Machinist for Mapleton Foundry - Labor grade 4 - Pay starts at $25.56/hr. plus night shift premium.

The Caterpillar Mapleton facility is adding jobs and growing! We are in need of hiring more employees due to the additional work being brought into the facility.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Set up, operate and adjust automatic lathes to perform complex combinations of operations to tight tolerances on a variety of parts

  • Set up, operate and adjust one or more numerically controlled drilling and boring machines where the feeds, speeds and cycle are fully controlled by encoded instructions. Machining programs, tool layouts and encoded instructions are usually provided

  • Applying safe working methods

  • Operates control station to monitor and control melting station

  • Analyzes control signals

  • Controls melting operations

  • Detects deviations and initiates corrective action

  • Sets up, operates and adjusts one or more numerically controlled drilling and boring machines (with or without milling capabilities) where the feeds, speeds and cycle are fully controlled by encoded instructions.

  • Machining programs, tool layouts and encoded instructions are usually provided.

  • May be required to operate machine manually, override encoded instructions, or adjusts offsets as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing exp.

Caterpillar, Inc., you will be responsible for building, installing, and repairing electrical components used on machine tools and plant equipment. You will use your technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical equipment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Electrically troubleshoot and repair complex machine tools and related equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair relay logic machines and CNC/PLC controlled machines

  • Apply knowledge of electronic circuits to locate defects using instruments

  • Test faulty equipment

  • Calibrate and service electronic testing instruments

  • Support electrical aspects of new equipment installations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining electrical equipment in an industrial environment.

  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing CNC/PLCcontrolled machines.

  • Experience withAC/DC analog and digital drives.

  • Ability to demonstrate intermediate or higherproficiency in reading and interpreting machine tool prints/schematics

  • Basic mechanical skills

  • Develop facility capital and expense projects.

  • Administer controls on NPI / NCI process introduction to ensure that production processes are designed around Engineering drawings with respect to on-time NPI build.

  • Collaborate with Facilities / Maintenance, EHS, Quality, Operations, and the Foundry by engaging in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic / safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks and quality concerns.

  • Work with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.

  • Provide the application, procurement, processing, installation and capability of new heat treat, mold-core making, melting and / or chemical processes and equipment.

  • Coordinate the purchase and application of machine tools, controls, and related equipment to ensure the latest technology is being used to increase efficiency and economy of operations.

  • Design, develop and implement the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation, and systems application.

  • Provide manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.

  • Design complex or intricate jigs and fixtures.

As an Inventory Analyst you will, support the CLS effort in achieving the client's inventory/customer service objectives in a manner consistent with CLS objectives through project work. You will be expected to understand the Claims and Returns processes in SPM and manage to implement changes to C&R functionality in Service Parts Management (SPM). You will be expected to have an understanding of the returns process at the warehouse level. You will be responsible for managing processes to ensure that Cat Parts Division inventory accuracy levels are maintained and improved. You will be involved in training client and dealer personnel at different levels including management, salaried, and hourly on processes associated with claims/returns and inventory record accuracy and their importance in overall supply chain management.

Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • The incumbent is basically project oriented with projects being assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader.

  • Duration of projects run from two to three days to several months and are worked concurrently with other projects. Projects taken on by the incumbent usually involve extensive data analysis and require the incumbent to be able to apply the results to the current situation. The incumbent usually works from detailed instructions and receives guidance frequently during completion of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a more complex or larger facility which can include multiple clients within the facility or more sophisticated processes such as those found in a manufacturing parts node facility (i.e., large receiving areas, repackaging, export/import, heavy kitting operations, etc.).

  • Promoting/supporting day-to-day operational safety issues with support of management team.

As an Advanced Warehouse Associate at Caterpillar Inc., you will also be assigned to inspect and operate specialized logistics equipment. In conjunction with this role, you will work from a variety of source documents to verify part numbers, part locations and quantities. In addition to counting parts and filling orders, this position requires first line, basic quality assessment of parts for damage and defects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assigned to specialized equipment: i.e., Reach Trucks, Order Pickers, Turret Trucks

  • Consistently meet equipment-specific efficiency targets

  • Utilizing and inspecting heavy equipment including sit down fork truck, pallet jack and overhead hoists

  • Perform material handling and warehousing functions, Order filling, processing, storing/ picking of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies

  • Operating automated packaging equipment, shipping, and receiving

  • Multiple systems interactions

  • Interaction with carrier drivers

  • Adhere to all facility safety policies and procedures

  • Uses machines for weighing, banding, wrapping, packaging, stenciling, etc.

