Accountant
Summary of Position Duties
The responsibilities for the Accountant position include:
Serve as an active member on the Technology Accounting Review Committee.
Research and provide sound guidance on technical accounting and reporting issues for Southern Company Services and its subsidiaries.
Assist with accounting conversations as appropriate between the SCS Technology Organization and System Accounting Research and Corporate Accounting teams.
Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards and participate in the adoption of the new standards.
Document and communicate complex accounting decisions and cost recovery mechanisms for technology projects.
Coordinate with various organizations across the enterprise to complete annual technology reimbursement analysis and monitor execution of billings.
This is a very detail - oriented role; Strong organization skills are a must.
Job Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics required
Advanced Degree or CPA is preferred
Two years of accounting experience is preferred
Technology and/or Utility accounting experience is preferred
Demonstrated ability to facilitate conversations on complex accounting topics
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of FASB and SEC accounting and reporting standards and requirements
Ability to research technical/complex accounting issues
Extremely strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to understand and explain complex accounting issues to a varied audience
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with accounting, auditing, various non-financial functional areas, and varying levels of staff and management
Understanding of FERC requirements is a plus

Summary of Position Duties:
- Create Design Change Packages and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical oversight for design modifications.
- Develop and maintain electrical calculations including voltage drop, breaker coordination, and load study analysis calculations.
- Conduct site walk downs, and review design modifications for constructability.
- Support cost estimates, and scoping of future design modifications.
- Ensure design drawings are updated after completion of a design modification.
- Present design changes at various meetings.
- Coordinate and write test procedures, as needed.
- Manage design scope, schedule, and budget to meet site objectives.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and vendors associated with modifications.
- Provide input for/attend post-project evaluation/lessons learned meetings.
- Perform engineering duty and emergency response duty as required.

Educational Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or PE license required.
Background/Experience Requirements

The successful candidate must meet background screening and NRC Fitness for Duty requirements. Selected candidate must be willing to relocate within one hour of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.

Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC), headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, construction activities are underway for two new reactors at our Plant Vogtle location.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing civil engineering design services for Southern Nuclear at Plant Vogtle 3&4 in Waynesboro, Georgia. Design services include preparation / coordination of designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits. Work involves field walk downs for constructability and some construction coordination. The position will be filled at an exempt level commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university is required. No technology degrees accepted for this role.
Professional Engineer Registration is desired.
Experience Requirements:
Previous Nuclear Power Plant design/retrofit experience is preferred.
Familiarity with seismic design methodology is desired.
Working knowledge of civil and structural design codes and requirements is desired.
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements regarding commercial nuclear power plant design is desired.
Working knowledge of OSHA and Environmental standards is desired.
Experience with development and maintenance of design related calculations is desired.
Experience with structural analysis and design software such as GT Strudl or similar is desired.
Experience with field evaluation / resolution of steel and concrete structural design issues is desired.
Experience with piping layout, design, and knowledge of applicable codes and standard is desired.
Industry standard design process qualification is preferred.
At least 3 years experience highly preferred.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for working in a line crew on overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution systems. This position is also responsible for responding to and correcting problems with the electrical distribution system during normal working hours, after hours, nights and weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Candidate must safely perform any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This position builds, maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. Successful candidate will review work orders and determine material needed to complete jobs; along with being able to safely load wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks. Candidate is responsible for using hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems. This position frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment. Successful candidate must climb utility poles and other structures. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools/trucks. Successful candidate must maintain regular attendance and comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel in the normal course of duties. The applicant will complete a prescribed Journeyman Development Program.

