Job Description

What We're Looking For

Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Responsible to develop calculations for various bridge design and/or rehabilitation projects

  • Responsible to develop design details for various bridge design and/or rehabilitation projects

  • Assist with development of Specifications and Construction Cost Estimates for various bridge design and/or rehabilitation projects

  • Responsible to develop load rating calculations and technical reports for bridge evaluation projects

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)

What We're Looking For

What We're Looking For

HNTB is seeking a Traffic Safety Project Engineer to help lead a team that is involved with numerous and diverse traffic safety opportunities and initiatives.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Lead traffic safety assignments that provide essential information to our clients to assist them with numerous traffic safety initiatives.

  • Manage and assist with crash analysis studies using the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Crash Analysis software and crash diagrams using Microstation and ArcGIS software. These studies and diagrams are essential to determination of proposed traffic safety improvements on our transportation network.

  • Interpret the results of various traffic safety analyses to effectively report specific findings.

  • Conduct independent on-site field investigations of locations and make recommendations for traffic safety countermeasures.

  • Assist with Project Management activities and other opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • North Carolina Department of Transportation Experience

What We're Looking For

Join our growing team in Oakland! This position supports the technical editing and writing for a range of simple to complex documents and graphics on transformative transportation projects. Responsible for performing editing, formatting and quality reviews to ensure consistency in written project materials. Also will work directly with technical staff to develop accurate and persuasive content for planning, engineering, and environmental reports and studies.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Perform technical edits of documents using AP Style.

  • Edit and format content written by others, ensuring consistency in writing style/voice, formatting and approach throughout various documents using AP Style.

  • Develop templates in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • Format Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents.

  • Design graphics for project deliverables - ranges from tables/charts in Word to maps in Illustrator/In Design.

  • Perform quality reviews of written deliverables.

  • Work with technical staff to write content for client deliverables.

  • Interact with HNTB staff to create initial materials, concepts, and ideas that conform to client needs and timelines.

What We're Looking For

Responsible for assisting in the production of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.

Primary Focus Will Include:
