Job Summary

North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA is seeking a Nuclear Instrument Technician at the entry or mid-level to join the team. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Perform troubleshooting and component level repair for printed circuit boards, power supplies and other electrical/electronic circuits.

  • Ideal candidate will be a motivated self -starter with exceptional organizational skills.

  • Will be required to provide reports and documentation for component repairs.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Nuclear Instrument Technician I: 2 years of related experience.

  • Nuclear Instrument Technician II: 4 years of related experience.

  • Experience in soldering is required with surface mount component soldering desired.

  • Successful completion of the Instrument and Control Technician qualification test.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electronic equipment and circuitry.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with the general theories of instrumentation and control and their methods of application in nuclear power stations.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot analog and digital instrumentation and control circuits.

  • Demonstrated general familiarity of electrical and mechanical physical/dimensional measurements.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret a range of general diagrams, prints, and written procedural instructions and to perform work using the information.

  • Satisfactorily completes the required initial training and on-the-job training and evaluation processes in order to proceed in line of progression as identified in the Nuclear Instrument Technician Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.

  • Must be physically able and willing to utilize respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant including making containment entries.

  • Must be able to and willing to work at varying elevations, confined quarters and radiological areas of the plant. Must have the physical ability to carry a minimum of 50 pounds tooling, test equipment, and plant equipment.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required number of years of experience.

Job Summary

Engineer I, in Distribution Grid Resiliency, is part of a modeling and analysis team. The individual will provide technical support for several programs that fall under the company's Grid Transformation Plan. The Engineer will perform system studies, analyses, and modeling in order to develop project proposals that support efforts to improve grid reliability and resiliency. Job Summary

Dominion's Electric Transmission System Operations Engineering department was established to provide engineering support for reliable control and operation of the Dominion's Transmission System. Job Summary

Dominion Energy Virginia's Electric Transmission (ET) System Protection Engineering department is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to support the Company's evolving distribution grid. The primary responsibilities for this role include the design, modeling, and development of protective relay settings for Transmission, Distribution, and renewable energy interconnections. Job Responsibilities - Engineer I:

  • Learn basic protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios

  • Develop protective relay settings for System Protection Engineering (SPE) protection schemes inside the substation.

  • Provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package.

  • Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Job Summary

This role provides in depth study of protective device coordination and circuit protection for Dominion Energy's Electric distribution system. The individual in this role will size and provide settings for distribution line protection equipment to meet engineering guidelines including time-current curve separation, magnetizing inrush current, fault reach, and peak loads. The role is responsible for developing settings files for various relay-controlled equipment to ensure proper isolation of sustained and temporary faults, while in some cases also operating to automate restoration of electric service.

Responsibilities include:

- Utilize power distribution modeling software such as Synergi to perform short circuit and coordination studies

- Work closely with stakeholders, both internal and external to Dominion Energy, to provide optimal and safe device coordination while balancing reliability and customer needs with protection of distribution assets

- Provide circuit protection and device coordination support for the integration of distributed energy resources such as solar and wind, EV charging stations, and battery storage onto the Dominion Energy distribution system

- Provide three phase/symmetrical component advice to Electric Distribution Grid Planning and other groups for nonstandard designs

- Support Regional Operations Centers in addressing protection needs during planned and unplanned switching events

- Work with peers in System Protection Engineering to provide equivalent model information and ensure multifaceted projects affecting substation and distribution line protection progress effectively

- Provide direction, expertise, and advice on complex protection challenges

- Assist in storm restoration efforts as called upon primarily supporting night packaging functions

This role is fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. First level position in the engineering series provides engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Job Summary

This intern position will be responsible for assisting the Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS) organization in evaluating the risk and threats to the integrity of the gas transmission system then developing and implementing a strategic integrity management plan for the entirety of the gas transmission pipeline assets. This will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the state and federal pipeline safety regulations associated with operating and maintaining a natural gas pipeline system, while gaining insight on day-to-day workings of the Pipeline Safety department.

Location(s) of Internship: Gastonia, NC (Charlotte Area); Salt Lake City, Utah; Cleveland, Ohio

Intern Responsibilities:

- Work within the Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS) in providing engineering support of Pipeline Integrity Management (IM) plan administration, compliance, implementation, and documentation.

- Assist in the development of dashboards to communicate key performance metrics to stakeholders.