Candidates must be comfortable working indoors, in a closed facility with no windows, at a structured work station that requires sitting/standing for long periods of time.
Successful candidate will enter the Operator-in-Training program, which consists of structured training classes along with on-the-job training AND must successfully complete the Distribution System Operator-in-Training program within the designated time frame (18 to 24 months) to maintain employment as a Distribution System Operator. JOB SUMMARY:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking an experienced IST engineer. This position is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in IST. The successful candidate should have experience with IST, and an understanding of the ASME OM Code used in the nuclear plant environment. Activities involve identifying industry best practices, developing/maintaining fleet procedures, setting a strategic vision, participation in industry working groups, and troubleshooting problems.
The job can be located at any of our SNC Plant site, Plant Farley, Plant Hatch, or Plant Vogtle or at the Corporate HQ location in Birmingham. The candidate must live within 1 hour of one of these locations to support ERO duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license, is required. (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).

Work with TBS&P, business partners, and supervision to understand the high-level requirements and changes being requested.
Facilitate the creation of Functional Design documents for moderately complex projects and participate in the creation for more complex projects. Ensure initial requirements are reviewed and enhanced into a full functional requirement.
Identify potential solutions that consider and leverage the base product (when COTS system) rather than customization.
Participate in the creation of the Technical Design documents. Ensure all functional requirements are translated into the technical design to allow for seamless handover to the development team.
Develop and implement Requirements Traceability to ensure all requirements are tested.
Prioritize work and deliver on project commitments.
Develop solutions to technical problems of a moderate scope and complexity
Maintain and follow production support processes focused on identification and mitigation of root cause.

Civil / Structural Design Engineer - Plant Farley 1&2
Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing civil engineering tactical design services for Southern Nuclear at Plant Farley. Design services include preparation / coordination of designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits. Tactical support may also include supporting emergent plant issues through troubleshooting, evaluating as-found conditions for design & licensing basis impact, or performing evaluations to support the day-to-day operation of the plant. Work involves field walk downs as well as office work. The position will be filled at an exempt level commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications.
Education Requirements:
ABET accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (not Engineering Technology) is required. Professional Engineer registration is desired. At least 5 years' experience in some or all the following areas is desired:

Familiarity with seismic design methodology
Working knowledge of civil and structural design codes and requirements

JOB SUMMARY
The facilities analyst will be a core member of the Workplace Solutions team, which will perform as the activity center for a wide variety of Facilities-related activities. This position will support business functions for Georgia Power (GPC), Southern Company Services (SCS), Southern Company GAS and other Southern Company affiliates by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all business unit transactions, including financial, vendor management-based, and compliance-related transactions, including supporting communications to various levels of management.
This position will support multiple organizational functions with analysis, data management and study research needs in aiding our hundreds of brick-and-mortar locations, support services and customers. This position will also coordinate the timely and accurate processing, data gathering and analysis for all the Enterprise Solutions applications including Maximo, PowerPlan, OACS and Oracle Cloud and provide counsel and planning to various levels of management regarding the findings of various analyses as needed. This position will also assist the organization in meeting corporate and business unit goals and objectives, while establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communications with the organization and internal and external support customers.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage financial workflows for vendor partners, developing and refining departmental procedures to support existing processes and ongoing business needs.
Vendor Management - conducting quality assessments, activity monitoring, reporting and discrepancy resolution.
Prepare in-depth analysis into business units to develop costing models that help streamline processes and gain efficiencies.
Provide data mining analysis and business modeling support as needed to support the evolution of departmental, organizational growth and ongoing company needs.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and make recommendations regarding needed changes and efficiency improvements.
Participate in special projects by gathering information and providing analysis, business case findings and presenting recommendations.
Assess business risks and opportunities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Business Administration, or comparable degree is desired (experience will be considered in lieu of formal degree)
2 years of applicable experience performing in an analyst-related role, reporting, evaluating, data collection and report generation, with an emphasis on company financials, compliance, and headcount related functions is preferred
Experience:
Previous experience in facilities, accounting, finance, or business administration preferred
Knowledge of Enterprise Foundations principles preferred
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, SharePoint) desired
Capital and O&M budgeting experience desired

