Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an experienced Network Analyst for implementation, maintenance, and operational support of large enterprise networks.

Job Responsibilities

This is an experienced level network position providing detailed support for Dominion's internal telecommunications long haul single mode fiber infrastructure.

Tasks will include completing engineering calculations, analysis, research, design, installation instructions, documentation, procurement, project management, and installation oversight (as needed).

Work will be completed with the oversight of the group lead or other assigned group members.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

3 + years of directly related work experience.

  • Detailed knowledge of telecommunication engineering concepts associated with the design and installation of single mode fiber systems, Telecommunication Facilities, and DC power systems (-48VDC).

  • Effective computer skills including AutoCad, Microsoft Office Products Visio, Google Earth, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Project management/coordination experience implementation of complex telecommunications projects utilizing single mode fiber optic infrastructure.

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with Dominion Energy engineering teams and vendors.

  • Knowledge of fiber network infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of SONET and MPLS transport networks.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

This job series is to be used in the System Operations Center (SOC). The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective education programs for utility company employees. This role involves creating instructional materials that support the certification and technical education needs of the system operations organization.

Duties include consulting with subject experts to determine the efficiency of course designs, transferring courses into efficient formats and creating course manuals for professionals to use .

  • Design and Development: Create and design instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led education, webinars, job aids, videos, and other educational resources tailored to the needs of utility employees.

  • Needs Analysis: Conduct needs assessments by collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs), managers, and other stakeholders to identify skill gaps and education requirements.

  • Curriculum Development : Develop comprehensive programs that cover various aspects of utility operations, including technical procedures, regulatory compliance and equipment handling .

  • Instructional Materials : Utilize multimedia tools and software to produce high-quality instructional content that is engaging, interactive, and aligned with adult learning principles.

Job Summary

A Power Plant CT Operator-Apprentice position is available with the Southern Gas Turbine generation department, reporting to Hagood Generating Station located in Charleston, South Carolina. The Southern Gas Turbine Generating group consists of three simple cycle gas turbine generators with a combined total generation of 140 megawatts, as well as a 50 megawatt Combustion Turbine that is currently under construction located at Bushy Park in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

  • This position is responsible for troubleshooting electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, switchgear, exciter, and mechanical problems related to simple cycle combustion turbine-generator units

  • Performs I&C and mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and systems

  • Operates all plant equipment

  • Performs other manual or administrative work as assigned.

  • 2-4 years' work experience with a High School Diploma or GED is required

  • Education and/or experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance with an emphasis on electrical.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and digital control system problems related to combustion turbines and generators

  • Experience operating, inspecting, and maintaining turbines, motors, pumps, fans, compressors, and valves in an industrial environment

  • Starting pay commensurate with qualifications and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent is preferred.

  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience

  • Experience performing duties associated with mechanical maintenance, operations, and electrical troubleshooting

  • Strong instrumentation and controls experience which would include experience with digital controls systems

  • The ability to change settings, perform minor programming changes, system backups, and have a good understanding of function block and ladder logic

  • A working knowledge of computer operations to include Microsoft applications

  • Applicants must have the ability to work well independently and as part of a small work team with limited supervision

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.

Preferred - Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.

Working Conditions

  • This is a dynamic position that requires applicants to be in good physical condition.

  • Applicants must be able to work standing for prolonged periods, work outside in inclement weather, climb structures, work in confined spaces; perform heavy lifting, and wear a respirator and maintain annual respirator qualifications.

  • Additional requirements include being available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to operate the units and support outages as well as emergency and upset conditions as they occur. This position is subject to callouts and response within an hour.

Job Summary

Measurement Engineering is responsible for the design and fabrication of all natural gas transmission and distribution measurement and regulator facilities and development of associated measurement procedures and standards.

This Measurement Engineering position is based in the Company's NC Headquarters located in Gastonia, North Carolina.

This position is responsible for:

- Mechanical design of all pipeline facilities containing natural gas meters, regulators, and relief valves including residential, commercial, and industrial meters, distribution stations, transmission stations, and other fabricated piping components and facilities.

