Purpose of Job

Responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions and defining solutions to business problems through reasoned application of information technology. Designs, develops, and analyzes overall architecture of internal systems, including hardware and software. Determines integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs. Coordinates design and integration of total system including subsystems. Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems. Provides organizational leadership and technical vision, coupled with strong business acumen to deliver an efficient, sound, and industry leading technical platform.

Job Requirements

Tasks:

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.

  • Leads development and implementation of technical strategies to assure achievement of CoSA/organizational goals.

  • Serves as primary consultant to IT, executive management and other personnel in large-scale information technology efforts, which require extremely high degrees of analytical and creative ability.

  • Provides authoritative technical advice and expertise to senior management regarding systems development, hardware and software configurations for major corporate information systems.

  • Evaluates design and architecture of proposed systems to determine feasibility of new applications and/or assess business impacts on other systems.

  • Influences product direction and features for critical vendors.

  • Provides knowledge counsel to executive management on cross-divisional, cross-applications, and cross-technology issues.

  • Directs the assessment of integration and supports impacts of new, proposed, and existing technologies, and advises executive management.

  • Directs the scope, design, coordination, and implementation decisions concerning integration of the organization's broad spectrum of highly technical and complex computer and telecommunication systems.

  • Builds and oversees a team of Technical Architects supporting a technical portfolio of a CoSA through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems/Management or related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years of progressive Information Technology/IT development or implementation/consulting experience.

  • 4 years of leadership experience advocating, developing, and investing in the personal growth of the Technical Architect or Engineering communities.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals.

  • Demonstrated understanding of applications, server technology, networking and/or security.

  • Executive level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

  • Ability to consider process, business impact, timing, budget, organization, strategy, and change management for any technology decision - and to be able to explain that to any audience, at any level, of any size.

  • Excellent leadership, creativity, communication, presentation, writing, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to effectively contribute IT Architecture when assigned to provide technical leadership for high level, multi-effort business change and the highest complexity projects and initiatives that are directly linked to published enterprise goals and strategies.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of both current and emerging technologies that affect business.

  • Knowledge of IT related risk management framework and policies.

  • Certification based on the domain support such as: AWS - Certified Solution Architect, CTA - Salesforce, ITIL - Master Certification, TOGAF 9, or Zachman Certified Enterprise Architect.

  • This can be a remote role that requires travel to the San Antonio HQ

Preferreds:

  • Expertise in setting corporate Data & Analytics technology strategies

  • Experience with TOGAF

  • Proven experience working in a regulated financial services environment

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $155,400 - $279,800

Provides risk management support for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control and reporting, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes. Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree (12 years of experience without a degree in total).

  • 8 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area OR advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other discipline relevant to risk management and 6 years of work experience in a discipline relevant to risk management.

  • Advanced risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution management and ability to effectively challenge at all levels of management and influence business outcomes.

  • Deep business acumen in the areas of operational risk and financial services

  • Proven ability to effectively assess and challenge process, risk and controls, identify emerging risks and issues, analyze large bodies of risk data, and communicate results in a concise and comprehensive manner to multiple stakeholders across the organization

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across the 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense and build collaborative relationships

  • Ability to build strong relationships with business partners and teammates and influence change.

  • Experience executing targeted assessments and performing control testing of design and effectiveness.

*Geographical Differential : Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.

Our Insurance Customer Service role may be a new career for you, but the journey is mapped out. There's a lot to learn. Our comprehensive, fully paid six-month training program including class discussions, hands-on training, e-learning modules, and the instructor led guidance will help you to support our membership independently. Colorado Springs candidates must successfully prepare for and pass the Property & Casualty (P&C) state exam before your start date. Materials and courses supplied by USAA.

Our in-office development program provides the training you need and the encouragement to create a proactive and independent support style to service our membership. After six months in-office, you'll have the opportunity to work in a hybrid model where you can work from home 2-3 days a week.

Job Requirements

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our Colorado Springs office for future insurance customer service opportunities in 2022 with the desire to work a full time schedule. Work schedule times will vary. Military Veterans and spouses are highly encouraged to apply.

Our Insurance Customer Service Representatives work within defined guidelines and framework, to provide customer service, sales, and retention activities for one or more of USAA's Property & Casualty personal line products. Representatives interact with our members across multiple contact channels (i.e. inbound phone calls, email, chat, social media, etc.) to provide adequate coverage and advice to help ensure members' financial security.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and handles existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

  • Facilitates the Property & Casualty (P&C) member experience by answering inbound phone calls, emails, and/or other contacts from members.

  • Applies developing knowledge of personal lines insurance to assist members with foundational to moderately complex quotes, binding new business, rating, policy, billing, payment, underwriting, contract and coverage provisions, and premium changes for insurance products and services. Responsible for the respective trailing documents for all states.

  • Identifies, assesses and understands member needs and consistently provides complete and accurate advice and solutions, including products and services. Provides detailed issue diagnosis while minimizing transfers, escalations and call backs.

  • Uses the tools and resources available to support members with some assistance.

  • Effectively operates in a contact center environment and navigate multiple systems/programs while maintaining an engaging member interaction that occurs across multiple channels.

  • Required maintenance of Property & Casualty (P&C) license and state registrations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Up to 1 year customer service experience in insurance, financial services and/or relevant direct customer service and/or sales experience

  • Colorado Springs candidates mustsuccessfully acquire Property & Casualty (P&C) license and state registrationsbefore date of hire.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, including navigating through multiple business applications

  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required

Preferred Experience:

  • 1 year of customer contact experience in a needs-based sales environment

  • US military service or military spouse

  • Experience in a fast-paced contact center environment

  • 6+ months experience frequently communicating (minimum 60 percent of the time) with customers by phone, e-mail, and/or face to face

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The hiring range for this position is $43,680 - $44,680.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

This role works closely with the VP of Strategy & Transformation and the head of Strategic Planning and Analysis, with responsibility to drive critical initiative across the Enterprise Risk and Compliance (ERC) organization. The role will involve working with ERC leadership to conceptualize, define and complete transformation initiatives including developing the business case, designing frameworks to measure and quantify estimated benefits, and measuring progress against outcomes. The role will also partner closely with teams inside and outside of ERC including CFO, HR, and lines of business to drive shared success and achieve enterprise strategic goals.
