Job Description

The Service Provider Business Development Lead is responsible for coordinating and executing a joint sales strategy and sales approach between VMware's Service Provider and Edge Business Unit and VMware's internal sales and services teams as well as VMware's partners.

The role responsibility is global but primary focus is on the North American region. The Embedded Service Provider Specialist is responsible for ensuring that NFV opportunities within our Tier 2 and Tier 3 Service Provider accounts are developed, agreements executed and deployments initiated in a coordinated and systematic manner across the extended team.

  • Within 30 days, you will gain an understanding of SaaS Billing Operations people, process and systems

  • You will work closely with leaders in Order to Cash, Revenue Operations, Worldwide Operations, as well as Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders across VMware to create efficiencies within SaaS Billing

  • All efficiencies will be focused on helping us to achieve the VMware strategic priorities of winning the multi-cloud enterprise, operating as a -consumption-obsessed- SaaS company and adapting our mindsets to operate as -One VMware-

  • Within 90 days, you will create a compelling vision across people, process, and technology to drive departmental success with quarterly roadmaps / critical milestones to lead transformation through continuous improvement, and implementation of scalable process & technology

  • Within 180 days of employment, you will influence leaders across different business and functional teams to streamline Order to Cash processes and recommend standard operating procedures across all relevant teams (Sales, Deal Management, Order Management, Finance, Revenue)

  • Within 360 days along with the above, you will be designing enhancements to the billing operations, usage and cost management framework to provide VMware Customers with world class billing, usage and cost management insights

  • Lead and partner with global Product Managers, Engineering, Product and Business Stakeholders to deliver large scale quote to cash and digital transformation projects

Sara reports to John Gallinagh, the leader of Order to Cash Business Operations within the Worldwide Operations team. Sara leads digital transformation efforts at VMware by creating actionable insights for the team, identifying and implementing key strategic transformations, analyzing and improving process flows, introducing automation and reducing non-value activities. Sara has a background in strategic planning and transformation in SaaS/software, management consulting, and private equity. She believes that teams work best with diversity and a combination of high-level strategic planning and detailed implementation.

VMWare is looking for someone in Sales Operations to document, define and develop account and territory planning methodologies and processes, and ultimately establish the worldwide governance and process framework for territory planning.

The VMWare Sales Operations Consultant works within the worldwide Plan to Pay Organization, in the Sales Operations organization, and will lead efforts to optimize territory methodologies and establish globally consistent processes that can be configured in Anaplan.

Do you have a strong experience in territory and account planning, as well as a solid data and analytics background, and desire to lead change? You will be able to effectively manage and design cross-functional processes and serve as a business partner across Sales Leadership, Sales Planning, Business Intelligence, IT and broader sales operations team. Primary Responsibilities

You will engage in key initiatives for the Territory and Account Planning COE within the Global Sales Operations Function.

Near Term

  • Support the territory and account planning process and execution worldwide

  • Document and analyze worldwide end to end processes, tools, and owners

  • Define future state processes and methodologies that can be scaled across

  • Design and optimize standard global territory planning processes

  • Support definition and management of standard worldwide account records

Mid Term

  • Partner with quota and compensation teams to integrate analytics and support end to end customer centric sales planning

  • Establish territory governance mechanisms to ensure timely delivery of sales territories

  • Define detailed requirements and partner with the technology team to implement a globally standard approach in Anaplan

Long Term

  • Worldwide processes and methodologies enabled in Anaplan and in tune with fully integrated end to end sales planning process

  • Deliver comprehensive territory methodology, governance and analytics to key stakeholders to drive the territory planning process

  • Define key performance metrics and reporting for territory to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics or Finance; MBA preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Working knowledge of Anaplan useful

  • Solid Business understanding with an ability to translate business needs into a set of workable, specific requirements