- Creation of fabrication grade drawings and cost estimates in partnership with internal drafting support, peer engineers and customer facing sales representatives.

- Evaluation, selection and specification of materials to be used in designs as well as evaluation of material failures.

- Providing support and training to project engineers and field operation employees for proper application of Meter and Regulator Standards, start-up and troubleshooting of new and existing stations, facilities, and equipment.

- Maintain and develop documents for design, procedures, standards, and installation guidance for metering and regulating and other related equipment and facilities.

Candidates will be evaluated based on education, training, and experience in accordance with the matrix of qualifications for each position level as listed below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Candidates will be considered for employment based upon the following criteria which is specific to the Gas Strategic Business Unit:

o Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of relevant engineering experience

o Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience

o Engineer III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience and holds or previously held a valid US Professional Engineer License

- Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a competent and professional manner.

- Project management experience in the design and construction of pipeline facilities (or other equivalent engineering/construction management or coordination experience).

- Relevant technical and analytical skills necessary to successfully design and construct pipeline facilities.

- Ability to build strong business relationships and collaborate effectively with a variety of employees.

- Proficient computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new computer software/systems.

- Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team.

- Willingness to travel to work at other Company locations (travel expenses reimbursed).

- A strong desire for continued knowledge and skills development and a willingness to accept future roles of increased responsibility.

- Ability to adhere to safety and environmental policies/procedures.

- Work may be required outside of normal business hours.

Required Engineering Criteria:

- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) within North Carolina, OR , the ability to obtain one of these designations within six months.

- Natural gas utility engineering and/or operations experience.

- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (including but not limited to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49 Part 192, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations, and North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) regulations.

- Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Flow Analysis Software, and Synergi Software.

- Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required.

Mechanical or Civil Engineering degrees are preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Job Summary

Measurement Engineering is responsible for the design and fabrication of all natural gas transmission and distribution measurement and regulator facilities and development of associated measurement procedures and standards.

This Measurement Engineering position is based in the Company's NC Headquarters located in Gastonia, North Carolina.

This position is responsible for:

- Mechanical design of all pipeline facilities containing natural gas meters, regulators, and relief valves including residential, commercial, and industrial meters, distribution stations, transmission stations, and other fabricated piping components and facilities.

- Creation of fabrication grade drawings and cost estimates in partnership with internal drafting support, peer engineers and customer facing sales representatives.

- Evaluation, selection and specification of materials to be used in designs as well as evaluation of material failures.

- Providing support and training to project engineers and field operation employees for proper application of Meter and Regulator Standards, start-up and troubleshooting of new and existing stations, facilities, and equipment.

- Maintain and develop documents for design, procedures, standards, and installation guidance for metering and regulating and other related equipment and facilities.

Candidates will be evaluated based on education, training, and experience in accordance with the matrix of qualifications for each position level as listed below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Candidates will be considered for employment based upon the following criteria which is specific to the Gas Strategic Business Unit:

o Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of relevant engineering experience

o Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience

o Engineer III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience and holds or previously held a valid US Professional Engineer License

- Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a competent and professional manner.

- Project management experience in the design and construction of pipeline facilities (or other equivalent engineering/construction management or coordination experience).

- Relevant technical and analytical skills necessary to successfully design and construct pipeline facilities.

- Ability to build strong business relationships and collaborate effectively with a variety of employees.

- Proficient computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new computer software/systems.

- Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team.

- Willingness to travel to work at other Company locations (travel expenses reimbursed).

- A strong desire for continued knowledge and skills development and a willingness to accept future roles of increased responsibility.

- Ability to adhere to safety and environmental policies/procedures.

Required Engineering Criteria:

- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) within North Carolina, OR , the ability to obtain one of these designations within six months.

- Natural gas utility engineering and/or operations experience.

- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (including but not limited to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49 Part 192, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations, and North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) regulations.

- Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Flow Analysis Software, and Synergi Software.

- Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required.

