Atlassian (Middleware) Administrator role in VMware IT AppOps provides great opportunity to grow the career in Atlassian products. Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Gaining the required knowledge on the Atlassian infrastructure, processes, framework, team and stakeholders... Completing the required Knowledge transfer/transition activities and starting to contribute on day to day tickets and long pole efforts as the team needs per the priority defined by the management.

As an Atlassian Administrator in first 120 days yow will be performing day to operations like creation and management of custom, complex projects, workflows, security schemes, custom fields, dashboard, and reports configuration on Atlassian products upgrade like Confluence, JSD and Jira applications. Within nine months you will be upgrading the applications, doing the performance tuning. For customer facing application you will make sure that availability should be as close as possible to 100%.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will be spending your time doing the following activities

  • Install, manage and administer Jira add-ons, plugins, and extensions.

  • Understand and Configure integrations with 3rd party applications and internal tools as necessary.

  • Conduct training for employees and new hires on JIRA and Confluence regarding how to use the tools, new functionality, etc.

  • Perform Migrations of Projects in Jira and Migrations of spaces in Confluence

  • Create, maintain and support dashboards and advanced filters for end users reporting capabilities.

  • Provide User Management and grant user permissions in accordance with role given by the company.

  • Create and maintain detailed technical and user facing documentation.

  • Resolve issues as they arise with JIRA Projects and Confluence in coordination with other admins, partner teams, Atlassian premier support and TAMs.

  • Proficient in understanding and adapting JQL

  • Basic programming knowledge with an understanding of Java, Python or any scripting technologies

  • Proficient in Project Setups, Components, JIRA Reporting, Report Filters and Dashboard creation

The Middleware Administrator role will report to the Senior Manager - Application Operations (Ramanathan Meyyappan).
