Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified individuals interested in becoming a Systems Operator in Training at Hatch Nuclear Power Plant. Be part of a talented and progressive team that works well together. You must be committed to the success of your peers as well as your own.

In this position, the candidate will initially enter an approximate 12 month training program to become a Systems Operator. Once successfully trained the Systems Operator is responsible for operating various parts of the nuclear plant to ensure safe, efficient operation of facility.

Systems ors in Training will attend the in-house training with no collateral duties.

Operators are responsible for the monitoring of equipment, performance of valve and system operation evolutions, and performance of unit evolution and cleanliness of equipment in assigned areas of the plant. They are expected to maintain satisfactory performance in system operator requalification program and progress towards qualification as plant operator. The candidate must consistently meet and demonstrate the expectations of Southern Company Values and Principles of Nuclear operation.

REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements - (must meet at least 1 of the following 3 requirements)

Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology (NUCP)

BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree or other BS related degree (must graduate by December 2022).

Previous operations experience with a commercial nuclear power plant or 24 MONTHS previous Navy Nuclear experience as MM, EM, ET, Reactor Operator, EOW/PPWO, EWS/PPWS can be substituted for degree

The Accountant position will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting activities of Georgia Power. The position will work on a team primarily responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of documents to support internal and external reporting objectives, including SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K and FERC Forms 1 and 3-Q, other comprehensive income, hedges and derivatives, disclosure controls procedures, debt accounting, subsidiary accounting, and monthly closing of the Company's financial records. This position will work closely with other support groups within Georgia Power and the Southern Company system, as well as with internal and external auditors.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation of journals and account reconciliations in order to ensure timely month-end closing and integrity of financials.

  • Prepares assigned sections of and compiles support for required external reports, which include SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K and FERC Forms 1 and 3Q.

  • Analyzes general ledger data trends to support variance conclusions for Georgia Power's financial statements.

  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations, including compilation of control evidence.

  • Promotes innovation, improves repetitive processes, and creates efficiencies in a dynamic work flow environment.

  • Assists with management of the monthly close process.

Job Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent

  • 2-5 years of experience in the accounting field

  • Proficiency in applying U.S. GAAP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or CPA (or equivalent)

  • Experience in public accounting, technical accounting research, FERC accounting, and/or financial reporting

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP is a plus

Alabama Power hires entry-level power plant workers at various plants around Alabama. Starting pay is approximately $22.43/hr benefits with the opportunity for two raises a year given expected performance.

The Plant Auxiliary position is an entry-level position that accomplishes a wide variety of work, often physically demanding, throughout an entire shift. They lift and move heavy-duty electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic tools, equipment and materials while maintaining safe work practices. Good eye-hand-foot and motor coordination are necessary to climb stairs and ladders, to work at heights of over 100 feet, to reach, handle, grasp, to work foot controls, and to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop and stand for long periods of time. This position assists in the operation and maintenance of Alabama Power generating plants. Experience in a physically demanding work environment and ability to work with all types of tools is desired. Plant Auxiliaries work rotating shifts and must be available for overtime and call outs. Experience or knowledge of mechanics, electricity, shop machinery, welding, and piping work is desired.

  • 2 years Secondary Education or Technical Degree (Industrial or Technical majors) preferred

  • 1-2 years of manual labor, construction, maintenance, electrical or working on heavy equipment preferred

  • Ability to work in confined spaces

Southern Nuclear Company is looking for a highly motivated individual to work as a project cost control/forensic accounting analyst in the Dry Cask Storage department. Job duties involve building monthly reports to be used in litigation efforts supporting ongoing cost recovery with the Department of Energy, while also providing general oversight for cost management and control of other capital projects that are selected for cost tracking. These responsibilities will involve cross-functional teamwork with personnel from the plant sites, project managers, cost estimators, financial, and others.

This position also supports the entire Fleet Outage Services organization with monthly cost support. This individual works with SNC internal project managers, financial services, legal counsel and site project teams to gather and document monthly transaction details ensuring timesheets, records, invoices and other charges are coded correctly.

The ideal candidate will have project cost controls and/or forensic accounting background and will have Oracle accounting support software experience with ability to pull financial data, analyze and document. A knowledge of, or ability to learn, high level Primavera P6 scheduling software is desired to audit upcoming work orders for correct cost structure and manpower loading.

