Batteries Plus Bulbs in Chico, California is hiring Customer Service/Repair Technicians at the store. The ideal candidates will be comfortable with small electronic device repair, exhibit retail sales skills, possess excellent customer service and relationship building skills, demonstrate a basic understanding of electronics, and possess an ability to communicate with management.

This position offers the ability to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new opportunity with Batteries Plus Bulbs.

In addition to the repair technician responsibilities, the successful candidates will also be a team member responsible for selling all of the products associated with the Batteries Plus Bulbs operation.

Device Repair Technician Duties:

  • Repair cell phones, tablets, and other devices as needed (training provided.)

  • Receive, pack and ship these devices

  • Maintain proper inventory

Retail Sales Associate - Customer Service Duties:

  • Greet customers promptly, determine needs and answer questions.

  • Assist retail and commercial customers in the purchase of batteries and light bulbs. (training provided)

  • Ask questions to identify potential commercial customers.

  • Replace batteries in vehicles, watches, key fobs, cell phones, and more. (training provided)

  • Answer phones, assist callers, and ensure messages are relayed in a timely, accurate manner.

  • Load, unload, and deliver or arrange delivery of products.

  • Maintain proper inventory by stocking and facing shelves.

  • Add-on and upsell product.

  • Maintaining store appearance and cleanliness

  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of product and service offerings

  • Adhere to general and specific safety standards

  • Engage as a "can-do" team member. Proactively follow through on commitments and/or tasks needing to be performed.

Qualifications:

  • H.S. diploma/equivalent plus 3-6+ months of customer service experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude. Able to quickly pick up on new processes and technologies

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to effectively manage and track multiple commitments; effectively prioritize, follow up, and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; strong customer service focus; ability to inform, teach, and train.

  • Ability to calculate simple math, percents, ratios and algebraic expressions and read gauges.

  • Working conditions are typical for a retail environment.

  • This position requires the employee to regularly use hands to handle or touch electronic products. The position also requires the employee to regularly use a computer and other office equipment, as well as tools.

  • This position requires lifting 10-20lbs on a regular and frequent basis, 50lbs on an occasional basis, and more than 50lbs on an infrequent basis.

Responsibilities:

Franchise Administration

  • Administer the annual UFOC filing. Compile requested changes; annually present recommendations to senior executives regarding implications and downstream effects of making changes. Collaborate with the legal team to craft the final language. Track approvals of State filings.

  • Create the franchise agreement process. Manage processes to ensure uniform execution.

  • Coordinate sales of stores, transfers of ownership and all other franchise agreement administrative responsibilities.

  • Act as liaison between current and new franchisees to ensure completion of sales fall within acceptable company guidelines

  • Define franchise-operating standards. Ensure that all franchisees are meeting these standards and develop accountability standards.

  • Communicate non-compliance issues and negotiate resolutions within internal departments and franchise owners.

  • Manage processes to validate standards and resolutions are being applied consistently.

  • Act as primary contact to franchise administration legal counsel.

  • Provide Support functions to the franchise development team.

    Franchise Relations

  • Develop franchise agreement renewal process. Use independent judgment and latitude to manage franchisee expectations and to minimize conflict, while maintaining positive working relationships.

  • Organize and direct the Company's franchisee events, meetings, and recognition including: conventions, regional meetings, workshops, recognition trips, and awards. Lead individuals and teams to ensure project budgets, milestones, timelines and objectives are met.

  • Coordinate completion and maintenance of administration materials, i.e. Operations Manual.

  • Maintain Franconnect as repository of all communications and records management

    Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years+ of franchise management and administration experience; must include direct interaction with small business owners, or as a small business owner

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Communications

  • Extensive work with legal counsel and contractual matters

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Franchise management and administration experience in the retail industry

  • Working knowledge of retail, franchise and general business operations including accounting, purchasing, sales, marketing and inventory management strongly desired

  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills

  • Process oriented with strong project management skills; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities:

Treasury Management/Daily Cash Management

  • Manage outsourced tax resources, fees expectations, budget, forecasts and submissions

    Equity Accounting

  • Maintain equity schedules, ensuring all new stock purchases, new stock options and forfeited/canceled stock options are recorded timely and accurately. Calculate stock option compensation expense.

  • Prepare and/or review general ledger entries and reconciliations to ensure compliance with internal controls

    Operating Taxes

  • Manage the preparation and filing of monthly multi-state sales/use tax reports timely and accurately

  • Correspond with taxing authorities and oversee annual Secretary of State registrations/renewals.

  • Maintain knowledge of current multi-state sales/use tax regulations and provide guide to accounting staff.

  • Prepare and manage the schedules for state sales/use tax audits.

  • Review and research state notices, ensuring notice is resolved with individual states.

  • Oversee and support the preparation of monthly schedules for taxable fringe benefits calculations.