JOB SUMMARY
This position will support the Southern Company Generation goals and business results related to safety, compliance, budgets, people, and technical skills. This shall be accomplished by providing industry leading technical field support for both project management and field support demand services. This position will assist in defining the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) maintenance strategies for the Southern Company fleet by identifying and mitigating reliability risk in an economical manner. This position will also assist with major capital HRSG component replacements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will support the Southern Company HRSG fleet predominately in the southeast United States. This position will perform the following duties:
Support engineering, operation, maintenance, and field service activities required to inspect and repair HRSGs. This includes performing a visual inspection of the entire HRSG, external and internal, and accurately documenting inspection findings and recommending repairs for correction.
Provide maintenance planning support for future outages.
Assist with pressure part replacements for HRSGs including specification development, print reviews, supplier shop inspections, installation, etc.
Assist with development and coordination of Southern Company initiatives (i.e. SOE, SCTR, etc.).
Assist with coordinating the HRSG system owner's meeting that is held yearly.
Assist with organizing and presenting at various system or plant meetings.
Assist with analyzing the effects of CT upgrades on HRSGs using Vendor studies and internal modeling software.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
Mechanical Engineering degree strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
This position requires a general knowledge of the fundamental concepts of mechanical power plant equipment and systems.
Ability to analyze critical situations and determine competent solutions that can be implemented in a safe and effective manner.
General ability to utilize computer drawing programs and read engineering drawings.
Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse teams consisting of vendors, plant personnel, and other T&PS personnel to achieve successful project results.
Ability to successfully interface with pressure part manufacturers and other utility technical support suppliers (EPRI, HRSG suppliers, duct burner suppliers, etc.) in a professional manner.
Knowledge of NDE inspection techniques and processes is a plus.
Physical ability to climb ladders and in crawl in tight spaces, use fall protection while working at heights, respirator use, etc.
Must be proficient in use of computer-based applications, i.e. Microsoft Office suite.
Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.

Travel Requirements
This position does require some overnight travel (up to 50%) primarily within the Southern Company fleet with some nationwide travel.

POSITION SUMMARY
Gas Operations is responsible for supplying fuel to the Southern Company gas-fired fleet, representing approximately 25,000 MW of generating capacity in the Southern core territory. The Fuel Analyst will work closely with the gas traders, unit commitment, and real-time operations to provide reliable fuel deliveries while minimizing cost to customers. The Fuel Analyst's primary responsibility will be scheduling natural gas transactions to pipelines, tracking all activity in the gas management system, and providing ad hoc analysis and support. The job is located on the Southern Company trading floor in Birmingham, Alabama and will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to gain insight across a broad sweep of the business including natural gas markets and operations, fleet operations and power trading.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Nominate, confirm, and monitor natural gas flow on interstate pipelines
Monitor assigned pipes comparing scheduled volume to actual flow
Troubleshoot and resolve problems that restrict gas flows
Maintain and verify the accuracy of scheduling data in Southern's gas management system for tracking and accounting purposes
Develop trading expertise, purchasing and selling gas while identifying the optimal approach for reliability and cost
Develop a thorough understanding of the operational aspects of pipelines and their tariffs
Provide analytical support for trading and scheduling activities; develop tools to optimize supply and transportation assets
Participate in weekend back-up rotation, and back-up other team members as needed

