Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for the execution of strategies surrounding Human Performance (HP) for Power Delivery (PD) at Georgia Power Company (GPC). They will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities associated with the integration of Human Performance concepts for the objective of improving safety and reliability throughout all aspects of GPC PD Operations. Responsibilities include influencing leaders at all levels of the organization in support of continuing the development of a strong Human Performance culture. This will include analyzing human error events to determine contributing causal factors and working with stakeholders to develop corrective action plans to mitigate reoccurrence. They will lead efforts to increase the formal sharing of events and proactive risk mitigation efforts across GPC, enhancing our ability to sustain our learning environment. This position is responsible for training HP Coaches and providing leadership support to safety initiatives. They will frequently collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Corporate and Power Delivery Safety, Training, Operations, Construction, as well as various partners external to Georgia Power.
Job Requirements:
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, business management, or a related field
5 years of experience working in or with areas where safety or operational excellence is critical
Transmission and/or Distribution in Electric Utility experience strongly preferred
Significant knowledge of Human Performance, continuous improvement, event analysis and change management strategies and concepts
Demonstrated ability to influence senior-level management and key stakeholders
Formal leadership experience with performance management responsibilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience implementing process improvement projects

Major Job Responsibilities:
Influencing management decisions regarding the continued culture change toward a learning environment
Development and delivery of content to support the growth of front-line leaders to leverage HP in field operations
Serve as a key member of the Southern Company Human Performance Council and support enterprise-wide Human Performance alignment efforts
Grow a network of volunteer Human Performance coaches across GPC that will be enabled to lead localized learning teams and drive continuous improvement
Lead training activities to introduce Human Performance and learning teams to the appropriate audiences
Lead efforts around sharing safety and operational learnings across GPC
Manage project efforts effectively and confidentially with all levels of internal and external customers
Serve as or become a subject matter expert on Human Performance, human factors, resilience engineering, continuous improvement, organizational psychology, safety, event analysis, risk management

Partner with HR and training to revise and update procedures and policies based on scope
Partner with other SoCo organizations to develop and leverage a business process documentation repository tool or service

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has cradle to grave responsibility for small projects, working with hydro plant personnel to: identify problem, develop viable solutions, assess options and select solution, find relevant vendors, and provide technical direction for installation and commissioning. Project management duties for small projects can be the responsibility of this position.
For larger projects, this position will work on a multidisciplinary team serving as a Hydro Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME). In this role, the position would be responsible for writing or reviewing specifications, providing drawings to contract partners, reviewing design drawings from internal or external groups, and providing technical support for assembly, disassembly, and commissioning. This position would also interface with, provide support for, and attend meetings scheduled by T&PS for these larger projects.
Other job duties expected of this job would be:
Review alignment data provided by vendors for adherence to industry standards.
Review operational data to identify trends.
Take field measurements when no relevant drawings are available.
Inspect hydroelectric turbines for condition assessment.
Perform factory acceptance tests.
Perform shop inspections of witness or hold points prior to equipment shipment.
Write or modify existing specifications for hydroelectric turbines, oil systems, bearings, shafts, and coolers.
Assist Hydro management with Capital and O&M budgeting process by providing budgetary estimates, project durations, and project cash flows.
Attend industry conferences and technical meetings.
Provide technical input in support of procurement organization contract negotiations.
The job will be located in GA. The position can be staffed at any of the GPC Hydro plant headquarters (Central Georgia near Sparta, GA; North Georgia near Tallulah Falls, GA; or Chattahoochee Hydro near Columbus, GA).
The successful candidate must be comfortable handling multiple projects of varying priorities simultaneously and be comfortable working in an operating power plant, often during construction or outage related activities, occasionally in confined spaces.

