Provides supply network solutions expertise, using Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) to deliver maximum value.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

To serve as the primary contact between Caterpillar and the supply base for global/regional initiatives, including filling the functional seat for commercial discussions/negotiations with suppliers, being the recognized expert for his or her assigned portion of the global category, supports development and execution of global category strategies, and drives performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) through direct leverage with the supply base partnering with Supplier Development Professional (SDP) personnel and Product/Facility Procurement organizations. Buyer may also be a Supplier Lead for suppliers with multiple source buyers. This Supplier Lead role will help to manage the supplier relationship for that supplier's location including but not limited to Supplier Relationship Mgmt., Supplier Performance Mgmt., Cost Mgmt., Risk Mgmt., and Category Network Mgmt. This role is responsible and accountable for the development, and/or communication and implementation of a regional, and worldwide sourcing strategy. Responsible for development, management and execution of the global category strategy managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs. Accountable for the liaison with the corresponding source buyers.

Leadership - Provide leadership for strategic sourcing -qualified supply network, business continuity, supplier risk management - capacity & financial, logistics, contract management, supplier commercial negotiations, cost/spend management - TCA assurance, supplier on boarding/off boarding, lead/response time optimization and resource management decisions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and purchasing new product introduction activities within Purchasing. Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost and inventory reductions, and quality improvement; as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment. Mentor and develop other Category Buyers, and Supply Network Specialists (where assigned). Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics.

Strategy - Tools and Techniques of 6 Sigma will be required and may be attained by Black Belt, Green Belt, Project Sponsor, or other 6 Sigma related training programs. The incumbent will actively participate on 6 Sourcing Strategic Sourcing teams to fully understand the current performance of the supply network, evaluate strategic options, decide a course of action, and begin implementation. The incumbent must also have strong knowledge of the product, Facility, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Category Strategies.

Supplier Development - Collaboration with key suppliers, to ensure continuous improvement in QCLDM with key suppliers. Build and foster mutually beneficial supplier relationships at all organizational levels.

Functional Leadership - Capable of leading teams, suppliers and customers to effective solutions. Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill.

Basic Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a college or university - OR equivalent experience

  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible job-related experience

Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Experience is preferred in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering

  • Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, and reaching consensus on specific actions

To serve as the primary contact between Caterpillar and the supply base for global/regional initiatives, including filling the functional seat for commercial discussions/negotiations with suppliers, being the recognized expert for his or her assigned portion of the global category, supports development and execution of global category strategies, and drives performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) through direct leverage with the supply base partnering with Supplier Development Professional (SDP) personnel and Product/Facility Procurement organizations. To develop and manage a facility / product group master scheduling process for all APP line that is innovative and promotes maximization of efficiency and optimization of resources/assets internally while retaining enough flexibility to ensure that all customer needs are met in a timely and cost-conscious manner. Analyze and underwrite amendment and modification requests and ensure appropriate documentation and security filings. Ensure appropriate customer service, accurate systems set-up and reporting.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  1. Executes duties and responsibilities independently with general management supervision. Utilizes Legal, Tax and other support functions within CFSC, if needed to ensure compliance with laws and regulations in multiple international jurisdictions.

  2. Communicates with customers, dealers, banking partners, CFSC, internal and external counsel and other lenders to negotiate transaction issues and develops appropriate documentation with international parties in multiple jurisdictions. Ensures that all conditions of the transaction credit approval are correctly documented in the documentation package for each transaction.

  3. Prepares and reviews standard and non-standard transaction documentation and necessary amendments and recommends execution to CMF management and CFSC Legal.

  4. Explains documents and conditions precedent to funding to customers and banking partners and negotiates complex documentation issues. Approves exceptions to standard practice within authority level.

  5. Confirms insurance coverage against standard requirements, follows up for any deficiencies and verifies and/or negotiates coverage to complete the document file.

  6. Underwrites transaction modifications and restructures within authority and ensures accurate and timely processing of documentation and accounting system changes. Transactions frequently will be large, complex and involve project finance, construction finance, syndications, permanent and bridge finance, specialized leases, subordinated debt, domestic and cross-border US dollar denominated instruments and frequently involve foreign currencies and jurisdictions.

  7. Consults with Legal Services Division to review contract documents and may oversee the booking and funding of transactions.

  8. Finds solutions to mitigate potentially serious risks inherent in proposed amendments and modifications of transactions. Overcomes obstacles to successfully close the deal, while not degrading portfolio quality.

  9. Explains, defends, persuades and stands up for recommendations and position taken for all interested parties, while respecting underwriting recommendations and decisions. Interested parties can and may include, end-user customer, marketing organizations of Caterpillar Divisions, staff and management of Business Units, banking syndicate partners and Financial Products Division (FPD) credit staff and executives.

  10. Visits existing and prospective customers to gather pertinent information for the initial underwriting, as well as maintain a valid risk profile on existing large transaction customers. Performs reviews and assessments of existing large transactions to ensure the relative risk rating and overall portfolio quality has not deteriorated.

  11. Develops and maintains a knowledge base respecting certain regions and countries of the world. Maintains a readiness and capability of sharing this information with other Business Unit staff regarding requirements for conducting business in these regions and countries. Develops a network of FPD and Caterpillar Inc. contacts, which can provide additional valuable insight regarding conducting business in these regions and countries of the world.

  12. Manages the loan covenant compliance process and various loan retention accounts during the term of the loan.

  13. Ensures adequate collection efforts related to assigned portfolio while maintaining goodwill with customers.

  14. Analyzes past due results and provides regular portfolio updates to management regarding collection activity and other portfolio performance parameters.

  15. Recommends additions, deletions and modifications to the Potential Credit Loss Report.

  16. Provides thoughtful and timely answers to customer inquiries and works to resolve customer service issues related to invoicing, due date changes, principal reductions, account reconciliations, interest paid letters, buyout quotes and other similar issues.

  17. Ensures completion of all activities necessary to establish and maintain proper security interest in collateral related to affected loans and leases.

  18. Works with Cash Applications Department to ensure correct application and accounting of funds received.

  19. Completes accurate and timely processing of contract terminations, which includes but is not limited to, preparing and sending paid-in-full documents and releasing liens and/or mortgages.

  20. Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them.

To develop and manage a facility / product group master scheduling process for all APP line that is innovative and promotes maximization of efficiency and optimization of resources/assets internally while retaining enough flexibility to ensure that all customer needs are met in a timely and cost-conscious manner. Lead the development and execution of global Drivetrain category strategies, and drives performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) through direct leverage with the supply base partnering with Supplier Development Professional (SDP) personnel and Product/Facility Procurement organizations. Responsible for development, management and execution of the global category strategy, managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs. Accountable for the liaison with the corresponding source buyers, design controls and suppliers.

Mentor and develop other Buyers, SQEs, and Purchasing Analysts (where assigned). Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics.

The incumbent must also have strong knowledge of the product, NPI, Facility, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Category Strategies.

Basic Requirements:

The purpose of this position is to perform the duties associated with the maintenance of facilities and equipment that support the production of Caterpillar Excavators. Maintenance Technicians report to Section Managers and will be assigned to areas within the business to meet customer and company demands.
