Multiple full-time opportunities are available - We are recruiting experienced individuals for project & construction site roles supporting various construction projects throughout the Southeast

JOB SUMMARY

This position serves to provide oversight and management of major capital projects for the Projects group, within our Technical & Project Solutions (T&PS) organization. This position is responsible for project safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Responsibilities include working closely with various T&PS departments as well as external groups. This role requires the ability to review and if needed, develop work products such as: project scope document, cost estimate, P6 schedules, safety plans, quality plans, and staffing plans.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in order to solve issues and keep the project moving forward (i.e. engineering, operations, craft labor, contractors, outside agencies)

  • Perform Contract Management

  • Utilize computer business tools to monitor and manage schedule and cost reporting

  • The ability to work across various technologies and systems to achieve the client's goals

  • Candidate must be able to adapt to changing work duties, be able to work with limited supervision, and must be able to perform successfully in an individual and team environment

  • The successful candidate must be available for call outs, holidays and weekends and may require some extended work hours

  • Must be able to work in extreme climates and environments (e.g., cold, hot, dusty, humid)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education (preferred):

  • Associates (2-year) or Bachelors (4-year) degree preferred, but not required

  • Preferred disciplines include: Building Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or another related field

  • Project Management Professional or similar accreditation/professional license beneficial

Experience (required):

  • Field oversite of active construction projects and processes

Experience (preferred):

  • Power generation experience

  • Industrial experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of various equipment and technologies applicable to power generation facilities

  • Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making

  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required

  • Knowledge and experience with personal computers and the ability to learn numerous software applications quickly.

  • Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative is crucial for this position

  • Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company

  • Ability to lead diverse teams toward a common goal

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of Southern Company Generation organizations

JOB SUMMARY

Interpret procedures and regulations and be able to make decisions regarding plant access control.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • Must possess and/or obtain a valid Georgia driver's license

  • Experience in the military, law enforcement, corrections, or armed security with a strong background in customer service and external relations preferred

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system is desired

We have an opportunity for a Shift Support Supervisor In Training (a.k.a. SRO Upgrade or Instant SRO) at our Plant Vogtle 1&2 in Waynesboro, GA.

Training is tentatively scheduled to begin June of 2023.

Job Description:

Selected candidates for the Shift Support Supervisor in Training will perform Operations staff functions for plant familiarization to prepare for an upcoming NRC Hot License Class. Candidates must successfully complete plant-provided systems and fundamentals training on reactor operation, heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics, as well as pass initial screening and annual medical requirements for acquiring and maintaining industrial fire brigade duties.

Upon the successful completion of Hot License Class and attaining an NRC Operating License, the SRO candidate will become a Shift Support Supervisor, directing operating shift personnel in the performance of plant duties. This will include standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts, and coordinating and directing the operation of the nuclear power plant's systems. Shift work, continuous training with periodic examinations, respirator qualification, and maintaining qualification as a member of the plant Fire Brigade are all requirements of this position.

Job Requirements :

Candidates will be required to meet at least one of the following requirements:

-1 or more years as an active reactor operator at a Westinghouse PWR facility; OR

-1.5 or more years as an active reactor operator at a non-comparable commercial power reactor; OR

-2 or more years in a position equivalent to a reactor operator position at a military reactor. Equivalent positions include:

Propulsion Plant Watch Officer

Engineering Watch Supervisor

Reactor Operator

Engineering Officers of the Watch

Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor

-High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

(Power Plant Staff: A Manager, Supervisor, or Staff Engineer responsible for the coordination and implementation of plant equipment controls, integrated operations procedures, operations, maintenance, radiological support, modifications,

maintenance planning, work control, chemistry, or accredited training at the current or a comparable (i.e., BWR/PWR) facility. Experience at a non-comparable facility may be credited on a 1.5 : 1.0 basis.)

(Qualified Non-licensed Operator: Qualified for all power block and safety systems operation at the current or a comparable (i.e., BWR/PWR) facility.)

-Preferred candidates will have six or more years experience in nuclear plant operations (e.g., Nuclear Navy or commercial power plant), including holding a previous NRC RO or SRO license or military equivalent.

-Demonstrated leadership, preferably at the supervisor level or above, along with excellent oral and written skills.

Other Requirements:

-The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access and will participate in the company's Fitness-for-Duty Program.

-Candidates may also be required to maintain qualifications and on-call responsibilities in support of the plant Emergency Response Organization.

-In order to obtain unescorted access, the selected candidate will be required to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).

