Community: Data & Analytics
In this role, you will work closely with Actuaries and Data Scientists to solve product and pricing business problems as a part of the Data and Analytics Enablement team. You will apply advanced data and analytic techniques to build out analytic data proofs of concept. You will be expected to find creative and innovative ways to use data extending beyond current usage and constraints. The team will also work with our IT partners to provide requirements and influence design ensuring alignment with business needs. Provide decision support for business areas across the enterprise. Staff in this area will be responsible for applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change. The essence of work performed by the Decision Science Analyst involves gathering, manipulating, and synthesizing data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), models and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.
We are looking to hire a mid-level Decision Science Analyst. This position may also have the option of working remotely in the U.S.

Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews and compliance requirements.
Adopts emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies and/or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions.
Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences mid to upper-level management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.
Minimum Experience
Bachelor's degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science, or other quantitative discipline; OR 4 additional years (6 Total) of related experience in statistics, mathematics or quantitative analytics which may be substituted in lieu of degree.
2 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance) OR Advanced degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative discipline with 2 years' experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance).
Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used to drive fact-based decision-making.
Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.
Preferred Experience
Experience in defining and implementing new metrics and derived attributes for broad analytic usage.
Able to translate business related data needs into appropriate data design with our IT partners.
Data Curation experience in Snowflake.
Understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
Previous P&C Insurance and/or Financial Industry data and analytics experience.

As an Injury Adjuster, you will work within defined guidelines and framework, responsible to adjust non-attorney involved soft tissue bodily injury or auto PIP/MP medical claims to include confirming coverage, determining liability, investigating, evaluating, negotiating, defending, and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations. Accountable for delivering a concierge level of best in class member service through setting appropriate expectations, proactive communications, advice, and compassion.
Primary Responsibilities:

Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
Adjusts non-attorney involved soft tissue bodily injury claims, as well as all auto physical damage associated with those claims.
Adjusts soft tissue, moderately complex and complex 1st party PIP/MP medical claims.
Identifies, confirms, and makes coverage decisions on soft tissue claims.
Investigates loss details, determines legal liability, evaluates, negotiates, and arrives at claim settlement within appropriate authority guidelines.
Clearly documents thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
Provides advice and sets expectations into next steps to members.
Collaborates and supports team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate matters for escalation.
Partners and/or directs vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution.
Supports workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed.
Minimum Experience:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
1 year of auto liability adjusting experience
Working knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract as well as application of case and state laws and regulations
Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts

4 years of software development experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s)
2 years of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle to include leading code/design reviews.
Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL

Compensation:
USAA has an effective method for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this skill is: $88,200 - $158,900*
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
