KBR's Science and Space division is seeking Lidar Interns to support our Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation & Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org).

The primary focus of this position is to support and contribute to a field data collection team that gathers and processes terrestrial lidar point cloud data with the hopes to develop new and or improved surface and canopy fuels models for wildland fire modeling. Successful candidates will take this opportunity to build upon experience and knowledge of lidar datasets (either airborne, spaceborne or terrestrial) to assist the project team improve surface and canopy fuels maps, develop new algorithms, forestry metrics or models. Successful candidates must also be able to take initiative, contribute to creative solutions, and to have a willingness to learn. The position requires one to quickly become familiar with terrestrial lidar scanners and share that knowledge with the larger team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process field collected data sets as well as other lidar data sets acquired from other platforms

• Troubleshoot issues relating to analyzing lidar data using proprietary, open-source software or scripting

• Function as part of a field data collection team including operation of a terrestrial lidar scanner

• Contribute to documentation for operating procedures, technical reports, presentations, and papers

  REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  Candidates must meet the requirements listed below to be considered for this position; please note required items on your resume.

• Must have a 3-year residency in the United States

• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain credentials for facility access and user accounts.

• Education: Progression towards a bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Natural Science, Physical Science or Computer Science related with emphasis in geography, landscape ecology, forestry, land use/land cover science, hydrology, remote sensing (time series monitoring, land cover classification, vegetation monitoring), with course work in remote sensing, GIS

  PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Background in fire science or fire ecology

• Familiarity with lidar data sets

• Familiarity with raster and vector data processing

• Education, experience, or interest in fundamentals of remote sensing science and the characteristics of geospatial data, such as satellite and aerial imagery etc.

• Education, experience, or interest in conducting spatial analysis to address research questions

• Education, experience, or interest in data processing and GIS software (e.g., ERDAS, ArcGIS, QGIS)

• Education, experience, or interest in understanding of R or Python in GIS

• Education, experience, or interest in authoring process documentation, reports, and research papers

WORK LOCATION AND DURATION

These positions support a field data collection team using state of the art terrestrial lidar data collection systems, so onsite work is greatly preferred; some travel may be required to support field data collection campaigns. Work schedule is flexible between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday (fieldwork requirements may dictate a change from the normal in office schedule). Scheduling is flexible as full and part time are possible with some possibility of continuing into the school year on a part time basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential

• The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user accounts.

  Required Qualifications:

Job Summary

The AFCAP V Middle East BOS Facilities/DFAC Supervisor is responsible for planning, managing and resolving customer requests and inquiries related to the operations that occur at a facility which includes scheduling, monitoring, managing, and participating in the preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance of all facilities at the project site. This includes a dining facility, dorms, latrine/shower/shave facilities, laundries, and other various building types.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Duties also include management and direct assignments in various roles as needed for exercise support including but not limited to DFAC/catering, service call center, billeting, aircraft bed down, linen exchange, laundry, and fitness facility support.

• Must have experience managing US military dining facilities and general expeditionary support services for both permanent and temporary facilities.

• Develops plans for incoming personnel and resources required to support exercises. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various cleanup activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting.

• Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Must be able to operate and input/maintain records in the USG provided BUILDER Sustainment Management System, as well as the KBR Maximo system.

• Food Service- Plans, orders, receives, and tracks all the required dining facility food and consumables in coordination with the military, experience with the AFMIS system is preferred.

• Ensures preparedness of dining and serving areas, setting up counters, stands, and tables. Monitors food containers in serving line and tables are prepared for customers to dine. Manages the receiving and proper storage of subsistence items.

• Oversees the washing, rinses, sanitizing of dishes, glassware, and silverware. Ensures the cleanliness and sanitization of kitchen equipment, pots and pans, counters, and tables. Ensures personnel working in the dining facility are properly vaccinated, have a current chest x-ray (screening for tuberculosis) and appropriate medical screening is completed and documented by a medical provider. Must possess knowledge of, certification, and implement Tri-Service Food Code (TB MED 530) and local food safety/sanitation practices.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

  MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

• May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Process new subcontracts commitments and change orders data in commitments database (MS Access tool)

• Time-phase open commitments by reviewing subcontract documents, pricing schedules, and material requisitions.

• Reconcile / validate procurement documents and invoices with Costpoint and projects general ledgers

• Work closely with PP&C and Procurement teams on a regular basis

• Prepare monthly subcontracts spending analysis and comparison to period accruals

• Forecast analysis on future subcontracts expenditures and adjustments to open accruals

• Prepare monthly commitments database and Costpoint accrual files for multiple projects

• Processing COGNOS actuals and purchase orders data through internal MS access database tools

• Create cost databases and man-hour reports for multiple projects

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

As a part of one of the world's largest independent logistics organizations supporting both US Government and commercial agencies, you will be joining a highly talented and experienced KBR Logistics team providing FMS Logistics services to all NAVAIR aviation programs.

As a winner of the National Logistics Contract, the selected applicant will work within the Security Cooperation Office (SSCO) composed of government, military, contractor and industry personnel while supporting FMS logistics projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provides logistics support to the government by assisting with the development of pre-case, initial, and sustaining Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) requirements for FMS cases.

• Responsible for the PMA-290 FMS Technical Directive Program (TD) and will ensure accurate and complete TD development supporting multiple FMS customers based on Engineering Chage Proposal (ECP) and effectivity.

• Perform daily checks of IT systems. Triage, monitor, and work NAVAIR National Help Desk support tickets. Complete Configuration Change Control Board (CCB) requests.

• Perform general IT requirements, installation, configuration, maintenance, and security in an unclassified network environment for applications, databases, integrations, or infrastructure as assigned. Support Apache and IIS web servers including install, configuration, and ongoing support

• Support Windows Server performance monitoring including monitoring disk space; and resource utilization, capacity, and availability. Perform server application software installation, configuration, and regular code update deployments, and vendor hot-fixes.