-Information from this form will be used to conduct an extensive background investigation as required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures compliance with programs by interfacing with plant personnel, contractors, and outside agencies

  • Investigates non-compliance incidents, ensures timely and complete notification of appropriate internal and external resources, and directs the work activities of contractors and employees in emergency situations

  • Coordinates projects which may require interfacing with employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies

  • Develops and tracks short and long-term budgets (Capital and O&M) to ensure that necessary funds are available to meet current and future risk area needs

  • Works closely with Corporate Health and Safety and support organizations to ensure proper implementation of industrial hygiene practices

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science or related field or equivalent experience - Preferred

  • Support the GPC Telematics Program, including system administration and user support of the electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report application.

  • Monitor data and generate reports for leadership utilizing Hexagon EAM and Geotab, including areas such as asset fault code monitoring, campaign completions, pre-in-service work performance, and preventive maintenance program compliance.

  • Champion the continued improvement and adoption of Hexagon EAM; recommend, evaluate, and document new or updated processes within EAM; train others in EAM processes as needed.

  • Perform regular audits of asset and maintenance-related information, such as preventive maintenance checklists, associated reference documents, maintenance patterns, and task plan/standard work order estimated times.

  • Subject Matter Expert and primary support contact for Fleet's mobile devices (iPads).

Manager, Sustainability Solutions

Description

Serves as the liaison for Southern Company GAS in national and state industry efforts to develop sustainable solutions for natural gas for residential, commerical and industrial users. This position produces and implements strategies which are tailored to market conditions within national and local (each LDC) level. This position will partner with the LDCs and other External Affairs functions to create and disseminate a narrative and work product maximizing external effectiveness around these programs while also stressing the economic, resiliency, and comfort benefits of natural gas. This position will work within all LDC's in each state to provide input on sustainable solutions and help tailor those solutions to aid each LDC to achieve its customer growth targets.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to codes and standards efforts and ensure that regulatory efforts align with risks and opportunities that come with local, state, and federal building codes, energy standards, pipeline integrity standards, appliance standards etc. The focus of these efforts will be to support natural gas and decarbonized fuels as part of a portfolio of sustainability solutions and provide customers access to all fuel options.

  • Support efforts to review and analyze the implications of policies at the federal, state and local level in terms of impact to the natural gas industry and/or GAS, and efforts within the company to develop policy and regulatory strategies and proposals to advance GAS sustainability efforts

  • Support efforts to develop fuel neutral stretch codes and develop proactive internal efforts and policies to impliment them, working with each LDC to ensure gas remains a strong fuel option in each of their states. Provide technology and customer strategy expertise and direction to legislative and regulatory departments to ensure customers access to gas is not disadvantaged by any state or federal legislation.

  • Responsible for advising management of the preferred regulatory path required for implementing solutions in each jurisdiction for rate recovery and lowest customer costs.

  • Work with R&D and other external partners to formulate a long-term strategy, and begin implementing policy, operational guidelines, and best practices that will ease the transition to any fuel mix solutions.

  • Lead efforts within R&D and external industry partners to help address technology and business model disruptions that result from policy driven electrification or decarbonization initiatives

  • Engage industry leaders and organizations to further natural gas sustainability; coordinate industry initiatives with other companies related to federal, state, and community engagement where appropriate

  • Provide direction internally and serve as a subject matter expert in regulatory filings for items related to these sustainabilty solutions. This position will work in coordination with others in the External Affairs departments to engage various experts both externally and internally to present solutions that allow customers to use natural gas as their preferred choice.(CNG, RNG, Hydrogen, etc.)

  • Support GAS climate and emission initiatives including emission reporting and reduction strategies.

  • Provide utilities assistance with state and local development authorities on paths forward pertaining to natural gas infrastructure installations in areas of interest to development authorities. Support local utilities in development and communication of plans to this end.

  • Track and support research and data analysis on the benefits of natural gas, costs of policy driven electrification, and other policy issues like carbon tax to determine how these changes affect customers access to natural gas as a sustainable energy solution

  • Support Southern Company-wide sustainability and innovation efforts - corporate/employee environmental footprint and engagement.

  • Direct and work with Southern Company services on national account sustainability solutions in coordination with local LDC sales and marketing functions to meet these customers sustainability goals and make sure natural gas can be part of the total solution. Support each LDC for its special needs for customer sustainabiilty solutions.

  • Engage actively with SCG innovation Council and Low to No Carbon Subcommittee

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance or related discipline. Master's Degree, JD or MBA is preferred.

  • Strong relational, communication, and technical presentation skills.