- Participate in quality assurance activities and internal audits related to pipeline safety.

- Provides engineering support of individual IM assessments, remediation activity, data analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, who is a rising sophomore or junior.

OR currently enrolled in an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

- Good written and verbal communication skills; strong work ethic and attention to detail

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Possess strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.

- Interest in gaining experience and knowledge of pipeline integrity as it pertains to the natural gas industry

- You must be available to participate in the entire 10-12 weeks of the program.

Preferred majors: Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering; Engineering Mechanics; Engineering Technology, or other related majors.

Job Summary

In this role, you will perform a variety of skilled tasks including maintenance and construction on natural gas pipelines, meters and other equipment associated with a natural gas distribution system serving 1.2 million customers. This position will be assigned individual functions and work as part of a construction & maintenance crew under the direction of a higher classification and/or supervision. In addition, Helpers learn to operate and repair tools and equipment associated with the position, safely perform pipeline-related tasks including leak repair and leak surveys, line locating, pipeline monitoring and the accurate documentation of all pipeline work performed. The position requires driving, operating and maintaining heavy equipment and vehicles. With this position, a Helper must become competent in electronic mapping and learn all compliance required to perform the job duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 0-2 years of experience

  • Must obtain a Class A commercial drivers license and all applicable endorsements/restrictions (automatic, pintle hook, air brakes) before the end of the newly hired employee's 6 month probation period; the probation period begins the first day of employment. Failure to do so will result in termination.

  • Candidates must obtain a temporary CDL license, instruction permit identification card (TIPIC) prior to being interviewed and provide documentation at the time of the interview

  • Must work overtime, shifts, call-outs and holidays

  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

  • Ability to work in excavated areas, and work with heavy equipment like backhoes, front-end loaders, jackhammers, trenchers, light equipment, tapping equipment, boring equipment, etc.

  • Must be able to pass the CAST pre-employment test

  • Must pass the C&M physical test and must be physically capable of performing strenuous physical work

  • Must be able to pass required Operator Qualification (OQ) training and maintain all required Operator Qualifications (OQ) for the C&M Helper position after hire

  • Must have a mechanical aptitude to work with tools and equipment

  • Must be willing to work shifts and have a good attendance and work record

Job Summary

This position will support the Gas Transmission Integrity Management organization and will influence the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution pipeline systems through the proactive use of asset knowledge, threat identification, knowledge of threat interaction, data integration and analytical tools to increase operational efficiency, improve system integrity and minimize safety risk to employees and the communities we operate in.

The Gas Transmission Integrity Management organization is responsible for evaluating the risk and threats to the integrity of the gas transmission system then developing and implementing a strategic integrity management plan for the entirety of the gas transmission pipeline assets. The Integrity engineer is a critical position within the TIMP team to help ensure Dominion Energy maintains safe and reliable pipelines which comply with federal regulations. The Integrity engineer will promote a safety culture throughout all levels of the organization with an emphasis on improving learning from the past and anticipating the future.

This role is the top progression level position in the engineer series. Includes senior to technical expert engineers. It is distinguished from the Engineer II level by being able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area. At higher levels of proficiency within this classification, incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.

The position will be located in Gastonia, NC (Charlotte area)

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Provides engineering support of Integrity Management (IM) plan administration, compliance, implementation and documentation.

  • Provides engineering support of individual IM assessments, remediation activity, data analysis.

  • Provides progress metrics on IM activities.

  • Technology and project development supporting IM.

  • Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.

  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.

  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields

  • Serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities.

  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Provide input in setting objectives and policy, identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts.

  • Provides assistance, advice, and solutions to peers, customers, and co-workers.

  • Identifies and implements better work alternatives and business processes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II

- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 3+ years relevant engineering experience.

Engineer III

- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 5+ years relevant engineering experience.

Relevant Engineering Experience includes: Engineering, Integrity Management, Quality Management, Gas Pipeline Operations, Cathodic Protection/Corrosion Engineering, Pipeline Compliance, Design/Construction, Industrial/Systems Engineering.

- Skills: Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead. Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing). Strong personal computer skills. Proven decision-making skills. Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.

- Abilities: Think analytically and solve complex problems. Interpret codes, regulations and practices. In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.). Equally effective working independently or in a team environment. Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

- Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years directly related experience in natural gas pipeline integrity.

