Application Developer, Specialist

Job Summary

The Application Developer, Spec within Gas Technology Services will work with limited supervision to design and develop custom applications to support functions of Southern Company Gas as well as the build and support of Southern Company Gas COTS applications. It is expected that this resource is a subject matter expert with deep technical knowledge of various development tools and technologies. Application Developer, Spec will complete projects which will include standard development using a variety of languages, web-based technologies, cognitive services, integration technologies, and native mobile applications.

Application Development, Spec - Essential Duties Include

• Develop solutions that leverage (when COTS system) rather than customization.

• Create and drive completion of Technical Design documents.

Job Summary

Nicor Gas is seeking a Supervisor for Construction Operations, Main Replacement . You will be overseeing construction of distribution and/or transmission gas utility infrastructure related to customer growth, relocation, and renewal projects. You will also supervise project Inspectors (responsible for construction oversight including safety, quality, and project management) and/or internal construction crews(responsible for constructing gas utility infrastructure) within a functional or regional area.

Please note, this position can be out of Glen Ellyn or Joliet, IL.

As our Supervisor of Construction Operations, a typical day might include

• Providing vision and direction for construction project Inspectors and/or internal construction crews within a functional or regional area of responsibility.

• Drives field decision-making and coordinates with internal and/or external service providers

• Analyzing costs and benefits for alternative construction policies and opportunities to maximize cost efficiencies.

• Managing staff selection, development, and retention across a geographic area.

• Being responsible for enhancing the performance of the construction staff through training, motivation, and performance coaching.

• Driving quality, safety, and operating objectives expectations to deliver results

• Lead dialogue for elevated visibility issue customers, municipalities and other governmental agencies throughout the project as required (such as state DOTs, Counties, etc.)

• Reviews and approves statements of work, work orders, change orders, and invoices in accordance with authorization approval policies

This position is responsible for assisting in managing a Southern Power wind facility. This will be a NERC facility and it will operate and maintain wind turbines, roads, and an O&M building in Newkirk and Renfrow, Oklahoma. This candidate will lead third-party wind contractors, work to establish new operating procedures, and will work closely with the rest of Southern Power to communicate and manage the site operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred

• 5 - 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in wind energy

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applications

• Success in instilling a culture of Safety Excellence and foundations of Human Performance

• Ability to climb turbine towers up to 110 meters in height approximately 5-10 times per week, or as needed

• Understand and comply with the ANSI Fall Protection Standards

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for leading and training of a team of test engineering personnel and will provide safety leadership for switching requests, maintenance work scheduling and growing and executing an asset management program for the statewide network system and reporting directly to the Network Underground Reliability Manager. This position will support maintenance and capital projects to include real time tracking of capital and maintenance costs, resource scheduling, organizational focus on accident prevention and risk mitigation, and delivery industry leading processes to improve work quality.

Job Responsibilities

WORK LOCATION

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and reporting of engineering, procurement, and construction schedules for assigned projects.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• College diploma or university degree in an engineering, technical, or business field or minimum 7 years relevant experience required.

Experience:

• Experience working directly in project controls/project management/construction management required.

• 5 years project controls/project management/construction management experience highly desired.

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment required.

• In depth knowledge of Primavera software required.

Knowledge:

• Above average understanding of project scheduling techniques along with knowledge and understanding of project controls methods, procedures, and scheduling tools.

• Knowledge of construction and engineering productivity/earned value processes.

• Knowledge of project management principles.

Skills:

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Schedule Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain the schedules for assigned projects, per the project controls scheduling standards and guidelines. Monitor adherence to project scope and ensure change management has been integrated into the schedule. Ensure schedule update process is followed and hold vendors / contractors accountable to our scheduling standards.

2. Schedule Reporting: Ensure schedule reporting requirements are met. Work with the project team to identify and develop project-specific reports. Ability to discern schedule issues and address appropriately and timely.

3. Customer Relations: Serves as the scheduler for assigned projects. Work closely with project team and customers to ensure scheduling deliverables meet or exceed expectations. Exhibits ability to work well with project managers, procurement, engineering, construction, and project controls personnel.

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities pertaining to the security of property and personnel at Barry Steam Plant in accordance with Company-wide security policies and guidelines. This includes the direct supervision of Security Officers who provide 24/7 security services at Plant Barry. The supervisor is responsible for all phases of performance management, in addition to scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day activities of security personnel. This position also supervises and/or conducts preliminary investigations of security violations including the necessary documentation and reports. Additionally, this position is responsible for the development, writing, implementation and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and post orders. Relocation may be available.

Job Requirements :

• Minimum of 5 years experience within an Operating Company Security team preferred

• Proven/demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a security related field

• Prior experience scheduling personnel for 24/7 coverage

• Knowledge of state and federal laws and their application to private security

• Ability to use and maintain firearms and pass annual firearms qualifications

• Ability to work well with others, both within and outside the Company

• Ability to complete Emergency Response Training in First Responder field

• Ensure the plant remains in compliance with Alabama Power Company corporate policies and procedures

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you have training in both engineering (or an industry-related science field) and sales. You have five to ten years of experience selling complex solutions in energy, energy management, power distribution, or backup generation markets. Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred. In lieu of an engineering degree, equivalent degree (Physics, Mathematics, etc.) or fulltime work experience with relevant industry sales and technical experience will be considered.

• 5 to 15 years of demonstrated sales success or equivalent experience in negotiation of complex contracts/solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY

Continuous Improvement & Learning (CI&L) supports Operations' business units by advancing four pillars of Continuous Improvement: Learn, Share, Improve, and Act. Support is provided to all business units inside Southern Company Operations and occasionally includes teams under the broader Southern Company umbrella.

This role contributes to CI&L's objectives by defining, planning, and implementing improvement and learning efforts. This may include improving processes, operational and tactical planning, event learning, establishing best practices, and applying learnings for the benefit of the broader organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify and/or evaluate business processes for improvement opportunities.
