Job Summary

Under the direction of a supervisor, or qualified employee, constructs, installs, and maintains gas distribution pipe lines and associated equipment. Operates equipment related to gas line installation and maintenance, including backhoe, dump truck, pavement breakers and other equipment. Works with gas customers to resolve gas-related concerns. Responds to emergency calls, including gas leaks, fires, broken gas lines, and evacuations. Locates gas lines, completes customer turn-on and turn-off orders, and adjusts new and existing gas appliances for customers to ensure safe, effective and efficient gas usage. Accurately completes job-related paperwork and maintains accurate records and reports. Participates in process improvements and effectively solves problems as a team.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The basic knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Experience: 0-1 years related experience. Directly related experience may include construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other similar fields.

  • Knowledge: Basic tools and materials used for repairs, maintenance and construction;

Abilities: Communicate effectively orally and in writing; read and understandbasicmaps; interface effectively with customers and other company personnel; comprehend and apply basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide;

Physical Requirements:smell and detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes; lift up to 100 pounds; twist; bend; kneel and work in tight spaces.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Offshore Wind Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical BOP Engineer to join our Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project. CVOW, the largest project of its kind in the United States, is a 2,600 MW wind farm located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach consisting of 176 wind turbines, three 880 MW offshore substations, and all the associated high-voltage subsea cabling.

As part of the Offshore Wind Engineering team, the successful candidate will work closely with our project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of Dominion Energy's offshore wind projects. This position will be filled as an Engineer II.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction and procurement teams in regard to mechanical systems and equipment, construction schedule, project design, work plans, and troubleshooting

  • Ensure equipment proposals to ensure conformance with project specifications

  • Contribute to the procurement strategy for the project in relation to the equipment selection, commercial evaluation, and technical risks/opportunities, with direct responsibility for the technical aspects

  • Work with the wider Engineering team to ensure technical requirements in the project's contracts are understood and incorporated into all design activities

  • Work with other team members, suppliers and contractors to review project documentation (system design, engineering drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, etc.)

  • Lead the RFI process with suppliers and contractors to support the initiation, tracking and resolution of technical queries

  • Lead technical interfaces with internal/external stakeholders and equipment suppliers across various project packages (wind turbine generators, foundations, offshore substations, transportation and installation, and onshore grid connection)

  • Identify and implement resolutions to technical challenges relating to the mechanical systems and interfaces impacting project schedule and budget

  • Develops and adopts lean processes that efficiently deliver project objectives

  • Occasional travel to suppliers' facilities and/or project site for equipment inspection and testing

  • Provide local support for system commissioning and troubleshooting

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience;

  • Experience with industrial, mechanical systems

  • Experience with utility-scale power/energy systems

Job Summary

This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft.

Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds.

Various duties include:

  • Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts

  • NERC requirements

  • Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances

  • Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations

  • Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases i.e.. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB's, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions Include:

  • Work schedule is 4 X 10 hour days Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Work outdoors 95% of a normal day

  • Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates

  • Must be available for overtime including extended workdays

This is a Local 50 union represented position with a starting pay rate of $23.31 per hour.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • The ability to lift up to 75lbs is required

  • The ability to climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or CDL learner's permit.

Job Summary

- Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the High Voltage Testing Manager or Consulting Engineer.

- May perform some design and theoretical work, but does not possess the educational background required to function as an Engineer.

- May perform same work as titled Engineers, but possesses an engineering degree which is not ABET-accredited.

The position is located in Petersburg, VA and will work on-site. Relocation may be offered to the successful candidate.

Apart to standard 5 days x 8 hours per day work schedule, we offer an option of working 9 hours a day with every second Friday off subject to change due to business needs.

Job Summary

This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft.

Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds.

Various duties include:

  • Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts

  • NERC requirements

  • Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances

  • Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations

  • Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases i.e.. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB's, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions Include:

  • Work schedule is 4 X 10 hour days Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Work outdoors 95% of a normal day

  • Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates

  • Must be available for overtime including extended workdays

This is a Local 50 union job with a starting pay rate of $27.43 per hour. Fredericksburg will receive a 5% wage supplement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • The ability to lift up to 75lbs is required

  • The ability to climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as single point of contact, for customer/contractor/municipality; perform due diligence to accurately determine permitting needs and responsible Design Group.