  • 10 years experience in the natural utility industry with strong working knowledge of mechanical and HVAC natural gas solutions Understanding of legislative, and regulatory environments

  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local environmental regulations

  • May be required to pass security clearance investigation.

  • Ability to travel required (15-40%).

Description

The Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) Administrator will serve as the primary point of contact for a specific business unit employing CEP as both an asset and channel to exceed KPI goals. The CEP Administrator will function in many ways as a product manager and product marketing manager to emphasize the value of the solution, grow adoption and influence the feature set and UX for optimum business and customer satisfaction outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the business unit subject matter expert (SME), business owner and champion for the platform implementation and future use cases to include:

  • Master the platform features, functionality and object model

  • Implement and maintain the platform as central to an integrated B2B ecosystem by working to leverage as many tools and technologies as we have access to (Adobe suite, Eloqua email, Oracle SalesCloud, etc.)

  • Work with program owners and stakeholders to leverage the system as part of a multi-channel approach to achieving adoption and lead gen goals.

  • Oversee user permissions and privacy compliance

  • Maintain data integrity in collaboration with interdependent system owners and stakeholders

  • Provide Internal and external training and orientation on the platform as the primary internal evangelist

  • Be the primary program manager for regular tasks and strategic improvements for the assigned operating company and its customers

  • Craft and support end-to-end customer journeys and lead lifecycle workflows around CEP in a multichannel context

  • Understand foundational aspects of web analytics tool implementation (tags, sCode, plug-ins, server call types, cookies, variables, link tracking, JavaScript, HTML & packet sniffing)

  • Be the primary point of contact for stakeholders and customers to maintain accurate account hierarchical relationships, prospect/customer statuses and buying group/committee roles (buyer personas).

  • Be the initial and primary contact with the platform vendor with Tier II issues, including analyzing, troubleshooting and tracking discrepancies/issues until resolution

  • Be the initial and primary contact customers and internal stakeholders for support issues, including analyzing, troubleshooting and tracking discrepancies, and coordinating and engaging with internal resources through issue resolution.

  • Deliberately collect insights and feedback as a natural outcome of being the primary point of contact with customers, to inform stakeholder engagement for training and feature road-mapping.

  • Report on performance with target accounts and plan for future year-over-year analysis, goal setting and forecasting

  • Other duties as assigned to support this new and sure-to-evolve tool

Other duties:

  • Manage messaging and calls-to-action using data-driven insights to provide personalized offers and experiences

  • Assess customer feedback (on-site surveys, etc.), share recommendations and address with content, site and data improvements as needed

  • Report on overall data integrity and program performance with target accounts

Location

  • The successful candidate would be free to live near all cities within Southern Company southeastern footprint. This includes the states of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.

Senior Radiation Protection (RP) Technician - Plant Vogtle

REQUIREMENTS:

This posting is for Senior Radiation Protection Technician level personnel for an initial Radiation Protection Department that require accomplished RP experience, skills and must meet at a minimum 3.1-2014 ANSI requirements . Two years of Radiation Protection related work experience (4000 hours over a minimum of 80 weeks, 1 year of nuclear power plant experience) is required. In addition, they must be able to pass the EEI Technical Occupations Selection System Test.

Education requirements:

  • A Technical degree in a physical science (i.e. Biology, Micro-Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Math or physical Science), Navy ELT, or equivalent training as determined by management.

Summary of Position Duties:

As a Radiation Protection Technician at Plant Vogtle, near Augusta, GA you will help ensure the occupational radiation safety of plant workers and provide technical support to the Radiation Protection Department through the following:

  • Monitoring Radiation Controlled Areas on a regularly scheduled basis using fixed and portable survey instruments to evaluate contamination and airborne radiation levels and to assist in establishing dose rates for job coverage

  • Storing, issuing, and testing of respiratory protection equipment

  • Assisting in or becoming lead for repair and calibration of fixed and portable radiation survey instruments when required

  • Providing Radiation Protection coverage to plant operations and maintenance personnel to ensure safe radiological practices

  • Providing radiological evaluation of area decontamination activity

  • Preparing Radiation Work Permits

  • Providing support to Vogtle Plant Dosimetry Program, as needed

  • Providing support for radioactive waste shipments as required.

  • Implementing the process control program as required.

  • Reviewing work packages, projecting exposure for job, evaluating need for shielding, and briefing with technicians and workers on work activities

  • Performing ALARA job reviews and maintaining a job history file for ALARA packages

  • Tracking ALARA suggestions, reviewing and taking necessary action

  • Pursuing methods for improving the ALARA program's performance and efficiency and to increase the awareness of all plant groups of this Program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in a technical radiation protection program is preferred.

