Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform alternative studies

  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects

  • Layout of highway and roadway design elements including roadways, sidewalks, open and closed drainage design and traffic relate items

  • Perform design computations

  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

  • Develop construction cost estimates

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

The successful candidate for this position will adjust and operate surveying instruments, such as the theodolite and electronic distance-measuring equipment, and compiles notes, make sketches and enter data into computers. They will also assist the survey team by gathering and maintaining specified data for land surveying. Finally, they will complete simple routine tasks under close supervision.   • Place and hold measuring tapes when electronic distance-measuring equipment is not used