  • Form and leverage relationships between design, project management, Joint Use, Construction, contractors, and external permitting agencies; facilitate stakeholder meetings.

  • Analyze and evaluate existing process improvements to ensure quality assurance and compliance with company/regulatory standards.

  • Understand electrical designs and cost estimates from scope of work and project requirements.

  • Responsible for coordination of all permits, supporting internal and external projects/programs, and address any joint use and easement issues associated with the permits in timely manner.

  • Act as single point of contact between Dominion Energy and contractor(s) responsible for permitting, joint use and easements.

  • Assist with onboarding, provide training as needed for contractor resources to ensure consistency across the system.

  • Assist with resolutions of any quality issues with contractors, third party customers, and/or supplies.

  • Monitor work to ensure compliance with approved quality plans and procedures.

Job Summary

This position is for a Transportation and Installation (T&I) Project Manager to represent Dominion Energy for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project. Provides technical consultation to company and contract resources related to mapping the earth's surface using satellite observations (GPS), light detection and ranging (LiDAR), unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and/or other remote sensing technologies. This high level position within the survey department includes the ability to perform difficult and complex work requiring through knowledge of the subject matter. This designation is fully competent in all land survey disciplines associated with transmission lines, substations, and various projects that include easement and boundary line locations. Able to perform duties with minimal direction of supervisor and work leaders. Schedules and coordinates related assignments to meet target dates and cost objectives. Attend project meetings as assigned. Checks and approves contractor invoices. Prepares detailed standard and specifications documents. Performs quality assurance checks on LiDAR, point cloud data, digital orthophoto and aerial imagery. Checks, approves and transmits PLS CAD survey files to be used by transmission engineering. Anticipates and Identifies problems, developing solutions with team members. Ensures possible violations are reported appropriately.

Maintain safety procedures. Responsible for quality oversight of external contractors that support related surveying activities, reviewing invoicing and cost control measures. Provides survey cost estimates. Oversee and mentor technical staff to ensure long-term growth of the department.

Job Summary

**Our Blueridge (Staunton, VA) and Shenandoah (Woodstock, VA) offices have multiple Ground Worker positions.

The successful candidate will be exposed to the many facets of construction, operation, and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System. If you enjoy the variety of challenging work outside of an office and want to develop communication, technical and mechanical abilities, the Ground Worker position may be an excellent starting point for a career with Dominion Energy.

More specifically, the successful candidate will develop skills to prepare themselves for potential advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design, or Dispatch areas. As a Ground Worker, the majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor." Must be willing and able to work up to 300 hundred hours a year in overtime. The ability to respond within one hour of a call for overtime is strongly preferred.

Specific Ground Worker functions include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Providing tools, materials, and supplies to journeyman linemen

  • Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite

  • Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained

  • Preparing the equipment and worksite for the effective completion of assignments

  • Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.

**The selected candidate must be 18 years of age at the time of application and must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment. Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies. The starting pay rate will be $21.77 per hour advancing progressively to $27.43 per hour after one year.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Drivers License and 18 years of age

  • GED or HS diploma required

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis

Job Summary

**Our Blueridge (Staunton, VA) and Shenandoah (Woodstock, VA) offices have multiple Ground Worker positions.

The successful candidate will be exposed to the many facets of construction, operation, and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System. If you enjoy the variety of challenging work outside of an office and want to develop communication, technical and mechanical abilities, the Ground Worker position may be an excellent starting point for a career with Dominion Energy.

More specifically, the successful candidate will develop skills to prepare themselves for potential advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design, or Dispatch areas. As a Ground Worker, the majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor." Must be willing and able to work up to 300 hundred hours a year in overtime. The ability to respond within one hour of a call for overtime is strongly preferred.