Job Summary

- Observing and directing all shifts to perform their tasks consistent with established operating and regulatory standards, including industry best practices,

- Evaluating operator/supervisor responses to line lockouts and system events to determine areas for improvement, through training documentation, programs, and simulation,

- Providing training material to the training department or serving as a training/compliance subject matter expert in areas where weaknesses are observed or new applications or requirements exist, and creating scenarios in the Dynamic Test Simulator (DTS) for operator and supervisor training,

- Interfacing with affected parties as the representative of the SOC for any training, compliance, regulatory (PJM, SERC, NERC), and industry best practice (NATF, EEI, EPRI) issues and activities related to electric transmission operations,

- Acting in a back-up capacity for other Operations Consultants when necessary,

Job Summary

Dominion's Power Generation Business Unit seeks an Engineering Technical Specialist with Welding experience & knowledge, -R- Stamp program, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, and B31.1 Power Piping code experience, A field support background, with Boilers, HRSGs, piping and associated power station equipment is strongly desired.

This position will be located at Dominion's Thomas Farrell Building in Richmond, VA.

The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements for the non-nuclear Generation fleet and its auxiliaries.

Will provide the following corporate support in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements to Dominion's Power Generation (non-nuclear) fleet:

  1. R-Stamp Program - Oversee and lead the corporate R-Stamp Program, overseeing welder performance testing, monitoring welder continuity maintenance, overseeing, and leading R- Stamp Certificate of Authorization renewals, audit individual field/station compliance with QC manual requirements, address any non-compliances, assist stations with the development of repair methods and testing requirements as needed for repairs.

  2. Welding Engineering Technical Suppor t - Provide welding technical support for weld assessments, design, quality assurance, and repair procedures, including stress relieving operations, in conjunction with Dominion's Corporate Welding Manual and corporate -R- Stamp program for both ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Power Piping Code equipment. Lead the review of contractor welding programs to assess overall qualifications and administrative control of their QC program requirements. Assess welding issues as they arise in the field and during projects. Experience with Creep Strength Enhanced Ferritic Steels, especially Grade 91 is strongly desired.

  3. Boiler and HRSG Root Cause Analysis - Lead or support root cause assessments to provide recommendations to correct/mitigate repetitive events, including cost effective maintenance and operational procedures to maintain unit capacity and efficiency. Experience with boiler, HRSG, and piping failure modes and analysis strongly desired

  4. Planned and Forced Outage Support - Provide boiler, HRSG, and welding assessment and repair recommendations for more complex maintenance events.

  5. Boiler and HRSG Inspections - Perform and/or coordinate inspections to assess and recommend cost effective short-term repair and long-term preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement strategies, requiring good equipment and system troubleshooting aptitudes;

  6. Engineering Technical Support - Includes technical studies, field assessments with station personnel, work scopes and specification development, cost estimates, construction support, vendor and QC surveillance, and coordination with maintenance or contractors for repair execution

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Knowledge Technical Qualifications:

  • 5-6 years of engineering technical support experience in the maintenance and operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler and HRSG steam generators.

  • Minimum 2 years heavily supporting an NBIC R-Stamp Program.

  • Must have extensive experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel & Power Piping Codes (Specifically Section I and B31.1), National Board Inspection Codes (NBIC), Boiler R Stamp codes and requirements,

  • Must be familiar with Boiler and HRSG component design, boiler tube & pipe weld repair and a working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and welding processes.

  • Demonstrated skills in welding & material sciences, non-destructive examination (NDE) processes, and basic boiler component design.

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred

Non-Technical Skills and Requirements:

  • Work both independently and in a team environment;

  • Effective written & verbal skills that foster positive interpersonal communication;

Job Summary

Dominion's Power Generation Business Unit seeks an Engineering Technical Consultant with Welding experience & knowledge, -R- Stamp program, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, and B31.1 Power Piping code experience, A field support background, with Boilers, HRSGs, piping and associated power station equipment is strongly desired.

This position will be located at Dominion's Thomas Farrell Building in Richmond, VA.

The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements for the non-nuclear Generation fleet and its auxiliaries.

