PRACTICE SPECIFICS:

The NP/PA will provide cardiovascular health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age from young adult to elderly. This position greets customers and facilitates the patient registration process in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. Interviews and obtains demographic and financial information from patients or their representatives through face-to-face and virtual interactions to provide Essentia Health with the documents and data necessary to ensure appropriate care and compliant, accurate patient registration and billing. This position serves as liaisons between patients and Virtual Patient Registration Representatives and Patient Schedulers. They must be able to complete patient checkout, schedule follow-up appointments per the physician's order, and provide patients with cost estimates and itineraries for their upcoming appointments. Key Responsibilities: - Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information to ensure appropriate care provision. - Obtains copies of insurance cards and other forms of identification, and updates patient information in the medical record as necessary. - Performs point of service data collection, including identifying and collecting patient co-payments and down payments, reconciles the cash drawer, and reports daily deposit records associated with the collection of co-payments to ensure accurate accounting of revenue. - Maintains all assigned work queues according to supervisor's instructions and guidance. - Interacts positively and in a caring manner with patients, co-workers, and others to provide highest level of customer service. - Answers incoming phone calls, schedules appointments, and refers to clinical team as needed. - Sanitizes registration equipment between each use and restocks basic supplies. - Other clerical duties as assigned. In this role you will get to: This position pre-registers and schedules patients for appointments, procedures, tests, and other services in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. Answers incoming calls, completes follow-up and referral work queues, and ticket scheduling. Communicates with patient care teams as necessary to ensure efficient, appropriate care for patients. Completes patient checkout, schedules follow-up appointments per the physician's order, and provides patients with cost estimates and itineraries for upcoming appointments. Level I Patient Schedulers are expected to be proficient in scheduling multiple service lines within the same market and one service line across Essentia Health and will be cross trained to provide coverage as needed. Key Responsibilities: - Patient identification, and scheduling, after visit summaries with estimates, patient checkout and appointment, and procedure and lab scheduling, obtaining required signatures and documents from patients. - Full pre-registration of all patients calling to schedule an appointment, including updating of guarantor information and verification of insurance eligibility. - Coordinates the scheduling of services for patients including ancillary and procedure scheduling. - Handles incoming calls, follow-up and referral work queues, ticket scheduling. - Proficiently and accurately enters data into the permanent electronic health record while talking with patients. - Works as part of a care team of support staff and clinical staff to provide optimal customer service and clinical outcomes. Preferred Qualifications: - Previous patient access representative or scheduling experience preferred. * Previous experience working in a cancer center preferred. * Attention to detail critical. Scheduling cancer treatments and follow up appointments is an important aspect of the job. Timing of these appointments is based on MD orders.

Education Qualifications:

Completes designated HBI courses within one year of hire .

Must have a solid understanding of medical terminology.

No certification/licensure required.

A certified medal assistant, medical secretary or health unit coordinator background is preferred.
