Reporting to the Vice President of Global Tax, the Director, International Tax serves to lead the delivery of tax planning within ITW. He or she bears responsibility for coordination on a project basis, key aspects of the tax planning function carried out on the Company's behalf, including the following:

-- Work with business operations to support business restructuring. This includes the following:

  • Build relationships with key decision-makers within the business;

  • Assist with the formulation of restructuring plans with the business operations group;

  • Research tax technical issues related to the restructuring plans;

  • Lead modeling of the tax impact of the restructuring;

  • Manage/review the valuation work related to the restructurings;

  • Manage the review/approval of the restructuring plan;

  • Manage/support the implementation of the restructurings;

  • Lead the process to document the restructuring;

  • Lead coordination within ITW as needed on such plans, including Treasury, Finance, and other tax functions, and

  • Review the related tax return disclosures.

-Assist with identification, development, and implementation of strategic tax planning for ITW. This includes the following:

  • Lead formulation of plans on the strategic planning area;

  • Research technical issues;

  • Work with and manage consultants as needed;

  • Work with and manage internal ITW resources as needed;

  • Model out the impacts of the planning;

  • Discuss with other departments both in the US and internationally as to the potential impacts;

  • Lead the process to document the restructuring;

  • Lead the implementation of the planning; and

  • Review the related tax return disclosures.

  • Work with Treasury, Finance, and other tax team members on ITW's capital allocation strategy:

  • Assist to formulate plans for the strategic movement of cash within ITW, including distributions, capital contributions, and intercompany lending

  • Research technical issues;

  • Work with and manage consultants as needed;

  • Work with and manage internal ITW resources as needed;

  • Model out the impacts of the proposed cash transactions;

  • Discuss with other departments both in the US and internationally as to the potential impacts;

  • Lead the process to document the executed plans;

  • Lead the implementation of the planning; and

  • Review the related tax return disclosures.

  • Identify and implement process improvements;

  • Manage multiple operational and strategic tax projects as needed;

  • Support the IRS and local country tax audit process and assist in responding to issues, IDR requests, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred in accounting

  • MST/CPA and/or JD/LLM preferred;

  • 12+ years of tax experience in Big 4 public accounting or multinational industry experience required;

  • Strong technical knowledge of US federal and international income tax rules, as well as a solid understanding of the functioning of material foreign tax jurisdictions rules;

  • Strong tax research and analytical skills;

  • Experience in federal and international tax planning;

  • Experience in the preparation and review of U.S. international tax compliance including Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, and related disclosures;

  • US GAAP proficiency, particularly with ASC 740 (FAS 109) and international-related provisions;

  • Experience in Corptax preferred;

  • Experience in tax automation projects and strong data analytic skills are preferred;

  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask routinely

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a clear and professional manner

  • Ability to lead staff, seniors and managers on planning projects and implementation

  • Understanding of valuations and effective utilization of these in the planning process

  • General computer and software technology skills

Reporting to a Group Technology Counsel, the Patent Agent will have responsibility for assisting IP attorneys in engaging closely with ITW businesses to develop IP protection strategies, manage IP capture and patent prosecution, form patentability opinions, and evaluate ITW and competitor patent portfolios.

Specific responsibilities of the Patent Agent will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with US- and foreign-based ITW Group Technology Counsel and Assistant Group Technology Counsel to develop and maintain worldwide patent portfolios for a number of ITW businesses.

  • Become a close business partner to assigned ITW businesses and learn their businesses, products, and markets.

  • Meet and confer with counsel and business personnel to develop and execute IP protection strategies.

  • Partner closely with the engineering and product teams to identify and capture new inventions and inform as to competitor IP landscape.

  • Conduct meetings with business units to discuss innovation pipelines and specific innovation projects.

  • Support the management of diverse, worldwide IP portfolios based on strategies developed with the assigned businesses, including overseeing outside counsels' prosecution of patent applications.

  • Quickly become familiar with the patent portfolios to counsel the businesses and make decisions on securing worldwide protection and annual renewals and enforcement.

  • Manage prosecution matters by reviewing patent applications, responses to Office Actions, and other documents prepared by outside counsel for filing with US and foreign patent offices.

  • Provide support for docketing matters and other IP functions.

  • Conduct patentability searches and studies.

  • Coordinate and review IP landscape and other searches.

  • Stay current with patent law changes and develop/implement approaches in response.

  • Prepare concise and understandable written and oral summaries and recommendations for IP strategy for the business and legal staff.

  • Support IP-related due diligence in commercial transactions, such as acquisitions, divestitures, and licensing.

  • Conduct training for business teams on IP-related topics.

  • Subject to COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions, travel to various ITW businesses in the U.S. to partner with their Innovation, R&D and Management teams and establish / support their IP strategies.

  • At least 7 years experience, as a patent agent, at a law firm or corporation.

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering disciplines.

  • Registration to practice with the USPTO.

  • Knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent policies and procedures for a worldwide patent portfolio and experience advising on patent-related issues.

  • Ability to provide strategic thought leadership; build strong relationships with superiors and peers and collaborate across the organization.

