licensure are obtained within the 2-year period to include any additional hours, experience, training, and supervision beyond what the scope of the position provides.

Job Description

This position is in support of the United States Military Academy at West Point . Candidates must be local to West Point or willing to relocate to become local and be licensed at the independent level in the state of New York as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Therapist (LMFT), or Social Worker (LCSW).

Provides the full breadth of MFLC consultation and counseling services to the command structure and military service members and their families as an embedded counselor assigned to a dedicated military unit. Responsible for providing MFLC services including non-medical, short term, walk around counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, and consultation to the brigade/regiments command regarding behavioral health issues with a unique understanding of the particular military unit, cultural and mission.

  • Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused, walk-around counseling directly to service and family members of a dedicated military unit (brigade, wing or regiment) as an embedded counselor. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated. Delivers training and health and wellness presentations and activities as requested/ directed.

  • Enters counselor activity data on a daily basis through smart phone or web application to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation, while maintaining client / service member confidentiality.

  • Cultivates and maintains direct relationships with commanders and personnel within the assigned military unit, utilizing relationship management skills and recognizing the unique structure and mission of the assigned military unit. Responsible for development of an effective and professional working relationship with the installation POC (Point of Contact), command, and the command POC.

  • Creates a presence within the brigade/regiment in which the service and family members feel comfortable approaching the counselor, recognizing the program to be confidential. Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages for service members and their families. Partners with POC to provide MFLC services in a manner that addresses the needs of the brigade/regiment.

  • Provides MFLC response to critical incidents, surge, and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. Counselor will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed.

  • Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.

  • Communicates with Regional Supervisors and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.

  • Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.

  • Enters counselor activity data on a daily basis through smart phone or web application to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation, while maintaining client / service member confidentiality.

  • Cultivates and maintains direct relationships with commanders and personnel within the assigned military unit, utilizing relationship management skills and recognizing the unique structure and mission of the assigned military unit. Responsible for development of an effective and professional working relationship with the installation POC (Point of Contact), command, and the command POC.

  • Creates a presence within the brigade/regiment in which the service and family members feel comfortable approaching the counselor, recognizing the program to be confidential. Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages for service members and their families. Partners with POC to provide MFLC services in a manner that addresses the needs of the brigade/regiment.

  • Provides MFLC response to critical incidents, surge, and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. Counselor will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed.

Evaluates and authorizes approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or facsimile using client clinical criteria.

  • Determines appropriateness for medications. Communicates decision to physicians, physician`s office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists.

  • Researches, resolves and documents prior authorization outcomes in pharmacy system.

  • Communicates selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians, physician`s office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists.

  • Escalates requests to Pharmacist when request requires extensive clinical review or denial.

  • Researches, resolves and documents physician or client inquiries and grievances and provides verbal or written results to client, prescriber, provider and/or management.

  • Performs other duties as required.