Below are some of the duties to be performed by the individual filling this role:

  • Provide extensive oversight to ensure consistency within the Project Controls organization for all cost analyst functions.

  • Be proficient in the use of PowerPlan, MAXIMO, ORACLE and other cost and commitment systems at SNC.

  • Work closely with the Cost Estimating and Scheduling Leads in the development of project cash flows from project cost estimates and schedules.

  • Coordinate with the Project Scheduling Lead to ensure that the cost projections for all projects are properly aligned and reflect the activities identified in the project schedule to support EVM.

  • Establish processes and guidelines, as well as provide oversight for the following activities:

  • Assigning cost codes to all PO commitments & expenditures

  • Monitoring all project commitments & expenditures for correctness of cost coding

  • Interfacing with Financial & Business Operations to correct errors in the commitment or payment process and insure accuracy in the cost system

  • Tracking craft labor and site related project expenses

  • Monthly cost reporting and analysis

  • Scope monitoring to ensure they are properly forecasted and reported

This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the Portfolio Management (PfM) function within the T&PS Project Controls- East organization. This position provides leadership of a team that is responsible for the implementation of the T&PS and GPC Program Management Office (PMO) Project Controls guidance documents and procedures in support of the GPC Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Projects. The Project Controls Portfolio Management supervisor is responsible for leading the team to ensure consistent program and portfolio level analysis and reporting on Estimating, Cost, Schedule, Risk, Change Management, and Earned Value Management. This position will also support data requests for regulatory filings and inquiries.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the oversight of the Technical and Project Solutions (T&PS) Project Controls Cost team for the East region. This includes:

  • Providing direction and implementation of Project Controls Cost policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Ensuring Project Controls Cost deliverables meet and/or exceed stakeholder expectations.

  • Providing strategic planning for all aspects of project cost tracking / analyzing. This position may have full time and/or supplemental direct reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • College diploma or university degree in an engineering, technical, or business field or minimum 7 years equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years working directly in project controls/project management/construction management highly preferred.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment required.

  • Experience with EPC projects (engineering, procurement, construction, and startup) highly preferred.

  • Experience supervising a team, setting priorities, managing resources, and putting strategic objectives into place highly preferred.

  • Experience using Power Plan, Maximo, Oracle, and other associated cost tracking tools required.

  • Experience performing cost tracking and analysis on large T&PS managed EPC type projects highly preferred.

Knowledge

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cost Management: Supervises the cost team for the East region and ensures T&PS Project Controls standards are being met.

  2. Cost Reporting: Oversees the project cost reporting for the East region. Ensures all projects receive accurate and timely cost reports needed to support effective project management.

  3. Customer Relations: Serves as interface between Project Controls and customers. Implements recommended actions and improvements within their assigned region. Works closely with other Team Leads to ensure consistent implementation of Project Controls deliverables. Exhibits ability to work well with project managers, portfolio managers, procurement, engineering, construction, project controls, and accounting personnel.

  4. Strategic Planning: Proactively investigates shortcomings and unserved needs and prepares recommendations and business cases as appropriate. Assesses effectiveness of improvement initiatives post-implementation and plans corrective actions as appropriate. Communicates strategic plans to ensure understanding and shared vision.

The Project Controls Portfolio Management supervisor is responsible for leading the team to ensure consistent program and portfolio level analysis and reporting on Estimating, Cost, Schedule, Risk, Change Management, and Earned Value Management. This position will also support data requests for regulatory filings and inquiries.

Description

* THIS IS AN ABOVE GROUND POSITION

Entry level position responsible for completing a variety of tasks in support of field operations to include deactivation of service, delayed match, corrosion inspections, meter paints, reading meters and assisting with other maintenance activities as needed. Serves as a member of a crew engaged in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas mains and service lines. Performs basic tasks including operating heavy equipment, using hand tools, basic leak investigation, assisting in mechanical joining, landscape maintenance and traffic control. Performs meter reading, ERT installations and ERT programming in conjunction Automated Meter Reading duties. This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 1997). This position will have an automatic progression pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Efficiently works a route to complete customer and compliance orders in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures.

  • Observes all safety requirements and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.