Hydro Engineer
This position is responsible for supporting the plant engineering needs for Southern Company's hydroelectric power plants, primarily within Georgia Power but occasionally supporting hydro plants in Alabama Power. This position interfaces with plant operators/hydro journeymen, superintendents, and managers to identify, troubleshoot, and solve hydro plant operations and maintenance issues. Hydro engineers will be heavily involved in the Hydro Modernization program and have primary technical responsibility for the turbine scope of work Modernization projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering. Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear Engineering degrees with power plant experience will be considered also.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience working in an industrial setting is required. Previous power plant experience is highly desired.
At least 5 years of experience working on project teams in various roles (design, technical support, project engineer, project manager, etc.).
Experience supporting Technical and Project Solutions (T&PS) managed projects is preferred.
(T&PS is Southern Company's internal engineering, construction, and project management organization.)
Knowledge:

JOB SUMMARY
This Transmission Line Engineer position reports to the Transmission Maintenance Area (TMA) Manager and is responsible for leading the Valdosta and Albany TMC area line maintenance program, preparing and closing capital and maintenance work orders, coordinating material needs, overseeing maintenance and inspection programs and contractors, entering and reviewing data, coordinating work activities with other departments, patrolling transmission lines, coordinating repairs on transmission lines and associated equipment, attending Planning & Pre-construction meetings, and providing technical support to the TMC Contract Line crew. The transmission maintenance engineer must have a positive attitude, work well in a team environment, and possess excellent customer service skills for interaction with customers and property owners.
This position will be filled at Level 3-6 Exempt dependent upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate must live within commutable distance to the Southern Transmission Maintenance Area and be willing to quickly relocate. This position is located in Valdosta or Albany, GA. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and schedule the Southern TMA Line Maintenance work plan.
Assist the Line crews in ensuring that all transmission line work complies with the current Georgia Power Company specifications and standards.
Have no Operational Incidents and achieve SAIDI and SAIFI goals for the year.
Track and operate within the O&M budget monthly.
Track and operate within the Capital budget monthly.
Support Valdosta and Albany TMC Line crews with complex or unique clearance requests.
Support hot stick work as necessary.
Assist the TMC Line crews with the access requirements of a job and in acquiring specialized equipment as needed.
Assist with switching as needed.
Help ensure complete and accurate transmission line data and documentation, including STOMP data.
Support the review of all Transmission Line aerial inspection reports and initiate appropriate action.
Monitor and maintain instantaneous operation information and assist with information gathering on all other operation/lockout events detailed in "post incident" reports.
Investigate all outages/operations per the Patrol Procedure for Bulk Power Lines Operations to discover and report root cause. Utilize foot patrols, aerial patrols as necessary. Evaluate system outages to ensure proper operation of equipment and that methods of restoration were efficient.
Ensure the timely completion of all documentation including Morning Report follow-up, assignment of ULs, ProCard, Invoice auditing and WO closeout.
Interface directly with all external requestors.
Participate in the Southern TMC Line Maintenance on-call rotation to provide trouble response and outage restoration; the on call rotation participants are the Line engineer, Line foreman and Line specialists for the area.
Assist Line specialist in completion of required maintenance of transmission line switches to include routine inspections and repairs, as needed.
Support capital transmission line projects for the Southern TMA by participating in planning and pre-construction meetings.
Assist Line Specialist in coordinating and scheduling transmission line switch installations, as needed.
Assist Line Engineering in analyzing existing line and ROW (right of way) conditions.
Work with Transmission Support to solve technical line issues as well as best practices within Line Maintenance.
Monitor the progress of construction.
Coordinate and assist in performing final line inspections.
Support Contract Transmission Line Crews working for the TMC.
Order materials, arrange outages, coordinate permits, clearances, switching, and traffic control.
Ensure that all work performed by contract crews working for the TMC is completed per GPC standards, on schedule, and within budget constraints.
Verify and track contract crew invoices.
Provide Comptroller with UL estimates at the end of each month.
Work with other TMC Transmission Line Engineers/Specialists to become proficient in the installation and maintenance of transmission line switches and motor operators.
Focus on Safety Excellence. Assist in providing a safe working environment for all Transmission line activities in the Southern TMA. Apply Human Performance tools, concepts and processes to foster continuous improvement in safety performance.
Work with storm teams following major weather events. This may require out of state travel.
Lead the technical portion of storm response with regards to Transmission Line outages in the Southern TMA.