Specific Ground Worker functions include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Providing tools, materials, and supplies to journeyman linemen

  • Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite

  • Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained

  • Preparing the equipment and worksite for the effective completion of assignments

  • Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.

**The selected candidate must be 18 years of age at the time of application and must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment. Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies. The starting pay rate will be $21.77 per hour advancing progressively to $27.43 per hour after one year.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Drivers License and 18 years of age

  • GED or HS diploma required

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis

  • Ability to carry up to 60 pounds

  • Ability to work on ladders and hydraulic lifts

  • Ability to be on call and quickly respond to electrical restorations

  • Ability to learn how to operate construction equipment and use hand tools

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning Process (RTEPP) to assess and develop the long-term transmission expansion plans (LTRTP) to ensure system reliability, to meet future customer demand, to integrate the renewable energy resources needed to achieve Dominion Energy's net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, and to plan the grid of the future. Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Perform power flow analysis in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, PJM Planning Criteria, and Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Planning Criteria.

  • Develop and maintain power flow and short circuit planning models, including the development of Model on Demand project files, contingency file updates, facility rating updates, short circuit change files, and facility impedance updates

  • Work collaboratively with PJM Planning, the Electric Transmission Planning Team, and the Electric Transmission Operations Engineering Teams to perform annual PJM RTEP assessments, generation interconnection and retirement analysis, and develop transmission solutions to address all reliability criteria violations

  • Participate during competitive FERC Order 1000 open windows by developing innovative and cost-effective transmission solutions using PROMOD software

  • Develop and sponsor regional transmission projects. This includes developing the project scope, justifying the need, presenting, and discussing the project with internal and external stakeholders, and obtaining all the necessary project approvals from PJM and The State Corporation Commission

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for the Electric Transmission Planning Team

  • Generation Interconnection Studies including knowledge around Invertor Based Resources and DER Integration

  • Economic and financial understanding of co optimization of long term grid planning using PLEXOS is preferred

Engineer II : 3+ years of significant directly related experience

Engineer III: 5+ years of significant directly related experience (5+ years of research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry. Work on such projects may be accomplished as part of an Engineering PhD program [completed and graduated by December 2024] on its own or in combination with additional research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry)

*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A master's degree can count as one year experience

  • Knowledge of power system analysis software packages such as PSS\e, PSS MUST, PSS MOD, Power Gem's TARA software, Aspen One-Liner, Transmission Operations Energy Management System (EMS), etc., is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in power system modeling (i.e. short circuit, power flow, EMS)

  • Experience writing scripts, macros, or code to develop tools to automate work processes is preferred

  • Firm understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions

  • Working knowledge of the underlying technology used in used in flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) and high voltage direct transmission (HVDC) equipment is preferred

Serves as the primary contact for all electric distribution, transmission & substation material requests. Dominion Energy Virginia's Electric Transmission departments are seeking motivated, engaged engineers to fill several vacancies within the organization. Electric Transmission is the organization responsible for the long-term planning, engineering, construction, and operations of the high voltage electric grid system operated from 69kV to 500kV. System Protection Engineering has primary responsibilities for the design, modeling, and development of protective relay applications for the grid and substations. If a problem occurs on a transmission line our engineers design protective elements to automatically sectionalize this line and only this line in

Area Planning Engineering : Strong analytical, project management, communication and interpersonal skills with knowledge and understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment to run power flow studies and find solutions to reliability concerns.

Strategic Studies Engineering: Perform stability, sensitivity analysis and power flow studies to ensure reliable operation of generation plants and to evaluate future load growth, future generation retirements, and future integration of renewable energy resources.

System Modeling Engineering: Carry out data mining and data analytics on historical data to validate power system models and load forecasts and comfortable and familiar with creating, maintaining, and using databases and data in the development and maintenance of different models and data files for power flow studies.

Operations Engineering: Perform the modeling of DE's transmission system including network topology, equipment ratings and parameter impedances as well as the maintenance of various operator displays. Coordinate with, and provide technical assistance to, various engineering, operations, and field teams to fully maintain the EMS model. Support the development of tools to improve situational awareness in the operations control room.