  • Actively and accurately captures documentation in the Mobile Data Terminal and recognizes abnormal operating conditions such as corrosion, meters under stress, etc.

  • Assists in connecting and disconnecting gas service, manually turning meters on and off.

  • Assists in conducting investigations of high bill complaints, stop meters and special readings by meter reading validation.

  • Assists in performing regular meter inspections, paints and maintenance of above and below ground gas systems.

  • Responds to questions from customers and provides answers directly or by referral.

  • Provide assistance with all distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system to include:

  • Operating basic equipment and tools

  • Traffic control

  • Landscaping and general maintenance

  • Digging, shoring, repairing leaks, testing and wrapping pipes

  • Pressure recording devices

  • Uses a variety of tools (hand, air, shovels, etc.) while performing distribution crew activities.

  • Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools and other equipment in neat and orderly condition.

  • Operates Automated Dispatch system to complete meter reads and turn-offs service at customer's premise.

  • Identifies abnormal operating conditions and takes appropriate actions.

  • Performs simple sniff tests to detect gas leaks.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education, Certificate/Licenses:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools and equipment

  • Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred:

Description

Functional Expertise:

  • Oversees construction of underground gas utility infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

  • Drives field decision-making and coordinates with centralized scheduling, internal and/or external service providers and support departments (environmental and real estate) and external agencies to ensure that work is performed as planned, permitted and scheduled.

  • Orders materials and tools needed to properly execute field work.

  • Inspects Construction (safety, compliance, quality, locates and restoration).

  • Reviews and approves work orders, progress reports, field changes, invoices, as-built records and bid contracts to ensure compliance and company standards and policies.

  • Appraises Engineering, new business, regional and other applicable stakeholders on project progress.

  • Monitors project specific budget and/or cost per unit variances and identifies exceptions/variances and appropriate corrective actions.

  • Responds to emergency situations in a specific region during after hours (duty supervisor)

Business Acumen:

  • Provides vision and direction for direct internal crew reports within a functional or regional arena of responsibility.

  • Evaluates and recommends field design changes to optimize project investment and spend.

  • Prepares and monitors monthly and annual capital and operating expense budgets and implements cost control within a functional and/or geographic area.

Engagement:

  • Responsible for enhancing productivity of direct reports through training, motivation and performance coaching.

  • Interprets pipeline contracts to effectively leverage and negotiate the application of contractual items with external service providers.

  • Maintains customer satisfaction through timely and thorough communication with individual customers, municipalities and other governmental agencies (IDOT, Counties, Townships, etc.) at pre-con meetings and throughout the project.

  • Instills corporate values and personal responsibility into field reports.

  • Influences external contractors who represent the company by shadowing corporate values.

Driving Results:

  • Oversees employees who construct gas utility infrastructure.

  • Establishes and monitors work goals and objectives. Measures employee performance and sets safety, quality and productivity metrics.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • Valid Driver's License

  • BA/BS Degree OR 3 years experience in construction and/or distribution operations in a gas utility, pipeline transmission, or other energy/utility related field.

Related Work Experience:

Preferred:

  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience

  • Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Required:

  • Geographic Information System (GIS) or comparable system-intermediate proficiency

  • Oracle Financials - intermediate proficiency

Description

JOB SUMMARY

This Gas Supply Operations position is responsible for developing system load forecasts of Southern Company Gas' utilities. This position requires strong analytical, technical, and quantitative skills with the ability to utilize statistical forecasting models. This role supports multiple business units including Gas Supply, Gas Control, Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs.

This position may be filled as Gas Supply Operations Analyst I (GSCO - 05), II (GSCO - 06), or III (GSCO - 07).

Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.

This position can work out of our Atlanta, GA or Naperville, IL location.

This is Hybrid work schedule based on the business needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPENTENCY

Functional Expertise:

  • Acquires historical load, temperature, and billing unit data for analysis.

  • Utilizes statistical models to analyze data and develop load forecasts.

  • Develops design day load forecasts and load duration curves.

  • Develops monthly, seasonal, and annual forecasts of daily system load.

  • Develops statistical modeling philosophies and establishes criteria for load forecasting.

  • Evaluates capacity asset and gas supply alternative costs and risks.

