Job Description

Collabworkx is a single solution for secure communication, meetings, project management boards, file sharing, and cross-functional collaboration with a single sign-on.

Overview: This internship will offer a student interested in business a comprehensive view of the inner workings and elements of a company that are required to come together to make a successful business. The intern will have a chance to work under our Product Development team. There will be minimal day-to-day work as most of the work will be in the forms of projects. These projects will help to build an understanding of the company as a whole.

Duties & Responsibilities • Promoting healthy employer-employee relations: answering questions, encouraging communication with management, demonstration of company values, taking charge of the monthly newsletter, sorting and distributing paychecks in timely manner, planning company activities outside of work (including, but not limited to the annual company picnic)

Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED equivalent • Student enrolled in a Business or Human Resources related field. • Organizational - ability to administer, organize, and file paperwork, take proper notes and documentation of project progression • Communicative - ability to effectively and efficiently communicate via email and the telephone, keep managers up-to-date on project progression • Computer Literacy confident PC user with a willingness to learn and utilize InterChanges warehouse management system, other vendor/customer specific software, insurance software, and recordkeeping documents • Multi-Tasking Capability ability to handle more than one project at a time • Initiative confident and capable of taking ownership of projects once the guidelines are assigned and understood

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistency with social media posts and marketing efforts for the company
  • Regularly monitor and organize CollabWorkx social media accounts
  • Regularly create, design, write, edit, and post social media posts
  • Regularly research trending topics related to technology, cybersecurity, company culture, etc.
  • Utilize social media design tools to create and edit digital graphics
  • Produce monthly social media analytics reports to measure efforts and ensure intended and strategic goals are met

Responsibilities Serves as the Store Worker in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) location. The primary purpose of this position is to work in an assigned department within the store (e.g., grocery, produce, meat, etc.), but may also perform rotational assignments within all departments. Position responsibilities include: Maintain adequate stock of resale items. Identify any obvious spoilage, damage, and out-of-date merchandise. Receive, supplies, equipment and resale items. Operate a computer system that calculates and marks prices, and determines weights of merchandise. Transport items to shelving and display areas. Recognized by the International Economic Development Council, t​he Virginia Beach Economic Development  is one of 50​ Accredited Economic Development Organizations (AEDO) in North America. This recognition of professional excellence confirms our expertise and commitment to our economic development community, stakeholders,​ and clients.

​​Mission​​​

The Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is charged with expanding and diversifying the tax base and employment opportunities for the city through business development.​

The department provides staff support to the Virginia Beach Development Authority, the Military Economic Development Authority, ​and the Oceana Land Use Conformity Committee. 

Specific objectives of the department​​​ include:

  • Recruit national and international business to Virginia Beach
  • Assist local businesses with expansion efforts
  • Attract developers to identifies site opportunities
  • Develop and support workforce training programs
  • Help new businesses get established
  • Recruit and assist minority business development
  • Work with Naval Air S​tation Oceana to support compatible business locations

In addition, the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development assists the business community by providing management, technical, and other resources. We can act on your behalf as liaisons with other city departments to streamline the planning, permitting, and zoning processes .​

Marketing and New Business Attraction

The VBDED promotes Virginia Beach as one of the best business locations through local, national and international events, activities and sponsorships.​ We conduct more than 75 outreach marketing events in the United States and around the world each year.  

​Research Assistance

The Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is a single point of contact for real estate information, demographic reports, incentives, and a variety of other research.  Site location assistance is provided to domestic and international companies planning new or expanded facilities. ​​​