Will provide the following corporate support in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements to Dominion's Power Generation (non-nuclear) fleet:

  • R-Stamp Program - Oversee and lead the corporate R-Stamp Program, overseeing welder performance testing, monitoring welder continuity maintenance, overseeing, and leading R- Stamp Certificate of Authorization renewals, audit individual field/station compliance with QC manual requirements, address any non-compliances, assist stations with the development of repair methods and testing requirements as needed for repairs.

  • Welding Engineering Technical Support - Provide welding technical support for weld assessments, design, quality assurance, and repair procedures, including stress relieving operations, in conjunction with Dominion's Corporate Welding Manual and corporate -R- Stamp program for both ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Power Piping Code equipment. Lead the review of contractor welding programs to assess overall qualifications and administrative control of their QC program requirements. Assess welding issues as they arise in the field and during projects. Experience with Creep Strength Enhanced Ferritic Steels, especially Grade 91 is strongly desired.

  • Boiler and HRSG Root Cause Analysis - Lead or support root cause assessments to provide recommendations to correct/mitigate repetitive events, including cost effective maintenance and operational procedures to maintain unit capacity and efficiency. Experience with boiler, HRSG, and piping failure modes and analysis strongly desired

  • Planned and Forced Outage Support - Provide boiler, HRSG, and welding assessment and repair recommendations for more complex maintenance events.

  • Boiler and HRSG Inspections - Perform and/or coordinate inspections to assess and recommend cost effective short-term repair and long-term preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement strategies, requiring good equipment and system troubleshooting aptitudes;

  • Engineering Technical Support - Includes technical studies, field assessments with station personnel, work scopes and specification development, cost estimates, construction support, vendor and QC surveillance, and coordination with maintenance or contractors for repair execution.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Knowledge Technical Qualifications:

  • 7-8 years of engineering technical support experience in the maintenance and operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler and HRSG steam generators.

  • Minimum 2 years running an NBIC R-Stamp Program.

  • Must have extensive experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel & Power Piping Codes (Specifically Section I and B31.1), National Board Inspection Codes (NBIC), Boiler R Stamp codes and requirements,

  • Must be familiar with Boiler and HRSG component design, boiler tube & pipe weld repair and a working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and welding processes.

  • Demonstrated skills in welding & material sciences, non-destructive examination (NDE) processes, and basic boiler component design.

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required

Non-Technical Skills and Requirements:

Work both independently and in a team environment;

Effective written & verbal skills that foster positive interpersonal communication;

Strong leadership skills;

Computer Skills - Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline;

Job Summary

- manually digs around various utilities

- participates in the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks

- performs location of natural gas lines and facilities

- completes pipe maintenance activities

- installs test charts

- sets up common Department of Transportation approved work sites

- Operator Qualifications involve written guidelines and requirements natural gas employees must follow to ensure the safe and responsible operation of natural gas pipelines. Required, annual Operator Qualification testing involves both written and hands-on components to ensure those who perform covered, safety-sensitive tasks on the natural gas system are trained, knowledgeable, and qualified.

This position reports to the Company's Hendersonville Operations Center in Mills River, North Carolina.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Gas Trainee (0 - 6 months experience)

Gas Operations & Maintenance Specialist (at least 12 months experience)*

Job Summary

The levels in the Process Assistant job series for each specific job are based solely on the responsibilities and utilization of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the role.

Process Assistant I

Performs routine and repetitive tasks to support transaction of a part(s) of a business process:

  • Posting data, compiling records and reports in predetermined format, maintaining and preparing simple reports and charts, performing simple calculations, etc.

  • Performs general alphabetic and numeric filing, sorting and cross-referencing.

  • Maintains and updates files, records and logs according to established procedures.

Process Assistant II

Under immediate supervision, this role performs a variety of routine clerical tasks that support a specific workflow or phase within a business process:

  • Accountable for transaction of part(s) of business process.

  • Work requires knowledge in the area of assignment as well as applicable department and company policies and procedures to accomplish the processing of information, documents or materials to include preparing standard reports and charts, compiling data from various sources and forms, contacting other departments to obtain information and reconcile routine discrepancies, performing calculations involving complicated arithmetic, etc.

  • Makes minor corrections, maintains record of documents processed.