  • Provides support in various multi-state and federal (FERC) regulatory proceedings including preparing data request responses, reviewing testimony, and analyzing interstate pipeline rate and tariff filing impacts.

  • Prepares ad-hoc analysis as requested such as identifying peak send out days, coldest weather days, weather pattern scenarios and other various load and supply portfolio information.

  • Effectively communicates and presents results of analysis.

Business Acumen:

  • Analyzes load, weather, and billing unit data to help drive business decisions.

  • Confirms accuracy of analysis and data.

  • Effectively communicates analysis, assumptions, and results.

  • Demonstrates experience in statistical modeling and a familiarity of the natural gas industry.

  • Develops recommendations and documentation to support and coordinate business decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in statistics, economics, finance/accounting, engineering, or a related discipline/field of study

Preferred:

  • MBA, EIT, PM certification or equivalent degree

  • Previous forecasting experience

  • Familiarity with machine learning, neural networks, and/or stochastic models

  • Demonstrated experience in building predictive models using multiple modeling methods in R, Python, or SAS

  • Experience in using hydraulic modeling systems, Monte Carlo statistical simulations, and supply optimization models

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities

  • Ability to work independently while keeping management informed

  • Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and regression modeling

  • Natural gas industry experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Southern Company Gas' gas operations

  • Natural gas industry experience with gas supply, interstate pipeline capacity, and state/federal regulatory proceedings

  • Forecast modeling experience

  • Experience with statistical package software

Summary of Position Duties:

This position performs technical and analytical services essential to the proper operation and maintenance of a power generating plant. Responsibilities for this position include the proper monitoring and operation of the chemical protection equipment associated with all boilers, turbines, and related steam generating equipment. This position is also responsible for the proper operation of the water treatment plant for the production of de-ionized and filtered water. Additional responsibilities for this position also include bulk chemical handling and unloading of chemical trucks, proper operation and support of all environmental equipment, and developing and distributing chemistry reports or other technical guidance. This role will also support all chemistry related projects and provide leadership and technical assistance on chemistry related issues to plant personnel. Partial relocation may be available for this position.

Duties include:

  • Maintain chemical protection of all boilers, turbines, and related steam generating equipment and provide technical support for operations.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the water treatment plant for production of de-ionized and filtered water.

  • Calibrate and maintain all laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

  • Operate and maintain condensate polishing equipment.

  • Conduct sampling of water, fuel, wastewater, or other items as needed.

  • Monitor and maintain all environmental controls equipment under the responsibility of the Laboratory Department.

  • Perform analytical testing and monitor all plant effluents to assure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

  • Maintain bulk chemical and laboratory consumables inventory.

  • Oversee bulk chemical handling and transporting.

  • Develop and coordinate activities and resources in support of technical projects such as retrofits, equipment upgrades, and/or process changes.

Job Experience and Education

  • BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required.

  • Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment; knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques.

  • Experience and competency in the proper operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of analytical, inorganic, environmental and water chemistries

  • Detailed knowledge of chemical treatment methods and operation of water treatment plant is preferred

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, read and understand schematic diagrams and identify plant water process problems

  • Proficiency in various Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Digital Workplace Solutions organization the Hardware Asset Management Analyst will be responsible for overseeing hardware asset management daily activity. The Hardware Asset Management Analyst will oversee third-party PC warehouse operations, IT asset disposal, and hardware warranty administration for Dell, Panasonic, Microsoft, and HP devices. This position will also serve as the lead asset administrator within our Hardware Asset Management system and assist in lifecycle activities associated with the annual PC Refresh program, including tracking metrics of on-time replacements and returns. Additionally, this position will support cost savings initiatives and associated Governance activity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Technical Skills Required

  • Experienced in managing technology assets and asset lifecycle management.

