Position Summary

The candidate's mission will be to support the sales efforts for Artisanal Brewing Ventures' brands. The Brand Ambassador - Sampling Representative will be a part-time ambassador for our beer and our brand at a variety of events, festivals and tastings. WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance projects throughout the brewery facilities. They will lead and manage the completion of day-to-day activities, involving the maintenance of brewing process equipment and the facility including: brewhouse, cellar, packaging, process refrigeration, and distribution equipment, HVAC, building lighting systems, building and grounds, taproom equipment, security, and overall facility appearance. They are responsible for issuing site work orders for preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on all shifts, parts ordering, and maintaining parts inventory.

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

  • Develops preventative maintenance programs for equipment and machinery. Implements strategies to help improve operations and efficiencies throughout the production facility.

  • Utilizes computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to issue and track work orders, identifying required stock and non-stock materials, sources replacement parts, verifies work order completion, and maintains departmental KPI's.

  • Prepares work schedules across all shifts, assigns work to optimize brewery up time and accurately records documentation of repairs. Executes corrective actions with a sense of urgency.

  • Researches and implements World Class maintenance practices to keep brewery equipment reliable. Provide effective solutions to technical problems using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.

  • Creates and enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices. Ensures maintenance areas are clean and organized. Adheres to and enforces all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations

  • Understands brewery sanitation and food safety programs.

  • Reads blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures in order to dismantle, overhaul, and assemble industrial machinery by using hand and power tools.

  • Coordinates maintenance and project work with production planning to minimize downtime.

  • Identify, propose, and discuss solutions of equipment and facility issues with brewery management.

  • Owns and is accountable for Maintenance Goals/Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) which includes but not limited to:

  • Percentage of planned work >85%

  • Schedule adherence >90%

  • Spare Parts Stock-out rate 1-2%

  • Employee training (Technical and Safety)

  • Manage maintenance projects, including in house projects, as well as acting as liaison to outside contractors for the installation and commissioning of new parts and equipment.

  • Prepares project budgets and secures estimates and cost quotes as needed.

  • Assists in the procurement and installation of new equipment.

  • Assists with taproom equipment repair, new equipment installation, and general maintenance.

  • Builds relationships and collaborates with department managers and operators to effectively solve problems.

  • Manages highly skilled Maintenance team including hiring, performance appraisals, and ensuring timely development of technical skills. Coaches, counsels and manages performance of direct reports.

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager to manage department budget including project, equipment and skilled resources.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A Bachelors' Degree in Engineering and/or Military or Trade School Training, or other technical related discipline.

  • Minimum (3) years of experience in plant maintenance with strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, air compressors, chillers, boilers, water systems, Building Automation Systems, wastewater systems, and HVAC systems.

  • Minimum (1) year of related experience in Maintenance supervision in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge and aptitude to repair hydraulic and pneumatic components that include pumps, valves, cylinders, and compressors.

  • Working knowledge and experience in manufacturing and packaging automation, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI's (Human Machine Interface).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Experience documenting maintenance and repair activities. (CMMS) experience desired.

  • Ability to obtain bids, review contracts, and favorably negotiate goods and services for the company.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), CMMS.

  • Must be able to work effectively with peers as well as independently.

  • Ability to properly assess problems and drive appropriate and timely responses.

  • Ability to perform equipment improvements and enhancements to optimize production with positive contributions to safety, quality, cost, and service.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

The employee will perform work duties in production, office, and maintenance areas. While performing their duties, the employee may be exposed to airborne particles, chemicals, hot liquids, and moving mechanical equipment. There are areas of the facility that can be wet, noisy, or dusty.

Proper personal protective equipment is expected to be worn, always including protective eyewear on the production floor. Occasionally work outdoors, year-round, in a variety of temperature and weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a fulltime position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Occasionally local travel between brewery facilities.

The Corporate FP&A Analyst will conduct, document, and communicate financial analyses.   • Participates in the preparation and compilations of reported audited financial statements.

  • Participates in the preparation and compilation of the annual operating plan and quarterly forecast, which may include company-wide or functional area specific modeling, time-series analysis and graphical presentation of both operational and financial data.

  • Prepares complex financial analysis reports in a timely and accurate manner, and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Cider Maker is an integral, first line management position, proficient in all departmental operations within the cidery. The position supervises and coordinates brew/cellar staff, working towards production schedule execution by competently monitoring production operations to produce outstanding craft product in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Cider Maker will coach and mentor cellar hands.

