Job Description

Overview

To perform penetration testing against systems across NFCU in order to identify weaknesses and provide guidance on remediation and prevention. Conduct application, network, wireless, and mobile assessments as well as lead red team campaigns. Assess a wide variety of critical systems and applications to discover exploitable risks to the credit union and improve the risk posture of the organization. Provide findings and remediation guidance to relevant teams and serve as subject matter expert to help engineering teams understand findings and successfully manage risk. Work is performed under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

- Independently manage penetration tests from inception through delivery to include:

o Scoping assessments and establishing rules of engagement

o Designing penetration tests for systems and applications using established assessment frameworks; account for common and unique application and system considerations

o Sourcing and leveraging information such as source code, architecture diagrams, etc. to enhance assessment coverage

o Coordinating & scheduling testing with engineering teams across the enterprise

o Effectively managing relationships and communicating with engineering teams before, during, and after testing

o Acting as subject matter expert with engineering teams when communicating results, preventative measures, remediation steps, and other security related information

o Acting as a technical lead for multi-resource engagements

- Identify and prescribe remediation for vulnerabilities in NFCU applications, systems, and networks

- Leverage complex tactics including, but not limited to, lateral movement, network tunneling/pivoting, credential compromise, and hash cracking

- Lead red team exercises with a focus on stealth, long campaigns, social engineering, and realistic threats

- Enhance testing by identifying novel attack patterns against NFCU systems and applications based on real-world data

- Perform attacks consistent with common threats (e.g OWASP top 10) as well as uncommonly observed attacks specific to certain technologies and frameworks

- Research and develop exploits for local and remote targets

- Craft proofs of concept as well as deployable exploits for both public and novel vulnerabilities

- Create and automate custom fuzzing leveraging techniques relevant to NFCU technologies

- Develop custom scripts (Nuclei, Python, etc) to check for security requirements specific to individual applications

- Communicate complex technical risks concisely to non-technical and executive audiences

- Effectively employ OpSec best practices to minimize distribution of vulnerability data

- Mentor and support more junior staff across the security organization

- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience

- Advanced hands on experience in the field of cybersecurity and/or application security, with hands-on penetration testing or red teaming as the primary/exclusive role

- Advanced knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and/or CAPEC Frameworks

- Experience testing against Active Directory environments

- Experience testing against both Linux based and Windows based systems

- Experience developing custom malware and evading EDR solutions

- Experience coding in languages and on frameworks such as: Python, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, Java, C#, C++, Springboot, React, NodeJS

- Advanced networking knowledge spanning: IPv4/6, DNS, TCP/UDP, TLS/SSL, SSH, HTTP, SOCKS

- Advanced knowledge of modern cryptographic hashing & encryption methods and best practices

- Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills

- Advanced communication, presentation and analytical skills

Desired Qualifications

- Advanced degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience

- At least one of the following certifications: OSCP, OSCE, OSEE, OSWE, OSWP, CREST penetration testing certifications (-Registered- and -Certified- levels such as CRT or CCSAS)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute toward the planning and execution of integrated operational audits in accordance with Navy Federal and industry audit standards

Overview

Come join the Threat Discovery & Analysis (TDA) team within Navy Federal's Cloud Security Group. In this role, you will deliver on a dynamic team responsible for threat modeling, security testing, and continuous threat discovery of Navy Federal cloud workloads. To drive embedding security seamlessly into the product development lifecycle for cloud applications and environments. Serve as a technical interface and subject matter expert working with development teams on securing cloud infrastructure and workloads by designing, implementing, and operationalizing capabilities. Support the implementation of continuous security monitoring practices along with threat and vulnerability prevention, detection, and response capabilities on cloud assets. Works independently under limited supervision and/or in a team environment.

Responsibilities

- Provide subject matter expertise on secure architecture, design and coding practices based on current knowledge of security threats and vulnerabilities that could impact the technology stack

- Leverage and develop automated techniques for continuously identifying cloud infrastructure and workload risks

- Develop approaches for hardening cloud native containers starting with the build all the way through the lifecycle including the run time environment

- Collaborate with dependent teams to develop cloud security standards and verify controls are implemented for hardening infrastructure, hardening infrastructure as code, hardening CI/CD pipelines, and hardening containers

- Translate cloud security policies and standards into machine-readable, automated guardrails using cloud-native, open source, custom scripting, and commercial security tools

- Design and implement continuous monitoring practices to verify security properties at runtime with continuous feedback to teams responsible for triage, detect tracking, and remediation workflows

- Develop and implement monitoring and contextual incident response alerting patterns targeting cloud infrastructure and runtime assets for the security operations center, including integration with SEIM/SOAR technologies

- Support definition of Secure SDLC standard to include security architecture, design and coding requirements for infrastructure, application and data to align with application security maturity model and adopt a shift-left approach for security

- Lead security innovation and best practices in product development through collaboration and learning from industry professionals and consortiums

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration of product technologies for multiple on-going projects across the Security, NFFG, Branch Operations, and Contact Center business domains

  • Maintain a broad understanding of the technology stack and demonstrate a deep mastery in applications aligned to products across Security, NFFG, Branch Operations, and Contact Center

  • Along with other top-level engineers, influence the technical direction of the Security, Channels, & Investments organization and support NFCU's broader technology transformation while fostering a culture of continuous learning, sharing, and collaboration

To perform penetration testing against systems across NFCU in order to identify weaknesses and provide guidance on remediation and prevention. Conduct application, network, wireless, and mobile assessments as well as lead red team campaigns. Assess a wide variety of critical systems and applications to discover exploitable risks to the credit union and improve the risk posture of the organization. Provide findings and remediation guidance to relevant teams and serve as subject matter expert to help engineering teams understand findings and successfully manage risk. - Independently manage penetration tests from inception through delivery to include:

o Scoping assessments and establishing rules of engagement

o Designing penetration tests for systems and applications using established assessment frameworks; account for common and unique application and system considerations

o Sourcing and leveraging information such as source code, architecture diagrams, etc. to enhance assessment coverage

o Coordinating & scheduling testing with engineering teams across the enterprise

Overview

Come join the Threat Discovery & Analysis (TDA) team within Navy Federal's Cloud Security Group. In this role, you will deliver on a dynamic team responsible for threat modeling, security testing, and continuous threat discovery of Navy Federal cloud workloads. To drive embedding security seamlessly into the product development lifecycle for cloud applications and environments. Serve as a technical interface and subject matter expert working with development teams on securing cloud infrastructure and workloads by designing, implementing, and operationalizing capabilities. Responsibilities

Overview

Operational Accounting is a team within Corporate Accounting under the Finance umbrella at Navy Federal Credit Union.