  • Experience working with Hardware Asset Management systems (Remedy experience a plus)

  • Experience managing multiple supplier relationships including managed service providers

  • Experience working with Microsoft System Center Suite of Products; with primary focus on SCCM

  • Oversee warehouse operations through third-party provider. Ensure all assets in warehouse are accounted for and IT Asset Disposal records are accurate and up to date

  • Manages all warranty aspects for Dell, Panasonic, Microsoft, and HP PC assets

  • Maintain and improve the quality and integrity of the asset management data sources

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the support and development of the DevOps footprint within the Enabling Technology COE. Responsibilities of the position include all aspects of application development relative to DevOps functions, production support for standard and custom components, solution delivery of new enhancements and bug fixes, and configuration responsibilities. It also includes developing and maintaining standards that ensure the team can build and support high quality and robust solutions in the space. This will include designing and implementing Build and Release pipelines to package and deploy solutions quickly and securely. Job Experience & Education :

JOB SUMMARY

This position will provide daily contracting and sourcing support (request for proposal, negotiations, contract development, risk mitigation, tracking, analysis) to meet the acquisition needs for services and materials. This position will also work closely with our category management strategies in support of contracting requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties will include the daily support of all sourcing & contracting activities "from cradle to grave", including advising customers on Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation, lead pre-bid meetings, review of offers upon receipt from bidders, cost & price analysis, negotiations, risk assessment, preparing contract documents and agreements; assists in contract administration, incorporation of changes, expediting & follow-up, disposition of claims, and contract closeout.

  • Duties will require leading sourcing projects, assisting in developing and implementing strategic programs for the procurement of Equipment and Services.

  • Expectations include outstanding oral and written communications with ability to excel in high-level communications with Management at multiple levels.

  • Develop the sourcing strategy for low to high-risk services. A typical agent will support ~(20 - 25) active projects concurrently with defined turnaround parameters (Target Days) for all contract related documents (RFPs, Master Agreements, Non-Disclosure, Amendments, Statements of Work, etc.) throughout the year.

  • Manage relationships with the company's vendors and ensure efficient and transparent contracting and negotiation process to reduce costs, improve commercial terms and reduce duplication of efforts.

  • Work cross functionally to improve and streamline processes.

  • Ensure that overall risk is properly controlled and mitigated.

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the Southern Company and Operating Company procurement policies/procedures and have the capability to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Expected to build and maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of essential legal provisions, contract common law, contract formation issues, data security issues, remedies, liquidated damages, litigation avoidance, and dispute resolution.

  • Ensure all required terms and conditions are included in procurement documents and work with legal, risk management and financial services (accounting) to resolve contractor exceptions and issues in a timely manner.

  • Draft contract language, including special conditions for complex, non-standard purchases.

  • Identify and evaluate new sources of supply, domestic and globally, when necessary to meet customer needs, including performing market research and analysis.

  • Build and maintain a fundamental to proficient knowledge of our contracting systems utilized in daily support.

  • Conflict Resolution, the ability to engage and fix identified issues.

  • Maintain the primary interface with contractors in an ethical and respectful manner while protecting the company's interests.

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES specific to TECHNOLOGY support

  • Duties will include the support of technology related procurement activities, including negotiation of Software License Agreements, Application Service Provider Agreements, Subscription Service Agreements, Master Technology Equipment Purchase Agreements, etc.

Experience developing communications campaigns and producing web videos and web content is a plus.

Position Overview:

Southern Company is seeking a passionate and experienced Adversary Threat Hunter to join our Technology Security organization. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, engineering or security-related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years IT security experience

  • Broad knowledge of core information security principles (e.g., access control, least privilege, data integrity)

  • Thorough understanding of network design principles (including topology, protocols, network components, and principles)

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP network stack, network technologies, network traffic analysis and protocols

  • Practical experience with Splunk or comparable Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for design, implementation, administration, and support the Avaya telephony infrastructure relating to data/voice communications equipment; AWE, ACDs, IVR, Dialer, Recorders, etc.

  • Responsible for proactively analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving telecommunications systems and circuit issues in a timely manner. This includes managing vendors and communicating status to management.

  • Responsible for participating in planning, design, implementation, and management of projects that may include new locations, onboarding new customers, and deploying new technologies across the network.

  • Responsible for assisting in the management and prioritization of an annual budget for network and voice improvements in concert with related network planning, business case development and engineering design.

  • Responsible for development of and compliance with contact center system standards including documentation, product, lifecycle plans, and design packages.

  • Responsible for developing and participation in the successful completion of Contact Center Technology initiatives and Information Technology initiatives.

  • Responsible for providing primary maintenance (reactive, preventative, and quality assurance) support related to the identified voice and contact center equipment at specific Southern Company locations.
