This position is an exciting opportunity for engineers who enjoy the challenges and responsibilities of overseeing and supporting the construction of natural gas transmission and distribution facilities. The right candidate must be a self-starter and able to make sound decisions. Incumbents in this role provide project-level technical support and administer external resources who construct gas utility infrastructure, while delivering on financial and operating objectives. The Project Engineer promotes quality and safety expectations and ensures that those standards are met within a functional area.

Functional Expertise:

  • Support the development of technical procedures, projects, and engineering designs related to natural gas pipelines, regulator stations and associated appurtenances by interacting with staff and performing quality reviews to ensure designs meet PHMSA, State, and Company standards

  • Makes decisions in the field and coordinates with internal and/or external service providers and support departments (Engineering, System Operations, System Planning, Integrity Management and Material Standards) to ensure that work is performed as planned and in accordance with applicable codes and standards

  • Inspects Construction (safety, compliance, quality, locates and restoration)

  • Reviews and approves reports, field changes, and as-built records to ensure compliance and company standards and policies

  • Updates as necessary, Management, Engineering and other applicable stakeholders on project progress

Business Acumen:

  • Develop permanent records and evaluation processes to an established standard

  • Support the design of engineering solutions that provide the most efficient and cost-effective long-term solutions for ongoing issues with the Company's natural gas system

  • Ensure that applicable requirements and standards for reporting are followed

  • Assure compliance with Company policies & procedures

  • Identify and properly manage project risk

  • Collaborate with Construction Operations, Engineering, GIS and Asset Data Services, System Integrity and System Planning leaders to produce effective solutions and designs

  • Demonstrated success in multiple utility-related departments (i.e. Design Engineering, Construction Operations, Cathodic Protection, Standards Development, PMO, System Planning, Field Ops, Integrity Management, etc.)

  • 2 years familiarity and experience with Gas Safety regulations or utility pipeline construction practices

Preferred:

  • Master of Business Administration or MS in Engineering

Dispatcher

We are looking for a reliable Dispatcher to provide effective and efficient scheduling and routing of emergency and non-emergency work to field technicians. Provide excellent customer service with inbound customer inquiries as well as outbound follow-up calls. Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive customer experience while running an efficient operation providing best in class service. The Dispatcher is responsible for setting up the technician's workload assignments, monitoring those assignments, and supporting the Field Technicians and the Call Centers. Must be able to respond to inquiries quickly and accurately to best utilize resources.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors emergency and non-emergency orders to ensure orders are routed and completed by the appointed time including emergency locates.

  • Routes filler work to field service personnel by dispatching work orders via Mobile Data and/or Radio; by date and compliance deadline.

  • Evaluates field service routes; provides optimized routes for various field service personnel; adjusts field service personnel allocations based on quantity and severity of workload, and availability of resources.

  • Monitors field personnel efficiency throughout the day and makes recommendations to Resource Management Supervision based on findings.

  • Assigns, dispatches, and tracks emergency orders to ensure compliance to standards.

  • Gathers information for Pre-Notice of Incident (NOI) Reports; routes to Public Service Commission (PSC), Utility Protection Center (UPC), Community Affairs and Safety, Security & Corporate Compliance, STS).

  • Assists Sr. Dispatcher during mass outages to obtain information and coordinate activities of field service personnel.

  • Complete the 2pm route review to determine the need for overtime to complete remaining workload and report findings to the service center Point of Contact.

  • Verifies completion of previous day's orders; investigates and takes action on incomplete orders.

  • Assists field service personnel (e.g., checks account histories, meter status, premise conditions, appliance type and quantity, Meter Order Field Reading (MOFR), Shut Off for Non-Payment (SONP) orders, pending, why-noted orders).

  • Assists Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) with Estimated Time of Arrivals (ETAs) and technical questions; interprets codes and clarifies field service personnel comments.

  • Understand the basics fundamentals of Sentinel and the forecasting model.

Description

LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) TECHNICIAN

Basic Function:

Directly responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of the natural gas liquefaction, boiloff, and vaporization process systems for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant 365 days a year. Responsible for the analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing of all plant equipment and performing all preventive maintenance to ensure the proper calibration of the process equipment and control instrumentation. Trains new LNG technicians as well as other plant personnel. Provides shift coverage for operators during operation and works at other plants when the need arises. Works with high pressure gas, cryogenic liquids (-260 degrees), high temperature machinery, high electrical voltage (4160 volts), combustion chambers and at elevated heights.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains and repairs equipment and controls (e.g., gas turbines, security/ surveillance systems, large industrial engines/compressors, generators, boilers, gas/air regulator, control valves, cooling fans, and smart transmitters).

  • Provides proactive preventative maintenance (PM) activities (e.g., major engine/compressor overhauls, annual inspections, relief/control valve testing, switch calibrations). Must maintain records on computer system to ensure compliance with state, federal, and Company policies and regulations.

  • Trouble shoots equipment and system problems (e.g., AC/DC circuits, computer controlled loops, programming, ignition systems, leak repairs, hazard detection systems, thermal transfer, medium voltage (4160), low voltage, high temperature combustion chambers); repairs or replaces as required.

  • Maintains LNG tanker systems and portable vaporization equipment (e.g., repairs leaks, calibrates instruments and trains field personnel companywide). Maintains tanker and hazardous materials endorsements.

