The Design Engineer is responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential functions and Responsibilities

• Design and Oversee plans, estimates and specifications for compliance with FHWA, PennDOT and the city of Philadelphia's guidelines and standards

• Develop construction documents including all aspects of highway and site design (geometrics, details, ADA criteria, roadway profiles, utility design and coordination, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic, signage)

• Perform design computations

• Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

• Develop construction cost estimates

• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

Required Skills

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform alternative studies

• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects

• Layout of highway and roadway design elements including roadways, sidewalks, open and closed drainage design and traffic relate items

• Perform design computations

• Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

• Develop construction cost estimates

• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Working Conditions

JMT is seeking a highly motivated individual, from the Maryland, Northern Virginia, or DC area, who has the desire to advance towards a leadership position within the organization. This position has excellent potential for career advancement including developing and leading a water/wastewater engineering practice in the region. This candidate will be responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including; scope, schedule and budget. The candidate will be expected to coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and internal staff.

In addition to the technical and project management skills, the successful candidate will have experience with and the desire to fully understand the business side of the practice including; business development, client management, financial performance, staff development, and overseeing the quality of our products and services. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Monitors schedules, budgets, accounts receivable and manpower requirements and prepares invoices.

• Develop Project Management plans for assigned projects

• Establish project pricing and budgets

• Create and maintain project schedules

• Develop and maintain project specific quality plans

• Develop and coordinate project scope

• Manage sub-consultants

• Participate in client presentation

• Oversee and manage assigned staff working on project

• Manage all technical resources on the project team

• Development of extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals

• Coordinate and assist Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders with marketing proposals

Required Skills

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program

• Professional Engineer License (Virginia, MARYLAND,DC or ability to obtain through reciprocity preferred)

• 12+ years' experience in Water/Wastewater Engineer

• Experience working with Virginia based clients at the city, county and state level

• Project management and business development experience

• Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, CMAR

• Experience managing multidiscipline project teams

• Work closely and interact with technical staff, administrative staff, and marketing staff in other offices, as well as outside vendors, subconsultants, and clients.

• Administrative duties related to marketing such as filing, data input, etc.

• Research websites and business publications in search of project opportunities for professional services. When opportunities are found, enter data for these opportunities into marketing database (CRM), tracking leads and associated go/no go decisions, and wins or losses.

• Gather information, conduct market research about prospects/clients/projects, and participate in the development of various business collateral to support continued strategic growth.

• Generates reports for technical staff on marketing efforts, when required.

• Organizational support of regional marketing efforts.

• Adherence to JMT's Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 9001:2015 Marketing procedures.

The Traffic Engineering Intern/Co-op will be asked to work closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks. The tasks will range from field work, data collection, revising existing engineering design drawings to design of small engineering projects. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and materials, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.

Vaughn & Melton, a JMT company, is seeking a senior level Project Engineer to add to their growing Highways Team in Asheville, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. They will also act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
