As A VMware Solution Engineer, you will work directly with your customers to design the right solution to solve their technical and business challenges. The SE is a high-impact, highly visible role responsible for ensuring pervasive enterprise adoption of VMware software and solutions and closing strategic enterprise transactions within assigned accounts within the greater Philadelphia Metro Area.

What are the performance goals over the next 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

6 months:

  • Become competent with VMware's portfolio, use-cases, and value proposition.

  • Support pre-sale and manage post-sale efforts with the Client Executive assigned to your targeted accounts.

  • Orchestrate territory coverage through effective collaboration of internal teams/specialists.

  • Develop (and potentially deliver) onsite and remote product and solution presentations and demonstrations.

  • Identify additional business development opportunities within the customers' organization and ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and followed by the sales team.

12 months:

  • Build deep, consultative relationships with your customers, effectively becoming a trusted advisor.

  • Develop product pipeline based on your customer's requirements.

  • Understand your customers' workforce transformation, modern application, and multi-cloud strategies.

  • Lead and coordinate responses to RFI/Q/P.

  • Achieve your VMware Multi-cloud VCP.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Technically validating the proposed solution, ensuring there are no technical barriers that would prevent the adoption of the solution.

  • Collaborating regularly with the Client Executive, Specialists and Product Management to deliver world-class proposals and future state architectures to your customers.

  • Further developing your skillset through the achievement of technical certifications and completing quarterly learning plans.

  • Providing feedback to the business units regarding customer trends, feature requests, and business development opportunities.

  • Presenting, discussing, and whiteboarding VMware solutions with your customers.

  • Travel 30-50% of the time, in region, meeting with and presenting to current and prospective customers and for internal events/meetings.

The team consists of 5 senior engineers supporting Enterprise Accounts between Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City. The team often collaborates, discussing technology trends, challenges, and customer goals in order to foster an environment of learning and professional growth.

Flexible: The location of this role is flexible within the United States. Work could be done from our Palo Alto, CA office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware location.

The Strategy, Planning, and Operations (SPO) team is looking for more innovators to drive strategy, re-engineer processes, and steer cross-functional teams building outstanding products.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • You are a strong leader, self-starter, and excellent teammate with experience in a fast paced, high achievement-oriented,consulting type environment

  • You possess strong business acumen, have experience developing strategic frameworks to analyze and solve hairy business problems in enterprise tech companies, articulate complex ideas crisply as simple narratives for senior executive engagement (leveraging various tools such as power point, excel, think cell, etc.)

  • You will drive the following outcomes in your first 30-90-180 days on the job:

  • 30 days: Provide best practices for portfolio management based on outside-in research, customized to CIBG strategic objectives; support strategic planning needs

  • 90 days:Gain buy-in for a recommended portfolio management approach and conduct and initial review; embed the approach into strategic planning

  • 180 days:Deliver a well-defined and bought-in portfolio management approach with a full review; support multiple strategic topics as needed

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Create and execute portfolio strategy for the $6+ billion cloud infrastructure business unit, enablingeffective resource allocation across BU portfolio

  • Define framework, guidelines, and process to assess the portfolio trade-offs required to balance the BU portfolio (balancing growth and core); develop trade-off analyses as needed, and facilitate trade-off conversations with senior leaders

  • Drive and lead the key strategic planning process for the BU,such as long range and annual planning, working cross-functionally with other BUs and functional teams

  • Be versatile and support a wide range of strategy topics such as M&A diligence and integration, business case development, customer research, etc.

  • Deploy frameworks, data, and analytical tools to solve ambiguous business problems, influence strategic decision making, and facilitate alignment across multiple stakeholders