  • Must perform daily with a safety-focused attitude and commitment to zero accidents or injuries.

  • Ability to enforce Radiation Protection requirements and stop work when compliance is jeopardized.

  • Basic knowledge of radiation fundamentals is preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer.

The purpose of this job is to serve as the Accounting Process Team Program Support, assisting the Program Manager with the oversight and management of the Accounting Process Team activities. In addition, this position will provide support for the Enterprise Foundations project, business continuity planning, information management functional support and departmental general administration.

Functional Expertise:

  • Provides expertise, oversight, and analysis in the development of standards within Southern Company Gas

JOB SUMMARY

This position will perform protective relay calculations and coordination studies for Southern Company's transmission and distribution systems. This engineer will also perform engineering design and technical services for the specification, application and analysis of protective relaying, control and automation systems. The incumbent will provide technical expertise and support for design, construction, planning, marketing and customers regarding protection and control of Southern Company's transmission and distribution facilities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design protective relay & control schemes and develop protective relay settings to protect and monitor the performance of electric power system facilities (transmission lines, distribution lines, and substation equipment).

  • Provide power system and protection engineering consulting services and technical assistance to other functional areas.

  • Investigate root cause of abnormal power system operations.

  • Review transmission system operations with emphasis on microprocessor relay event analysis.

  • Some travel for site visits, meetings, conferences, and training may be required.

JOB SUMMARY

This position maintains in-depth knowledge of current environmental regulations and laws as they apply to the plant and uses that knowledge to ensure compliance with permits and regulations. The Compliance Specialist interfaces with corporate and regulatory agencies and ensures notification of the appropriate agency in cases of non-compliance. Recognizes environmental compliance issues that require attention and proactively addresses them. Champions the plant's compliance and environmental initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred

  • Experience in interpreting environmental laws and regulations, collecting and analyzing data. Compliance Specialist will typically work in one or more of the following areas.

  • Air Programs (Title V, MATS, TIER II, TRI, RICE/MACT, CEMS/PEMS) as they apply to a fossil generation plant

  • Water Programs (NPDES, Drinking, Surface Water Withdrawal, Groundwater, Stormwater, Dredging, SPCC, FRP)

  • Waste Programs (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal, Used Oil)

  • Land Programs (Coal Combustion Residual-CCR)

  • Industrial Hygiene

  • Other Programs (Process Safety and Risk Management Plans, NERC ERO/CIP)

  • Knowledge of power plant operations (environmental controls, SCR) is preferred

  • Must have good problem solving/analytical skills and be able to troubleshoot complex systems

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Previous experience creating and delivering presentations

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of Self-Assessment processes (Maximo, Enablon) preferred

  • Experience with other company specific software such as Maximo, Oracle, Primavera, Browz and Bridge is preferred

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with permits by gathering data, performing necessary environmental sampling, monitoring equipment and interfacing with plant personnel and contractors

  • Document and maintain records to support environmental and regulatory compliance

  • Investigate non-compliance incidents, ensure notification of appropriate regulatory agencies, and direct the work activities of contractors and employees in emergency situations

  • Coordinate and manage environmental projects, including interfacing with employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies

  • Understand budgets and assist the team in ensuring environmental consumables, testing, and permitting projects are funded

  • Interface with corporate environmental affairs and regulatory agencies

  • Prepare and submit all routine regulatory reporting for compliance programs

  • Train plant personnel on compliance related issues and conduct annual compliance training

  • Assist in writing plant environmental compliance procedures, action plans and guidelines

  • Ensure assigned plant specific compliance plans are reviewed and current

  • Coordinate environmental stewardship events

  • Perform self-assessments on plant environmental programs developing strategies and procedures to maintain compliance

Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified individuals interested in becoming a Systems Operator in Training at Hatch Nuclear Power Plant. Be part of a talented and progressive team that works well together. You must be committed to the success of your peers as well as your own.

In this position, the candidate will initially enter an approximate 12 month training program to become a Systems Operator. Once successfully trained the Systems Operator is responsible for operating various parts of the nuclear plant to ensure safe, efficient operation of facility.

Systems ors in Training will attend the in-house training with no collateral duties.

Operators are responsible for the monitoring of equipment, performance of valve and system operation evolutions, and performance of unit evolution and cleanliness of equipment in assigned areas of the plant. They are expected to maintain satisfactory performance in system operator requalification program and progress towards qualification as plant operator. The candidate must consistently meet and demonstrate the expectations of Southern Company Values and Principles of Nuclear operation.