  • Informs departments of missing or incorrect data.

  • Utilizes computer systems and/or other related equipment to record, store and retrieve information.

Job Summary

The Construction & Maintenance Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Company's natural gas distribution system.

This position:

- performs location of natural gas lines and facilities

- completes natural gas emergency response procedures and leak investigation/detection

- participates in repairs to damaged gas service lines and other third-party damage using self-contained breathing apparatus equipment

- performs damage prevention outreach to increase awareness of 811 and safe digging practices

- installs leak repair clamps

- repairs tracer wire

- completes a variety of paperwork in writing and electronic work queues

- safely drives a company vehicle

- maintains the vehicle inventory

- Operator Qualifications involve written guidelines and requirements natural gas employees must follow to ensure the safe and responsible operation of natural gas pipelines. Required, annual Operator Qualification testing involves both written and hands-on components to ensure those who perform covered, safety-sensitive tasks on the natural gas system are trained, knowledgeable, and qualified.

This position reports to the Company's Concord Operations Center located in Concord, North Carolina.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

This position has three levels (I, II, III) which allows for progression over time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

- 0 -12 months locating experience.

- Experience with common hand and power tools.

- Ability to calibrate instruments and use self-contained breathing apparatus and pipe squeeze-off equipment.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for positive customer and contractor interactions is critical.

- Basic computer and internet navigation skills are key.

- Strong time management and organizational skills.

- Ability to perform extensive walking, sometimes on uneven terrain.

- Ability to adhere to safe working and defensive driving procedures.

- Ability to work independently and as a team member within a diverse team.

- Availability for overtime, as needed.

- Availability for natural gas emergency response during the workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends, when on-call.

- Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Concord area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for the Company and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when on-call.

- Occasional heavy lifting up to 80 lbs. independently.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:

- 6-12 months of locating experience

- Good mechanical aptitude.

  • Other responsibilities include management of assigned projects, which may include developing work scopes, writing specifications, performing cost estimates and justifications, evaluating bid proposals, and coordinating and supervising the work.

  • Successful candidate must be knowledgeable in industrial safety and have or develop a thorough understanding of power plant systems and processes.

Job Summary

Dominion is currently seeking an Information Security Analyst to join our IT professionals to support the Nuclear Business Unit. This position will be located at VC Summer Power Station. This position will focus on the implementation and maintenance of the nuclear cyber security program and intrusion detection system software.

As part of the IT Nuclear Cyber Security Team, responsible for all cyber activities at the station, including, but not limited to:

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and patching of cyber security monitoring systems including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and software.

  • Review and analysis of Security Controls Analysis documentation as member of the Cyber Security Assessment Team (CSAT).

  • Participation on the Nuclear Cyber Security incident response team (CSIRT).

  • Analysis of Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) for security breaches and ensuring that VC Summer Power Station remains in compliance with the Cyber Security Plan.

  • Performance of rogue wireless access point scans throughout the station power block and monitoring CDAs for rogue connections.

  • Performance of hardening of Windows and Linux workstations and servers.

  • Review of industry guidance for cyber security and application of principles to critical systems and critical digital assets.

  • Identification of gaps in cyber security controls and recommendation of technical or administrative solutions to remediate the gaps.

  • Review of Change Management Records and Design Change Packages for cyber security compliance and impacts.

  • Review of cyber security policies, standards, and procedures in support of programmatic requirements to meet our Cyber Security Plan.

  • Performance of periodic scans and maintenance of removeable media enrolled in the Portable Media Device program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

2+ years of relevant experience required.

Demonstrated experience:

  • Interacting with a Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) systems, including creating and managing alerts, dispositioning events and tuning.

  • Administration of a File Integrity Management (FIM) system, managing clients, creating reports and investigating changes.

  • Experience with network design and security, system hardening, firewall configurations and management of Windows or Linux Security operating systems security.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment, communicate with other team members or clients and make decisions appropriately after consultation to support assigned projects.