Reports to: Head Cider Maker

  • Exhibit and maintain proficiency in cider making tasks required of a brewer/cider maker in a 40,000+ bbl/year brewery or 25,000+ bbl/year cidery including fermentation, blending, and various filtration methods.

  • Act as a first responder to cellar hand questions, issues and concerns.

  • Provide pertinent follow up information to inter-brewery/cidery shift leads, cidery managers, maintenance team, quality assurance team and scheduling.

  • Adhere to SOPs to elevate process control and minimize variability from operator to operator. Provide edits and improvements to SOPs, as needed.

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of environment and equipment in accordance with QA/QC standards, implementing improvements where appropriate.

  • Champion safety protocols in all activities, participating in improvements to safety standards where appropriate.

  • Fill shifts as necessitated by vacations, staffing levels, necessary overtime.

  • Ensure all equipment is operating safely, at maximum efficiency and maintained to the highest standards by supporting the maintenance department schedule. Submit work orders as necessary for equipment.

  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency to problem solving through practicing and perfecting root cause analysis.

  • Conduct periodic one on one meetings with Cellar Hands to establish and develop individual development plans.

  • Provide feedback on performance reviews for Assistant Brewers and Production Brewers, in concert with the Brewing Manager/Cellar Hands and Packaging & Sanitation Leads, in concert with the Head Cider Maker.

  • Participate in the interview process for new associates, as well as manage departmental on-boarding and training.

  • Support initiatives to ensure minimal waste during manufacturing.

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 3 years of brewing/cidermaking experience in a production brewery/cidery producing at least 25,000 barrels per year (preferred)

  • In depth experience with automated and manual brewing and cellaring systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow preventative maintenance plans in a production environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.

  • Display both a sense of urgency and an upbeat attitude.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or college degree required in the applicable fields of Brewing Science, Food Science, Chemistry and Biology considered a plus.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Working with the Southern Tier Brewing Company team, the Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the brewery, packaging, and restaurant equipment running at a world-class caliber. This includes preventative maintenance, daily trouble shooting, and commitment to continuous improvement of all machines and processes.

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams.

  • Knowledge of DC and 3 phase AC circuits.

  • Effectively diagnose control circuitry with wiring schematics and digital multi-meter to perform appropriate repairs.

  • Practiced in lock-out/tag-out programs.

  • Keep accurate and complete records of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks as completed.

  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul process systems with conveyors, power transmission systems, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical devices.

  • Repair process pumps, automated control valves and actuators with feedback sensors and positioners.

  • Layout and install conduit and circuit.

  • Identify, propose, and discuss solutions for equipment and facility issues with management.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office and a Computerized Management Maintenance System (CMMS) to perform daily duties.

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Industrial Electrical and Mechanical skill requirements include industrial experience with conveyors, power transmission systems, all related pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical devices used in process systems

  • Work with a high degree of autonomy with minimal supervision to support production priorities

  • Positive can-do attitude and sense of urgency in performing duties

  • Work in a safe manner to ensure your safety and that of others are in accordance with OSHA and company policy

  • Working knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E

  • Expected to be on a rolling on call weekend schedule

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This leader will be experienced in leading a diverse team of kitchen operations managers, in addition to full oversite of the hourly support team. An ideal candidate will act as an extension of the Corporate Chef bringing to life the culinary vision, as created by the Corporate Chef, in our taproom, while ensuring excellence in all facets of culinary operations. To be successful in this role, you are focused on delivering an exceptional culinary experience to the guest, while effectively managing operating costs, working within the complexity of a full menu, ability to excel in high volume situations, and are consistently creating a world class working environment.

  • Responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of high-quality products, and upholding sanitation and cleanliness standards

  • Use creativity in developing culinary menus for weekly featured selections, private event menus, and occasional special events

  • Concoct unique ways to pair our craft beer platform with our menu design, such as during seasonal and limited beer release offerings

  • Write and develop policies and procedures as needed for smooth day-to-day operations including, but not limited to daily checklists and logs, quality control standards, inventory tracking and food cost and usage. Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards

  • Take an active role and responsibility for both new hire orientation and ongoing training of staff; including training in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion, cost control, safe operation of all kitchen equipment, safety training, sanitation and cleanliness procedures, and teaching company department rules, policies, and procedures

  • Work with restaurant managers to plan and price menu items. Establish portion sizes and prepare standard recipe cards for all new menu items

  • Submit all required paperwork and reports to leadership as required and actively participate in all Management meetings

  • Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining kitchen personnel as appropriate.

