Job Summary
The Application Developer, Spec within Gas Technology Services will work with limited supervision to design and develop custom applications to support functions of Southern Company Gas as well as the build and support of Southern Company Gas COTS applications. It is expected that this resource is a subject matter expert with deep technical knowledge of various development tools and technologies. Application Developer, Spec will complete projects which will include standard development using a variety of languages, web-based technologies, cognitive services, integration technologies, and native mobile applications.
Application Development, Spec - Essential Duties Include
Develop solutions that leverage (when COTS system) rather than customization.
Create and drive completion of Technical Design documents.
Collaborate with junior Programmers to plan for coding and overall program development.
Translate specifications to create code that meets performance expectations/coding requirements.
Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance based on specifications, with supervision.
Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software.
Plan and participate in system testing as required.
Develop technology solutions and corresponding documentation to highly complex problems using deep technical expertise and creativity.
Plan and participate in deployment activities to implement designed solutions.
Maintain and follow production support processes focused on identification and mitigation of root cause.
Flex to meet customer demands (production support and project work).
Prioritize work and deliver on project commitments.
Provide on-call support both solving issues independently as well as assisting other personnel
Support and mentor less experienced personnel.
Considerable interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential.
Ensure strategies are aligned with Technology Organization goals and strategies.
Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field
A deep, comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and development principles
Interest in and passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities
Ability to work with business partners and peers of varying levels of technical proficiency
Experience with all size projects, enhancement projects and production support

This position is responsible for assisting in managing a Southern Power wind facility. This will be a NERC facility and it will operate and maintain wind turbines, roads, and an O&M building in Newkirk and Renfrow, Oklahoma. This candidate will lead third-party wind contractors, work to establish new operating procedures, and will work closely with the rest of Southern Power to communicate and manage the site operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred
5 - 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in wind energy
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applications

This position involves performing technical and analytical services essential to the efficient operation of a power generation plant. The primary responsibilities include water treatment and chemical analysis of water, wastewater, and fuels, with the aim of providing chemical protection for steam generating equipment and minimizing outages caused by corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components. Additionally, the position focuses on minimizing efficiency losses and potential replacements of steam generating, condensing, and turbine mechanical components. Key Duties:
Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment to produce demineralized water and service water for various plant applications.
Conduct sampling of water, wastewater, and metal deposits.
Perform analytical testing and monitor and sample plant effluents.
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Manage inventory of bulk chemicals and laboratory consumables.
Oversee the handling and transportation of bulk chemicals and unloading.
Job Experience and Education:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or another scientific field, with a minimum of 25 quarter hours or 15 semester hours in Chemistry required.
Experience and proficiency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, with knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or another relevant field is preferred
Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement related certification is strongly preferred
Experience
Two (2) years' formal or informal process improvement experience is required
Process improvement defined as making processes more effective, efficient, safer, or transparent
Experience leading/participating in projects with cross-functional teams is required
Technical experience related to the energy industry (e.g., generation, power delivery, etc.) or relevant heavy industry (i.e., chemical, pulp/paper, manufacturing, etc.) is required
Diverse project related background is preferred
Experience working within multiple Southern Company business units is a plus
Project and program management experience is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding of both formal and informal processes within Operations
Understanding of Operations business units and the nuances of how work is performed across matrixed organizational lines
Ability to systematically analyze a problem, identify latent causes, and develop sound solutions
Able to communicate with all levels of management in both written and oral formats

Outstanding written and presentation skills

This position will require up to 50% travel per year including some overnight trips
Most travel is pre-planned and within Southern Company's traditional southeast footprint

Sr Analyst , Strategic Billing
Description
The purpose of this position is to conduct the analytical tracking and reporting processes to support Strategic Billing functions which includes Customer Select, and Gas Transportation. This includes gathering, interpreting, and formatting all metrics and providing analytics for internal/external presentations on behalf of Strategic Billing. This position traditionally focuses on reviewing and ensuring the accuracies and effectiveness of daily processes. Conversely, this position generates timely reports, through Client Connect, CC&B, and RBI. The incumbent for this role should have a keen eye for detail, and strong analytical skills. The Customer Select analyst will support successful business practices, and improve document business process and track metrics to ensure compliance.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specify major duties performed by the job
. Liaison for external CSEL suppliers for communication of month end close processes/Critical Day
. Administer analytical tracking and reporting processes of business metrics for internal use and regulatory compliance for Strategic billing functions
. Manage Reports (Consumption Details, Month End Customer Select Count)
. Manage/Monitor CSEL Supplier Inquiries and CSEL end user issues
. Process Refunds for Suppliers
. Partner with internal stakeholders to solve billing inquiries
. Coordinate and oversee team projects, workflow maintenance and development, and training, onboarding & development initiatives
. Develop an in-depth understanding of our software and service environment, including CC&B
. Build strong interdepartmental relationships, team mentoring, execute billing operations work across the organization with a focus on creating a highly collaborative culture of timely and accurate billing
. Manage communication and partner with cross-functional teams including the Technology Organization, Legal, Accounting and Executive Leadership.