Familiar with:

  • Cyber security principles, and defense-in-depth techniques

  • Virtualization technologies, Anti-Malware endpoint protection, backup and recovery software

Job Summary

Dominion Generation is seeking applicants for entry level Welder 2nd Class positions at our North Anna Power Station. This position performs oxygen and acetylene torch operations and welding on piping components, valves and structural steel. Successful candidates will be trained to eventually qualify as 1st Class Welders with the ability to perform GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and brazing on pressure and non-pressure components. While the typical work schedule for this position is 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., availability is required to work overtime and night shift when needed.

Some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) may be required to support other station outages.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

-High school diploma or GED is required.

-Minimum one year of welding experience with piping and pressure vessels.

-The ability to perform GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and brazing on pressure and non-pressure components is preferred.

-Must be or be able to become respirator and SCBA qualified.

-Power Station welding experience, pipefitting experience, abilities in pipefitting, layout, print reading and fabrication of components are preferred.

-Candidate may be required to become a member of the station Emergency Response Organization.

Coordinate use of controls equipment and facilities

Conduct meetings with contractors and accompany personnel on cost control matters

Prepare cost estimates and develop detailed power station construction project schedules

Implement, evaluate, and monitor controls systems

Coordinate use of controls equipment and facilities

Interface with other departments to coordinate and integrate support requirements on construction schedules

Evaluate project field and scope changes for impact on cost and/or schedule and update project budgets

Sr Controls Specialist

Develop and review project estimates and schedules

Monitor actual project cost and/or work status data to ensure projects proceed on schedule and within budget and provide status reports to management

Develop and review OandM and capital budgets and analyze monthly cost reports

Assist in training lower-level controls personnel. Implement, evaluate and monitor controls systems

Coordinate use of controls equipment, facilities and maintenance activities

Conduct meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters

Act as lead controls discipline representative to major projects

Interface and coordinate with other corporate and station groups

Establish and implement cost and planning control policy and procedures for power station construction project

Attend work control and outage meetings and coordinate completion of work as scheduled through work control process

Responsible for understanding crew sizes and coordinating the work to be overseen by the Department Superintendents by effectively using resources such as staffing, equipment and supplies to ensure optimum availability, productivity, and safe operating performance

Responsible for evaluating risk for plant work and developing risk plans for the department's work plans

Coordinate and manage emergent work into the on-line schedule.

Support the development and implementation of outage schedules as requested by Outage and Planning to ensure on-line schedule integration.

Prepare viable work schedules

Develops solutions to scheduling problems and resolves related plant resource, schedule, and staffing issues

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for Substation Protection and Control Conceptual Design , scope of work and estimates for Dominion's Electric Transmission and Electric Distribution Substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or modify Protection and Control design documents and drawings for substation projects including the relay functional diagrams and relay panel arrangement drawings.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplined teams (including but not limited to Substation Engineers, Transmission Line Engineers, System Protection Engineering, Data Communications Engineering, Standards Engineering, Transmission & Distribution Planners, Electric Transmission Field Operations, Project Managers) to fully develop the Protection & Control scope of work.

  • Create project cost estimates using material and labor costing database for the Protection & Control portion of projects. Make necessary updates to the database to improve accuracy and consistency.

  • Develop Conceptual Engineering Estimate Packages for projects and support the Project Managers to take proposed projects through the project approval process.

  • Facilitate smooth transition of the conceptual design to detail engineering and construction team.

  • Provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed. Provide assistance to less experienced engineers and technicians in conceptual engineering, detail engineering and the field.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant work engineering experience. Prefer three years of work experience in Protection & Control applications

Engineer III: 5+years of relevant work engineering experience. Prefer five years of work experience in Protection & Control applications

Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years relevant work experience

Engineering Technical Specialist III : 5+ years relevant work experience

  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of substation components and their functions

  • Firm understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment

  • Ability to read, interpret, and modify one-line diagrams, relay functional diagrams, elementary diagrams, panel wiring diagrams and communications diagrams.

  • Familiarity with electromechanical and microprocessor-based Protection & Control systems

  • Some drafting experience preferred. Experience with AutoCAD or Microstation is a plus

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices

  • Planning, organizational and project management skills

  • Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment, but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information

- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
