As a Section Manager at Caterpillar, you will supervise and provide leadership to warehouse associates and team leads in the Inbound are of the warehouse. In this area warehouse associates are receiving, packing, and storing parts. We are looking for individuals with a desire to help drive business improvements, results and develop their career in Caterpillar. A willingness to relocate to maximize career opportunities would be beneficial in this position as well as an openness to explore career development paths in other functional areas such as manufacturing engineering, supply chain, transportation etc. in the future.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Monitors and improves safety on the shop floor, eliminating any unsafe operations and ensuring a safe and clean production environment
Determines priorities and schedules the sequence of jobs
Determines overtime needs, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary
Ensures production meets quality / cost standards
Ensures necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities
Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
Implements various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.
Evaluates, assesses, and identifies training needs of the workforce
Ensures training and effective utilization of work force
Performs the following LEAN related duties:
Accountability for value stream mapping
Resource allocation to meet requirements
Trains and models the LEAN Guiding Principles
Deploys process improvement dialogues
Deploys Root Cause Corrective Action on issues that arise and drive continuous improvement
Reports section status and monitors and audits related metrics
Leads efforts to develop and deploy standard work for each work area
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited university/college earning a minimum Bachelor's degree in one of the following degree programs: Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or Engineering/Business degree (preferably with an emphasis in Supply Chain)
Cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding)
Graduation date between December 2021 to December 2022

As a Pricing Specialist (internally known as Commercial Consultant) , you will partner with Caterpillar product development and financial teams to guide pricing decisions to align with overall product and company goals. A typical day might include:

Responsible and accountable for the development, and/or communication and implementation of a regional, and worldwide sourcing strategy.

Provide leadership for strategic sourcing -qualified supply network, business continuity, supplier risk management - capacity & financial, logistics, contract management, supplier commercial negotiations, cost/spend management - TCA assurance, supplier on boarding/off boarding, lead/response time optimization and resource management decisions.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and purchasing new product introduction activities within Purchasing. Your role will be critical to establishing validation excellence in the ePowertrain systems domain, delivering world-class solutions, and mentoring and coaching team members. This position is highly visible to the RI, CI, and E&T business units, and correspondingly, has high impact on their perception of the Electrification & Advanced Power Source (E&APS) division as a partner in product development and safety.
Job Duties
Development ePowertrain system models using 1D software tools such as Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, Amesim, Twin Builder, Optislang, HEEDs, GT Suite and/or Dynasty (Caterpillar proprietary tool)
Leverage virtual product development for electrified powertrain optimization and performance verification.
Develop common, leveraged models and features for various electromechanical components and systems.

This position is part of the validation team for Command for Hauling which has over 550 autonomous trucks in the field that safely move over 1 billion tons of material every 9 months. Since production in 2013 the trucks have travelled over 200 million km, twice that of any automotive manufacturer. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop test plans and perform and automate testing on a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test bench. The validation is focused on the on-board autonomy systems for Large Mining Trucks and Water Trucks.

The position uses technical automation knowledge that often must be combined with application/software development skills to develop high quality automation software.

Both new application development and modifications to existing systems will be done, so a good systems focus and the ability to learn how subsystems interact is important.

Job Duties
Development ePowertrain system models using 1D software tools such as Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, Amesim, Twin Builder, Optislang, HEEDs, GT Suite and/or Dynasty (Caterpillar proprietary tool)
Leverage virtual product development for electrified powertrain optimization and performance verification.
Develop common, leveraged models and features for various electromechanical components and systems.
Work with suppliers, labs, and machine data to develop accurate component models.
Correlate system models and validate modeling tool processes.
Coordinate analysis and model development to align with NTI and NPI project timelines.
Collaborate with process partners and product groups to deliver high quality processes & results.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Computer, or Agricultural Engineering with 10+ years engineering work experience.
5+ years of experience developing, transmission, powertrain, or electromechanical modeling.
5+ years' experience in a full-time simulation engineer role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong technical leadership skills and communication.
Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
Ability to communicate with customers positively and effectively (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

Job Summary:
This position is for an Advanced Power Products (APP) Compliance Team Leader. The APP product line incorporates on and off board chargers, stationary and mobile batteries, energy storage systems, bi-directional industrial inverters, hydrogen fuel cells, and photovoltaic solar panels. This is a growing and emerging area where understanding of compliance is imperative to secure Caterpillar's future in this space. Compliance needs include Risk Assessments, Safety Reviews, Functional Safety, and general compliance support. This can also include review and interpretation of related certification and standards to bring Voice of Regulation to our New Product Introductions.
The team leader role accounts for up to 50% of this assignment. The remainder will be as an individual contributor, bringing technical expertise to the compliance space for APP as well as Caterpillar. This team leader must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience new business knowledge and skill. Program/project management and strong organizational skills are critical.
Interpersonal, leadership, and strong communication skills are required. Significant challenges of this position are working with people: enhancing the team's creativity; facilitating the team's cooperation; clearly communicating the requirements and tasks, while gaining input from the team on refinement of same; translating both verbal and non-verbal information from the customer, management, and team members. The Project Team Leaders is the spokesperson for the team in meetings with multiple levels of management and with the customer. Team leader must develop good networks to enable them to obtain resources and cooperation needed and remove roadblocks so that they can insure the success of their team. Team Leader may be called upon to give input to performance reviews for team members. The Project Team Leader must be at the Fully Skilled level in the role-based competencies of Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision Quality, and Negotiating.
The incumbent would set strategy at the project level. The project would solve problems for one or more technology, component, product, or process.
Project scope will vary from a moderate technical focus to a broader, multi-systems focus, and will require incumbent to broaden business understanding. Projects will have a moderately broad technical scope. Understanding and defining benefits of project or program to the customer is crucial. Previous team leadership experience is necessary.

This role will be a key business partner and leader to the engine components organization is in the Large Power Systems Division and consists of our Cast Metals organization facilities in Mapleton, IL and Hodges, SC, and the Pontiac, IL facility.
In addition, this role and his/her team will support the product development of fuel systems, aftertreatment, cooling systems, turbocharger & air systems, as well as Global product support & services, core packaging products, and custom engineering / design to order products.
As the Senior Director, Finance for the Engine Components organization, you will have the opportunity to develop essential business information and analysis as well as provide counsel to senior management for all financial planning & analysis, forecasting, legal entity, product costing, decision support, manufacturing footprint & product sourcing strategies.
This role must work across highly diverse and global teams to deliver insights to drive the business forward. This position has the opportunity to collaborate with senior level management on the business strategy and future direction of the facilities. This position will have direct line reporting to the Large Power Systems Division CFO and dotted line reporting to the vice-president and general manager of engine components and the large power systems Vice-President and General Manager of systems products & services.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Managing monthly financial planning & analysis for the engine components organization
- Leading the development of the engine components organization financial forecasts
- Providing leadership and guidance for product cost reporting & analysis; operational cost reporting & analysis; capital purchases and investment analysis including sourcing decisions