  • Prioritizes/plans PMs to meet the needs of all the LNG plants.

  • Performs inventory control functions and utilizing material management system.

  • Responds to emergency call outs and demands of the LNG plant and/or Gas Control on 24/7 basis.

  • Maintains availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime/extended hours.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 3-5 years' experience maintaining and repairing industrial mechanical, electrical, electronic equipment and systems.

Preferred:

Job Summary

This position performs transmission studies on the Southern Company bulk power system and provides engineering support for the months, weeks and days leading up to real time conditions. These studies could range from analyzing the impacts of planned transmission and generator maintenance outages to transmission service requests and assessing Southern Company's transfer capability (interface analysis) to support requirements under the Open Access Transmission Tariff. Studies often include a high degree of coordination within Southern Company and with neighboring utilities. Operations planning engineers are expected to analyze issues, develop solutions and work with the necessary individuals (internal and external) to create favorable system conditions for the real-time operators of the Southern Company bulk power system to reliably operate the system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Education Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Specialization in Power Systems desired

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering a plus

Experience Requirements

  • Experience with computer modeling, simulations, and data analysis a plus

  • Experience with computer modeling and/or analyses of electrical power systems preferred

  • Experience with PSS/E and/or real-time power flow tools a plus

  • Experience with engineering studies that support Open Access Transmission Tariff requests a plus

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform computer modeling/simulation studies including a wide range of scenarios to determine the adequacy of the Southern Company bulk power system

  • On-call duties, one week at a time every 6-7 weeks (impact outside business hours minimal)

  • Some overnight travel may be required but this would be minimal

The Alabama Power Marketing Strategy Analyst is responsible for developing strategic plans and valuation models, assisting in preparing presentations to describe the strategic rationale, creating perspectives on the strategic landscapes, and assisting in due diligence. JOB SUMMARY:

This position will support the IT security infrastructure leveraged by our Security Operations Center. Infrastructure technologies include but are not limited to Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms, Netflow, Full Packet Analytics and much more. This position works with other business unit SMEs to ensure the technologies are integrated and fully utilized as intended in the protection of Southern Company's cyber related assets. The role is a technical hands-on role with lots of troubleshooting and problem-solving opportunities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

  • A formal education in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience in IT Security related roles is required for this position. Network/Security/System admin experience is preferred.

  • Minimum 4 years supporting IT Infrastructure or Information Security devices/technologies.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting and managing Splunk Enterprise deployments, as well as understanding of Data and System Administration using Splunk is highly desired. Experience with distributed clustered environments is a plus

  • Minimum of 3 years of comprehensive working knowledge of Linux, Unix is a must, and Windows OS is a plus.

  • Scripting skills such as Perl, Python, and/or Shell scripting are a plus.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be responsible for the Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services activities in the Atlanta Metro Transmission Maintenance area. Summary

The Area Manager is responsible for providing exceptional community leadership in Bulloch, Screven, Candler and Evans counties while championing the customer, promoting Georgia Power's business interests, and growing revenue. This position will be responsible for building relationships of influence with government officials at all levels, as well as business and community leaders to ensure no legislation, regulations, local ordinances, or other items negatively impact the company, our external relationships, or our ability to provide the highest level of customer value.

Storage Utility Specialist

Description

Entry level position into Nicor Gas Underground Natural Gas Storage and Peaking Operations Department. This position will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks associated with the safe operation of various components and equipment associated with our high-pressure Natural Gas Storage and Transmission assets. This role will work in a team environment as well as have individual assignments. This role will be required to certify after a designated training period and will become enrolled into the Union after 30 days.

Some basic tasks shall include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Safely and effectively work to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Perform asset inspections, including painting and applying protective coatings.

  • Obtain and document surface wellhead pressures and flows as assigned.

  • Change surface equipment pressure and flow recording charts as assigned.

  • Place surface wellhead equipment online or offline.

  • Conduct Transmission City Gate Regulating Station inspections, including changing pressure and flow recording charts as assigned.

  • Recognize AOC's (Abnormal Operating Conditions) and take appropriate actions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Valid drivers license with good driving record and ability to obtain a CDL within probationary period prior to final certification, including passing company driving tests.

  • Preferred:

  • Technical degree or certification with operations or equivalent work experience in technical trades such as welding, machinist, equipment mechanic or engineering.

Related Work Experience:

Required:

  • Previous experience with Mechanical Systems and Operations.

  • Preferred:

  • Previous experience with Oil and Gas Operations, Petrochemical Operations, or Technical Process Operations.

Applicant May possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:

  • Must be able to read, write and interpret written materials, including understanding drawings, blueprints, charts, etc.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interpret information in both verbal and written formats.

  • Must be able to utilize computers for accomplishing work tasks.

  • Must be able to pass Operator Qualification written and demonstrative tasks.

Preferred:

  • Fork lift experience

  • Aerial platform experience

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work at elevated heights

  • Must be physically able to walk for extended periods, stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to utilize hand tools, shovels, brooms, etc.

  • Must have a keen sense of smell, hearing, visual and color identification

  • Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required.

  • Will be required to wear Fire Retardant Clothing and Personnel Protective Equipment