POSITION SUMMARY

In this position, you're responsible for moving raw material within the plant to support the operations processes. You will utilize different equipment and inventory control systems. This position operates in a warehouse environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency while maintaining safety are key skills for this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

. Perform shipping/receiving duties; supplies the lines with correct product (wire, washers, nut blanks)

. Scans outbound in AS400 thus creating BOL's

. Loads trucks by delivery destinations

. Reads work order and/or follow verbal instructions to move raw material (wire & components) to machines and designated areas within facility.

. Organize empty tubs and wire carriers

. Gage control and calibration and keeping records and working with quality and auditors as needed.

. Inspection of incoming materials, and paperwork associated with the products.

. Unload and load trucks; unload wire truck; identify and tag wire and move to identified location.

. Oversee the running, scheduling and flow thru of the parts washer

. Dumping of bulk nuts and washer for use in the lines.

The Customer Experience Manager will work with the Hobart Operations leadership team on customer facing process optimization and create customer lifecycle-based milestones, with a specific focus on strategic customer onboarding, retention, and off boarding. These initiatives areas are all in support of developing Hobart Service customer value proposition. This position reports to the Hobart Service Vice President of Operations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct competitive and market segmentation assessments to understand market attractiveness and desired short- and long-term positioning strategies

  • Execute ITW's Customer Back Innovation process with deep VOC and market requirement events to understand customer pain points/needs and translate to real world process and product specifications

  • ServDevelop and ensure processes adhere to ITW's existing CRM sales pipeline process and design metrics for sales growth success

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Standardize methods, work instructions, and best practices through cross functional teams including production coordinators from other facilities.

  • Maintain hiring and staffing levels across all shifts to meet business needs, working with Human Resources, outside agencies, and consistently following internal policies.

  • Performance management, including the preparation and administration of performance reviews and ongoing individual coaching.

  • Disciplinary management, including investigating and administering corrective action consistent with internal policies supported by Human Resources and operations management.

  • Lead, develop, train, and mentor Group Leaders and production team members in all areas including safety, quality, equipment operation and encourage the achievement of effective goals.

  • Effective communication across all shifts and levels of the organization.

  • Holds self and teammates accountable for living the ITW Culture and values.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Business

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience managing a multi-shift operation preferred

  • Flexible work schedule capable of meeting the needs of a 3-shift, 24/5 operation

  • Proven ability to apply ITW principles in a manufacturing environment, safety compliance, Lean Manufacturing, and Quality Standards.

  • Proven problem-solving skills to include analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Be customer-focused with management, support staff, customers, and suppliers; understand how the business functions link together to support the customer (i.e. engineering, materials, and sales).

  • Possess the track record of a proven leader and team player, demonstrates positive attitude, takes personal accountability, coaches, listens, approachable, and resolves issues/conflicts in timely manner.

  • Must be self-driven and be able to motivate others, able to identify needs and show the ability to make things happen with little supervision.

  • You will work with customers to electrically/mechanically troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial food equipment to include cooking, food preparation, ware washers, weigh wrap, baking and refrigeration.

  • You will meet or surpass weekly productivity and customer-oriented goals while maintaining a high level of customer service.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • An accredited High School Diploma or GED and 2-4 years of similar electrical/mechanical experience

  • EPA Universal

  • Refrigeration Certification or Degree preferred

  • You must have a valid Driver's License and ability to drive multiple hours daily

  • You should be able to work Overtime and On-Call as required

Contact with both internal and external customers where improper handling will have a marked effect on operating results. Ability to work with other Service Support Team Members.

Will provide 24 hour a day, 7 day a week support to field offices to include logging calls to Branches and paging on call technicians during non-business hours.

Shift Schedule: Schedules include a variety of day, evening and weekend hours. Remote capabilities are acceptable on an approved basis.

Willing to be flexible to provide necessary coverage for peak periods, vacations, holidays, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer calls from incoming customers and dispense call information to the appropriate Branch or Service Contractor

  • Utilize current system to properly log and page service calls

  • Distribute faxes and electronic calls as needed

  • Follow current procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy across the department while continually looking at process improvements and simplifications

  • Identify service offices and/or personnel where intervention may be needed to improve processes

  • Understand 3rd Party Companies being utilized by our key accounts in order to oversee proper procedures are being followed regarding service calls

  • Coordinate field notification, tracking and payment of SPIFF programs

  • Track Office Information Screen/SMS Scheduler updates, print, and follow-up as necessary

  • Train and assist in the development of new hires

  • Handle other projects as required

  • Accredited High School diploma or GED

  • 2 years in customer support and service experience required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products to include Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, remain calm in stressful situations and adjust plans to meet changing needs

  • Flexible scheduling, work any combination of 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts including weekend shifts and holidays

  • Ability to see underlying concepts and patterns in complex situations in order to develop solutions that effectively address underlying problems/root causes

  • Recognize changing customer needs and determine process/procedure updates and/or requirements

  • Work with IT regarding customer needs when appropriate

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with others at all levels and demonstrate respect to people at all levels

  • Ability to handle internal and external customers politely and efficiently follows procedures to solve problems, understand company products and services, and maintain pleasant and professional image

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Associate's degree

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products to include Access and Power Point

  • Bilingual
