Job Description

Vaughn & Melton, a JMT Company, is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. The successful candidate will act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers, and will be able to choose either our Nashville, Johnson City or Knoxville, Tennessee office as their home base.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects

  • Perform design computations

  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

  • Develop construction cost estimates

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates

  • Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines

  • Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals

  • Prepare proposals as required

  • Attend meetings with clients

  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