Substation and Line Engineering: Responsible for the Creation and maintenance of substation physical electrical, mechanical, and control standard drawings in Cad Drawings. Performing engineering studies in support of substation conceptual scope development, detailed design, and operations. Creation and maintenance of engineering standard drawings and design requirements for the future integration of Autodesk with Inventor 3D and AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE). Creation of policies and practices documentation for standard drawing application, and specification of equipment and components used in substation designs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I : 0-2+ years of engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A an advanced degree can count as one year experience)

Required Skills:

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.

  • Basic understanding of AC/DC fundamentals

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.

  • Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment.

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to ASPEN or CYME preferred.

Job Summary

The Service Department is responsible for servicing and installing various natural gas appliances (residential and commercial), setting and maintaining residential and light commercial meters, restoring gas service to customers, and responding to after-hours and emergency calls.

This position:

- Assists in the installation of natural gas appliances, meters, and facilities in an efficient and safe manner while achieving excellent customer service.

- Uses Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to distribute and route work orders to computers mounted in company vehicles.

- Lights gas pilots on natural gas residential and/or commercial appliances.

- Completes minor appliance repairs.

- Runs customer fuel lines.

- Completes appropriate paperwork in writing and on the computer.

Required, annual Operator Qualification testing involves both written and hands-on components to ensure those who perform covered, safety-sensitive tasks on the natural gas system are trained, knowledgeable, and qualified.

This position reports to the Company's North Raleigh Operations Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Job Summary

The Construction & Maintenance Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Company's natural gas distribution system.

This position:

- installs natural gas pipe in ditches

- manually digs around various utilities

- pressure tests steel and plastic natural gas lines

- participates in the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks

- performs location of natural gas lines and facilities

- completes pipe maintenance activities

- installs test charts

- sets up common Department of Transportation approved work sites

- effectively flags traffic

- safely drives a company vehicle

- maintains the vehicle inventory

- Operator Qualifications involve written guidelines and requirements natural gas employees must follow to ensure the safe and responsible operation of natural gas pipelines. Required, annual Operator Qualification testing involves both written and hands-on components to ensure those who perform covered, safety-sensitive tasks on the natural gas system are trained, knowledgeable, and qualified.

This position reports to the Company's South Raleigh Operations Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Trainee-Construction & Maintenance (0 - 6 months experience)

Pipe Layer VI (at least 12 months experience)

Pipe Layer V (at least 18 months experience)

Pipe Layer IV (at least 30 months experience)

Pipe Layer III (at least 42 months experience)*

*highest level an outside applicant can be hired

The factors to be accorded weight in determining the appropriate job level for the applicant are relative knowledge, skills, abilities, efficiency, experience, education and special training with respect to the skills required for the job opening.

- Knowledge and skill with common hand and power tools (i.e. shovel, screwdriver, pipe wrench, drill, reciprocating saw, etc.).

- Ability to be fit tested for self-contained breathing apparatus equipment.

- Ability to adhere to safe working and defensive driving procedures.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for positive customer and contractor interactions are critical.

- Ability to work as a team member within a diverse team.

- Basic computer and internet navigation skills are key.

- Availability for overtime, as needed.

- Availability for natural gas emergency response during the workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends, when on-call.

- Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Raleigh area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for the Company and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when on-call.

- Occasional heavy lifting up to 80 lbs. independently.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:

- Good mechanical aptitude.

- Flagger experience and/or certification.

- Bilingual (Spanish) candidates.

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.

A valid Commercial Driver's License is strongly preferred OR must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of employment.

Other Working Conditions

This position typically works within a crew structure.

Work is performed primarily outside in varying weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, rain, etc.).

Position requires travel throughout the service territory with safe parking in a wide variety of situations and driving in construction zones.

Position may encounter agitated/upset customers.

Job Summary

The Service Department is responsible for servicing and installing various natural gas appliances (residential and commercial), setting and maintaining residential and light commercial meters, restoring gas service to customers, and responding to after-hours and emergency calls.
