JMT's Herndon Construction Management Team is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to oversee projects during construction. The successful applicant will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities before, during and after construction for quality assurance, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and permits.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
Monitor construction progress in relation to approved project schedule
Performs or verifies routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of drainage, structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and specifications
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues

Job Description
A career-minded Water/Wastewater engineer, looking for growth and advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast growing water/wastewater consultant engineering practice. The selected candidate will work with a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers working on exciting water distribution, sewershed study and rehabilitation, pump station, and wastewater treatment projects. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Work closely with senior engineers to develop construction plans and specifications for various design projects
Assist with development of technical evaluation memoranda

JMT is seeking an Intern to join our growing Facilities Engineering practice in the Newark, DE office.
The successful candidate will be asked to work closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks. The tasks will range from data entry, making changes to existing engineering drawings to design of small engineering projects in addition to documentation and field support of Commissioning activities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and material, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.

Assist in clarifying and interpreting the intent and scope of the Construction Documents
Maintain a tracking system for project construction records (Submittals, RFI's, ESI's / ASI's, PCO's)
Review and take appropriate action with Contractor's submittals and RFI's
Coordinate with design team to respond to Contractor's submittals and RFI's
Assist in responding to Contractor's inquiries and questions and provide supplemental information as appropriate
Aid in the review of the Contractor's requests for change orders
Support review of Contractor's guarantees and warranties
Assemble and distribute the official punchlist(s)
Assist in reviewing Contractor's record drawings, O&M instructions, and all other close-out documentation

Required Skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program
2 to 5 years' experience in a design or construction related discipline.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required as needed. Regional travel, generally within the Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware area, will occasionally be required for meeting attendance and collaboration with design team members, although virtual connection with team members is an active component of JMT's business model.