  • Manage the performance appraisal review process for your team

  • Ensure that all products are ordered according to predetermined product specifications and received in correct unit count and condition, and that deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant's receiving policies and procedures

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook and expediter

  • At least 6 months of experience in an Executive Chef manager capacity

  • Strong knowledge of craft beer and/or serious interest in understanding and learning about methods of using beer in cooking and food pairings

The Packaging Shift Supervisor is an integral, first line management position, proficient in the packaging operation of the brewery. The position ensures the completion of daily and weekly production plans and is accountable for achieving Packaging Department goals. The Packaging Shift Supervisor will oversee a team of Packaging Line Leads and Packaging Line Assistants, and will ensure escalation of any issues to the appropriate party.

  • Exhibit and maintain proficiency in packaging operations, including ensuring basic and routine maintenance, equipment cleaning, and operation in accordance with SOPs.

  • Oversight and responsibility for shift qualitative and quantitative production goals for three packaging lines.

  • Coordinate incoming product from the fermentation cellar, incoming packaging materials and outgoing finished product with the supply chain.

  • Ability to anticipate problems and drive solutions by providing direction to staff.

  • Act as first responder for all shift issues, providing solutions.

  • Provide pertinent follow up information to inter-brewery shift leads, brewery managers, maintenance team, quality assurance team and scheduling.

  • Adhere to SOPs to elevate process control and minimize variability from operator to operator. Provide edits and improvements to SOPs, as needed.

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of environment and equipment in accordance with QA/QC standards, implementing improvements where appropriate.

  • Champion safety protocols in all activities, participating in improvements to safety standards where appropriate.

  • Fill shifts as necessitated by vacations, staffing levels, necessary overtime.

  • Ensure all equipment is operating safely, at maximum efficiency and maintained to the highest standards by supporting the maintenance department schedule. Submit work orders as necessary for equipment.

  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency to problem solving through practicing and perfecting root cause analysis.

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert to clean or CIP any of the packaging equipment.

The Cellar Hand's primary responsibility is to support and follow instructions from the Cider Maker in ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacture of the range of products, from fermentation through to final blending and bottling. They will act as an effective member of the Liquids team and ensure no products are packaged that do not meet specifications.

Reports to: Cider Maker

  • Carries out instructions on cider production and other products as determine by the Cider Maker.

  • Discusses with the Cider Maker before making any changes or alterations to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Ensures quality cider production through the efficient execution of cellar operations under the direction of the Cider Maker.

  • Works collaboratively with the whole cider making team, supporting their efforts to product exceptional cider products.

  • Perform cidery duties when and where required.

  • Actively seek opportunities as they arise to learn from the Cider Maker regarding cider making duties.

  • Ensure that all products meet the set quality specifications.

  • Ensure that all requirements of the food safety policy and other statutory regulations are adhered to.

  • Inform the Senior Cider Maker immediately of any product that does not meet specifications & general issues.

  • Learn how each piece of the plant and equipment work and how to get the best performance safely from each unit.

  • Make every effort to keep strictly confidential, within the liquids team only, the various receipt and processes that constitute the company's intellectual property. This includes not discussing with other staff or any members of the public.

  • Maintenance schedule of pumps and spare parts inventory

  • Maintenance, set up, and calibration schedule of flow meters

  • Organization of liquids warehouse, storage, oven, hoses, etc.

  • Helping ensure the production unit works as a team and there is a seamless flow from juicing to fermentation, blending, and bottling

  • Work within the team to foster good relationships to ensure a healthy, effective, and efficient working environment

  • Foster a safe working environment and ensure that you and those around you comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, and policies

  • Available to work 8 hour shifts - Monday through Friday (with potential for overtime)

  • Experience operating forklift or desire to gain qualifications necessary for safe and efficient operation of cidery

  • Knowledge of fermentation science is ideal

    Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in a mostly outdoor facility in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Use of hands to perform fine manipulation, handle or feel, and must be able to reach with hands and arms

  • Identify product deficiencies (color, smell, taste); this requires having close, distance, color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

    Work Environment

    The Cellar Hand will primarily perform work duties in production areas. There can be loud noise levels, and protective eyewear is required on the production floor at all times.