  • 5+ years previous experience in natural gas pipeline integrity, pipeline design, pipeline operation, pipeline repair or pipeline construction experience; or

  • 2+ years previous experience with integrity methods (in line inspection (ILI), pressure testing, or direct assessment methods) and assessment evaluation; or

  • Experience with cathodic protection practices and principles; or

  • Experience with regulatory compliance at Federal, State, or local levels (DOT, PHMSA, etc.).

Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina Wateree Station in Richland County near Eastover, SC has an opening for a Apprentice Lab Analyst.

This position is responsible for:

  • Collecting samples of plant processes that include coal handling, water treatment, condensate, feedwater, wastewater, and permitted landfills.

  • Performing chemical analyses of plant processes and providing direction for control and adjustment of process chemistry.

  • Performing analyses of plant water, wastewater, and chemical waste streams to ensure compliance with the requirements of the plant's environmental permits.

  • Providing guidance to plant personnel in matters of chemistry such as material safety and chemical spill response; maintaining/calibrating in line chemistry analyzers.

Job Summary

This posting is for two locations- Charlottesville and Fishersville. Fishersville candidates: there will be regular travel to Mount Storm Power Station.

This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft. Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds applies.

This is a Local 50 union-represented job with a starting pay rate of $ 22.69 per hour.

Various duties include:

Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts

NERC requirements

Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances

Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations

Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases ie. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB's, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions Include :

Work schedule is 4 X 10 hour days Monday to Thursday from 6a to 430p.

Work outdoors 95% of a normal day

Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates

Must be available for overtime including extended workdays

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The ability to lift up to 75lbs is required

  • The ability to climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or CDL learner's permit.

Job Summary

The successful intern(s) will be working under the direction of a Supervisor/Mentor. An Engineer in Substation and Transmission Line Civil Engineering Standards would be expected to:

  • Design lines and substation structures, to include preparation of steel performance drawings, fabrication drawings.

  • Support roadway design requirements and review of 3rd party designs for access to substations and line right-of-way.

  • Develop specifications and calculations for line design and substation design groups to use when completing detail design of substations.

  • Develop specifications for oil-containment systems and substation buildings with vaults.

  • Support the structural aspect to electrical connections, and forces applied to use of conductors (wire, pipe conductors) using aluminum and stain-less steel hardware.

  • Work closely with project civil engineers and designers to coordinate the design/site customization of structural elements within an overall substation design.

  • Represent global steel fabrication requirements and approved steel suppliers.

  • Lead substation building expansion requirements and new building specification requirements gathering.

  • Develop, support, and help maintain substation technical specifications. Sample specifications include: substation concrete specifications, substation steel specifications, substation fence specifications, substation oil containment specifications and substation welding (aluminum and steel) specifications.

  • Establish an industry presence in substation specific committees and working groups. For example, participate in IEEE Std. 605 (Air-insulated bus design) and ASCE 113 (substation structure design standards) working groups.

  • Support the structural component of engineer-procure-construct (EPC) evolutions within substation projects. For example, projects that relate to the turn-key installation of Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS), Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices, switchgear, fences, walls and helical pier foundation systems.

  • Perform structural reviews and written evaluations of existing foundations and steel structures during emergency equipment replacement evolutions (including foundation assessments for large power transformers, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, etc.,) with an emergency spare.

  • Provide normal and emergency (real-time) support for operation and construction evolutions. For example, travel path assessment for bringing a replacement transformer into an existing substation.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Job Summary

Selected student(s) will gain utility knowledge in the following areas based upon the student's area of interest and business need including but not limited to:

  • Planning and designing electric transmission and distribution systems

  • Preparing detailed drawings

  • Supporting field operations in performing a variety of equipment and systems testing; supporting engineering studies and analysis related to electric, solar, and other projects

  • Monitoring the installation and operation of various utility-scale solar projects

  • Reviewing and supporting project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and providing status reports.

  • Supporting restoration efforts following storms and other power outage events.

2023 spring and summer positions are planned in Columbia, Charleston, Summerville, Aiken and Beaufort.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Must have strong computer knowledge and skills with demonstrated ability to learn and utilize AutoCAD, GIS and Microsoft Office products.

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to work independently and as a team.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.

  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location and have reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to move about freely and perform field work.

  • Must be able to travel and work outside of normal business hours throughout the company service territory.

Education Requirements

Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