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support for SPC Solar Operations Technicians (non-exempt employees) and for operating and maintaining the SPC Solar Fleet in a safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient manner. This position is accountable for safety, environmental and regulatory compliance; team development and technical direction; performance management; managing resources and work priorities; assist in developing O&M and Capital budgets and management; development and management of solar maintenance strategy and PMs; Coordination of contracts and contractors; and other related goals as required by the business.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain familiarity with all maintenance activities within the facilities and keep abreast of ongoing issues
Perform periodic walk-downs and visual inspections of each site in coordination with Solar Technicians, as well as provide back-up & support for some tasks.
Assist in managing the overall compliance of the solar sites including but not limited to safety, environmental, financial, and contract/contractor management.
Provide leadership and direction to ensure safe and compliant LOTO program for solar.
Assist in the development and manage Capital and O&M budgets to meet year-end projections. Write/approve purchase requisitions, invoices, etc.
Provide project management leadership and support as required.
Work with SPC M&D ROC to monitor operational activities and alarms for solar sites.
Administer work flow process in Maximo. Review CRs daily and ensure work orders are prioritized, planned, executed, and closed out.
Provide Asset Management of all solar sites including performing and maintaining a maintenance strategy for each solar facility with optimized PMs.
Work with vendors and contractors in the proper maintenance and operation of the solar facilities.
Develop and implement an inventory management process for solar sites.
Work with other departments (New Generation, Renewables, etc.) as necessary on all new site and project development activities.
Experience with contractor maintenance and management.
Assist plant technicians with equipment troubleshooting and/or maintenance as required by emergency or availability.
Manage above responsibilities at multiple sites and with multiple site crews in the specified region
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
BS or Associates Electrical/Electronics degree a plus.
Supervisory experience including performance management preferred.
Three years of work experience in generating plant maintenance or operations required.
Experience with asset management (System Ownership) within a generating plant or equivalent work experience. Project management experience preferred.
Working knowledge of MAXIMO or similar work order management program required.
Be knowledgeable of site PPA(s) to maximize profit through production and maintenance planning.
Computer skills as required to understand and communicate with digital-based devices.
Advanced knowledge of AC and DC electrical circuits.

This position is a physically demanding position , works four, ten-hour days and requires overnight and out-of-town stays during the week near the construction site. Depending on work location, you could be away from home as many as 200 nights per year.
Travel expenses, hotel expenses and meals are the responsibility of the Apprentice Electrician and a per diem (daily allowance paid by the day) is provided to help cover these costs.
This position is covered under the Memorandum of Agreement between Georgia Power Company and the IBEW Local No. 84 which includes a pay increase every six months until you max out in your job classification. Currently there is also a cost of living increase annually. This position is subject to call-out overtime work, scheduled overtime work, and storm restoration response. Under the Memorandum of Agreement, candidates hired as Apprentice Electricians into Section 6A are required to fulfill a 2 year obligation before they are eligible to bid into other company positions.

Apprentice Electricians in Transmission Construction will undergo an extensive training program, including classroom and on-the-job training. The training program lasts approximately 3 to 3 years.

Candidates who are not deemed competent to participate in the accelerated program will be placed into our Apprentice Training Program.
Upon successful completion of the training, the employee is eligible to bid on Electrician positions as they become available.

Partner with Engineer and Distribution Supervisors to help develop teams in the Macon Distribution Area.
Additional duties include: Partnering with Region External, Region Distribution and Trouble Supervisors, Distribution/ Network, TMC Supervisors, and Engineering Supervisors to ensure customer satisfaction, quality of construction and responsiveness to all customer events are met. The position will be tasked with developing innovative methods to improve processes, drive efficiencies/productivity and implement strategy.
Education:
High School Diploma/Equivalent; college degree is a plus
Experience Requirements:
Seven years of distribution construction and/or distribution experience and knowledge of the construction, maintenance, and restoration of both overhead and underground services.
Extensive Storm Restoration Experience required.
Knowledge of and experience implementing Section "0", Smith Driving System, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, DOPs, Tagging and Switching Procedures, Distribution Construction Standards, DOT requirements, environmental guidelines, and applicable OSHA regulations.
Working knowledge of Memorandum of Agreement, Customer Service Standards, Corporate Compliance Policies and the Code of Ethics.
Performance management experience and/or insightful understanding of the process of setting clear expectations and holding others accountable.
Demonstrated experience or ability to quickly learn applications that include but are not limited to: ARMS, ARCOS TCMS Web, Dist View, JETS, MOBI, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