  • Operates electronic hardware to receive material into inventory, including iPads

  • Performs 5S/housekeeping functions as required

Physical Qualifications :

  • Frequently lift parts up to 35 pounds individually or 70 pound as team lift

  • Frequently bending, reaching, and squatting while performing tasks

  • Consistent usage of required PPE for task being performed

  • Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures

  • Frequently work at heights of up to 30 feet from the floor

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous distribution center, warehouse, and/or order filling experience

  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 30 feet from the floor

  • Good attendance record

  • Ability to work overtime when required

  • The ability to cross reference material to documentation for verification

JOB PURPOSE:

Provides application and technical leadership in the development of detailed system specifications for major business/infrastructure and/or development, integration, and implementation projects. JOB DUTIES:

Responsibilities of the incumbents are across functional lines with individuals assigned in new program development and/or maintenance of existing mobile, WEB, Cloud, server, personal computer, mainframe, and/or distributed computing systems.

  • Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.

  • Acts as team leader for development and support groups; provides program and application/technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members.

  • Facilitates support of E&T in-flight NPI programs requiring remote monitoring services and data ingestion for business development. Has experience and exposure managing through the NPI Gateway process tool.

  • Acts as owner for NPI requirements and development in the COGMD Digital team, ensuring new technologies are properly vetted and validated.

  • Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.

  • Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.

  • Develops major system modules, programs, or integrates infrastructure components based on requirements gathered from customers.

  • Leads integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.

  • Fully knowledgeable of the relevant program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage and internal systems and cross platform infrastructure components; can provide training on these topics for others.

  • Performs implementation and integration tasks for medium to large, complex in-house developed systems and/or purchased software solutions.

  • Assists customers with documentation, training and usability efforts.

  • Integrates processes across functional organizations.

The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the incumbent normally works independently with minimal management input and review of end results.

Typical customers include Caterpillar customers, dealers, other external companies who purchase services offered by Caterpillar as well as internal business unit and/or service center groups. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

Requires a relevant degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience.

The incumbent should be knowledgeable of the relevant programming languages; computing hardware and software; infrastructure elements, and current development processes and tools. Six to ten years in development and support work related to systems or infrastructure is common. In addition, the incumbent should have a good knowledge of Caterpillar policies and procedures, and a general understanding of Caterpillar's organization.

Job Purpose: The Facilities Services Supervisor is responsible for campus housekeeping/janitorial services. This position is also the primary contact and facilitator for maintenance and repair of personal workspaces and common areas throughout the facility. This position will supervise 1-6 direct employees and direct multiple contractors responsible for performing facility services.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and managing janitorial cleaning and beautification schedules for the campus. This includes contract ownership and work direction for janitorial services, carpet cleaning, floor scrubbing, window cleaning, pest control and similar services and direct supervision of Plant Engineering Laborers and in-house facility painters.

  • Decisions made by the incumbent on projects will impact facility work environments, productivity, operating costs, and Caterpillar's image as perceived by customers, dealers, employees, and shareholders. The incumbent is the direct contact for office space maintenance. Incumbent works directly with security, maintenance, administrative assistants, outside vendors, IT, contractors, and project engineers.

  • Challenges of this position include: quickly and correctly identifying problems, working with people and facilitating teamwork; clearly communicating project requirements and deliverables; reviewing and recommending approval of supplier invoices; preparing and issuing purchase orders and work tickets; creating on-going lists of unfinished work items, and follows-up ensuring items are completed on time to meet project deadlines, gaining input from team members; and monitoring team's achievement of project objectives, facilitating project completion and closeout.

  • Management of personnel relocations and documentation of assigned desk locations.

  • Support of all audio/visual equipment in conference rooms, offices and visitor centers including managing contracts and resources that support this work.

  • Management and coordination of office furniture and desk accessory requests including budgeting and repair.

  • Key replacements and lockset repair/replacement.

  • Audio/visual troubleshooting, repair & replacement including data & power.

  • Project management skills are required for small remodel and repair jobs. Likely projects include carpet repairs, flooring replacement and repairs, minor office area remodels, wall painting and repairs.

  • Requires interpersonal skills and communications, also requires organizational and leadership skills with the ability to direct a diverse team of suppliers and specialized professionals. Incumbent must have the ability to grasp complex business processes, interpret facility needs and issues, assist in developing appropriate solutions, and effectively implement at the project and transactional levels.

  • Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree with 1 years of relevant work experience, OR Associates level degree with 3 years relevant work experience, OR no degree with 5 years relevant work experience.

  • Understand of shop operations and maintenance procedures.

  • Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background.

  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