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for field work, drawing, estimating, and processing all paperwork associated with providing overhead and underground service to customers. This position reports to the Metering Services Engineering Manager and is primarily responsible for engineering projects. These projects may include design and development, product testing, quality assurance or special projects. This position will also cross-train with Field Personnel including Interchange Meter Specialists responsible for interchange metering, intra-tie metering, Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) load metering, substation metering, and generation/IPP metering.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for application engineering, specifications and testing of meters/meter systems including electronic meters, instrument transformers, data communications interfaces including AMI, Ethernet LAN/WAN or wireless radios on meter products ranging from residential customers up through commercial, industrial, generation and bulk power systems.
Advanced meter data analysis and verification including AMI data, pulse data, SCADA, energy logs and MV90.
Software quality, performance and compatibility testing including electricity meter vendor application software, meter firmware and related configuration files for correct operation and billing accuracy.
Product testing of revenue meters and systems.
Understand and interpret relevant industry standards and specifications including ANSI C12, UL, NEMA, IEEE, etc.
Coordinate work with various organizations and stakeholders.
Project manage engineering projects.
Must communicate to other departments and work well with personnel at all levels to be affective in this position.
Maintain documentation files and records for all projects relating to electricity metering product approvals including design, development, and testing activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, or industrial) from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred.
In lieu of technical degree, candidate may qualify with a minimum of five (5) years of specific electric metering experience including meter programming, calibration/testing, application of instrument transformers and intimate knowledge of electric metering products.
Preferred Experience Requirements:
Prior experience working with electric utility high-end metering including meter calibration/testing and substation equipment.
Experience with a broad range of electricity meters and vendor software packages including AMI smart meters and high-end meters such as Sensus iConA, Honeywell (Elster) A3, Aclara I-210 c, Schneider ION 8300/8500/8600, Landis Gyr Focus/Elite, etc.
Experience with associated meter software packages including Maxcom, ION Enterprise, 1132COM, 1132PROG, Metercat, Metermate, FlexNet Utility.

Southern Power's Transmission organization manages interconnection and delivery risks related to acquiring, developing, owning, and operating generation assets. This includes significant regulatory and transmission policy support for the complete life cycle of Southern Power's assets. Responsibilities of the Transmission team include developing and executing strategies for securing and maintaining long-term deliverability from generation assets, conducting due diligence of transmission-related issues for asset acquisitions, developing transmission deliverability and cost assessments for new generation construction, managing the Generator Interconnection process for new assets, supporting FERC regulatory filings for pending and existing assets, managing the customer interface with transmission providers, transmission support for operations and maintenance activities, tracking and participating in transmission policy, forecasting congestion and curtailment to support the financial plan and trading activities and monitoring competitive transmission opportunities.

This role will perform transmission analysis and risk evaluations for securing and maintaining long-term deliverability from Southern Power's generation assets.

Job Requirements:
8 years working in service-related industry with 4 years in the generator or utility industry.

Excellent typing and computer skills; proficient with Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Functional Expertise:
Support the development of technical procedures, projects, and engineering designs related to natural gas pipelines, regulator stations and associated appurtenances by interacting with staff and performing quality reviews to ensure designs meet PHMSA, State, and Company standards
Makes decisions in the field and coordinates with internal and/or external service providers and support departments (Engineering, System Operations, System Planning, Integrity Management and Material Standards) to ensure that work is performed as planned and in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Inspects Construction (safety, compliance, quality, locates and restoration)
Reviews and approves reports, field changes, and as-built records to ensure compliance and company standards and policies
