The Buyer is a member of the Global Sourcing and Procurement team and acts as an authorized agent of the company by making purchase commitments that meet the company requirements and to facilitate the supplier performance management processes to support long term material and service requirements.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, negotiate pricing and supply agreements for assigned commodities and services

  2. Analyze MRP data to ensure appropriate ordering levels to meet Company objectives

  3. Execute purchase orders, including schedule line agreements and blanket orders, to meet Company demand for materials and services, which are sometimes complex in nature. Ensure all requirements, pricing, terms and conditions, and expectations are clearly documented, and manage exception messages by expediting, delaying or canceling orders as required.

  4. Support internal customers by providing information on purchasing processes, products and suppliers. Mitigate problems by understanding customer requirements and anticipating issues that provide value in resolving supplier and purchasing related issues.

  5. Administer bid processes, including preparation of RFQ packages, to ensure product and service requirements are documented. Evaluate suppliers' proposal for price, requirements, terms and conditions, risk and performance and value.

  6. Maintain master data in the ERP system for Info Records, Routes, Material Masters etc. Determine MRP system settings to optimize inventory, based on established guidelines. Resolve system reconciliation issues such as invoice and receiving discrepancies.

  7. Negotiate with suppliers by developing negotiation strategies based upon the proposal analysis to include price/cost factors, terms and conditions, and technical issues and documents and maintains contractual agreements.

  8. Address day-to-day issues with supplier performance, such as rejections/quality issues and supplier requested schedule changes, ensuring SAP system is accurate. Support or facilitate supplier performance review meetings.

  9. Provide feedback to support strategic sourcing, including assessments of the current situation (e.g., internal direction, suppliers, pricing trends) and identify future purchase strategies and actions to proactively reduce total costs and optimize performance.

  10. Develop and apply technical knowledge of products assigned for purchase to add value into purchasing functions.

  11. Other accountabilities as assigned.

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment; or in lieu of Bachelor's degree, 5 years of continued advancement in a manufacturing, or business environment, plus three years of technical purchasing experience. Total experience of at least 8 years without a Bachelor's degree.

Primary Objective:

To perform timely, efficient and cost effective in-house systems performance (calibration, performance testing, troubleshooting, rework, system hook-up and tear down, repairs, checkout and customer acceptance testing) and on-site systems installation in a manner which directly contributes to customer satisfaction and maintenance of MTS quality standards.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Performs operational tests at the direction of the project engineer to ensure that MTS quality standards are maintained. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of system performance deficiencies or operational problems encountered during performance testing. Works with appropriate sub-job engineer to resolve problems and to achieve system acceptance.

  2. Travels to customer site, domestic or foreign, to perform on-site installation, calibration, modification or upgrades on systems. Installation may include uncrating, moving equipment to proper location, system hook-up, testing of functionality, acceptance testing and customer operational training. May handle engineering and/or service issues. Seeks out and utilizes the most efficient and effective travel arrangements within MTS policy when traveling on company business.

  3. Ensures proper system configuration, function, performance, calibration and system integrity while following established procedures on standard systems and products or custom checkout plans on custom systems at the direction of the project engineer.

  4. Conducts self in a professional and confident manner. Establishes and maintains proper working relationship with engineering staff and customers, both in-house and during installations.

  5. May be requested to conduct training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of company systems and products for customers or other MTS personnel. Training may be in-house or at the customer site. Gives technical advice, within scope of expertise, to customers or employees regarding operation, servicing and maintenance as well as product application to assure maximum customer satisfaction with the systems capabilities and performance.

  6. Plans and schedules all daily activities to make the most productive and efficient use of time. May be required to expedite parts prior to checking, final acceptance or installation to achieve required systems performance in an expeditious manner. Continually strives to reduce cost and improve quality in every aspect of the job. Takes personal initiative in seeking out solutions to problems. Requests support from supervisor when required.

  7. Follows a self development/improvement program to broaden his/her knowledge of the company's products, systems and enhance skills in field servicing. Participates in establishment of training plans which may include on the job training, mentoring and formal training.

  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and always strives to follow all MTS policies.

Qualifications:

  • AA degree or 2 year vo-tech certificate, or 4 years technician experience

  • 1 year applicable technician experience

  • Knowledge of hydraulics & high degree of mechanical aptitude desirable.

  • Should be able to communicate effectively.

  • Electrical/electronics experience is a plus.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of an assigned production area. The Production Supervisor oversees all areas of floor operations, production work force, material handling, customer returns, and shipping/receiving.

  • Manage a team of production employees by coaching, guiding, conducting reviews, managing time, enforcing policies/procedures, and counseling when necessary; participate in recruiting process and train and onboard new employees as needed.

  • Oversee the workflow in all assigned manufacturing work areas

  • Manage production resources, workflow and scheduling to assure customer requirements or stated lead-times or met.

  • Plan and schedule all work based on business needs.

  • Conduct quality audits and provide feedback when procedures are not correct; evaluate and recommend suggestions following audit for continuous improvement.

  • Maintain method sheet accuracy by performing regular audits, ensuring methods are up-to-date, support production for interpretation of methods to follow set standards and retrain employees when necessary.

  • Interpret and support quality policies and implement guidelines to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Recommend and drive improvements that help reduce waste and costs and improve yields and efficiencies.

  • Manage process changes and ensure they are properly implemented.

  • Work closely with the Environmental and Safety Manager to ensure all members of the operations team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.

  • Maintain compliance with safety and environmental procedures by performing and documenting regular audits and following up on the findings. Provide feedback when procedures are not correct.

  • Train employees on processes, safety, quality, and Kan Ban process.

  • Review inventory grading reports for accuracy and recommend corrections.

  • Manage cycle count system, create records, and provide training to employees on their role in monthly/quarterly cycle counts.

  • Maintain production metrics and data such as lead times, cost savings tracking and scrap; make recommendations for improvements.

  • Hold regular scrap review meetings, document minutes and follow up on action items to address scrap issues.

  • Notify sales and/or customer service concerning delays and shortages with products.

  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques, developing employees to understand and use the tools, and making process improvement recommendations to management.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

*Education: * Associate degree in a Business or Technical field required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a management position preferably in an operations/manufacturing environment that utilizes best practices such as 5S, Kanban, JIT, or pull inventory systems, Value Stream Mapping, and a formal quality management system such as ISO 9001.

  • Highly motivated and results oriented.

  • Highly knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and stays current in assembly/manufacturing technology and trends

  • Strong working knowledge of business financials and accounting practices.

  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, managing business unit budgets.

The Quality Engineer maintains overall responsibility for supplier's controls and performance monitoring. The QE will also be responsible for the following:

  • Follows all ISO 9001 quality system requirements and plant safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

About the opportunity:
