Building Construction Products (BCP) Division has a product development engineering opportunity as the Engineering Manager - Product Validation and Facility Management for the Clayton Machine Development Center (CMDC) located in Clayton, North Carolina USA.

Within this role, the successful candidate will be a leader of leaders that oversees a sixty-person organization of test engineers, product development technicians; and endurance operators to build, test, and validate products from BCP's global product line. Additionally, the successful candidate will have leadership, planning, and operational responsibilities for safety, compliance, sustainability, site expansions, capital, and improving the employee experience.

Specifically, as the Engineering Manager, you can expect to:

  • Lead the facility's safety strategy and drive a positive, accountable, and relentless safety culture.

  • Provide strategic vision along with multi-generation planning and execution for the location's buildings, fields, and overall product development capabilities.

  • Serve and collaborate with BCP's global product groups to plan, execute, and balance multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs, regularly with competing timeline priorities, through the facility's build, test, and validation operations.

  • Lead the facility's compliance strategy and ensure legal, regulatory, and company compliance requirements are met in a lean, timely, and practical manner.

  • Provide relationship management to other divisions operating on site and ensure healthy collaboration, proper program support, and resource alignments are achieved.

  • Develop, execute, and sustain an -employee experience- team and strategy.

To be successful in this role, you must bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other accredited engineering curriculum.

  • Progressive and extensive experience in machine product design and/or system design with components integration and/or product validation.

  • Experience as an established, successful leader with demonstration of capability to lead, motivate and influence directly and indirectly.

  • Perform quality inspection based on the check- list of inspection points/procedures

  • Complete inspections using a checklist and tooling provided (static tools, dry leak testing, Cab electrical tests, templates, etc.)

In this critical role, you will be responsible for creating and managing project plans for New Technology Introduction and New Product Introduction battery projects for our E&APS Division. You will work within the NTI / NPI framework to deliver high visibility battery programs on-time and to specification by improving the effectiveness of project plans, helping to position Caterpillar to sit at the forefront of the energy transition.

A thorough understanding of project management tools and processes is required. Incumbent will have demonstrated the ability to facilitate programs, lead chartering sessions, develop critical paths, lead integration and compression sessions. Position reports into the NPI Program Manager.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating with program managers to schedule and support program control meetings & compression sessions and drive schedule changes/corrections

  • Leading update meetings for program level issues/action logs, risk registers/FMEAs, scope change requests/logs, program work plans, program cost tracking and provide workshop planning, execution and follow-up assistance

  • Creating accurate and detailed schedules including:

  • Capturing all information, interpreting, and identifying relationships between activities

  • Analyzing data from schedule updates

Global Rental, Service & Marketing (GRSM) is a part of the Services, Distribution & Digital (SD&D) segment. GRSM is comprised of Global Rental & Used Equipment Services, Global Service and Global Marketing & Brand. A primary role of GRSM is to support and enhance Caterpillar's dealer network, which is a competitive strength and the critical way in which we serve our customers.

As an Electrification Product Support Manager , you will develop, implement, and manage product support processes as it relates to the Energy Transition. You will coordinate all efforts across Global Service with Industries, Product Groups, E&APS, REMAN, ICS, etc.

Reporting to this position are E-Rebuild readiness, Serviceability, Dealer Readiness and Communications. This position provides leadership to coordinate Global Service around the energy transition / electrification and will work with Industries, Product Groups, E&PS, REMAN, ICS, DSDs, and dealers on a worldwide basis with service operations. This includes various Power System and machine technologies: battery electric machines, Hydrogen, tethered, diesel electric, alternative fuels etc. There is significant interaction with groups on power requirements, Services Growth, charging, Services Businesses, operation practices, safety, training, tooling, DSD, dealer readiness and customer support.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Working with Product Groups on Serviceability and product support strategies

  • Representing Global Service on Electrification Teams

  • Collaborating with other Global Service areas as a single point of contact for outside groups

  • Coordinating and championing dealer readiness for the energy transition

  • Supporting DSDs on Capability and Capacity for electrified products

  • Working with partners on service strategy MGPPs

  • Working with Priority Dealers on defined areas of improvement

  • Ensure the best offering by leveraging efficiencies and alignment on REMAN usage

  • Prioritizing resource allocation

  • Leading strategic cross functional teams

  • Metric tracking of programs / projects

  • Ensuring safety in all Service Operations processes

  • Establish and maintain lines of communication with Global Service peers, Industries, Product Groups, E&APS, ICS, REMAN, DSDs and Dealers.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; or equivalent work experience

  • 9+ years of progressively responsible product support experience

  • Must be willing to travel up to 15% of working time (domestic and international)

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Previous experience working within a large organization, with knowledge of organizational roles and responsibilities

-Coordinate inventory audit processes and associated system adjustments

-Coordinate with logistics and internal process teams to handle receipt match discrepancies

-Interface with facility process partners and coordinate voice of customer to logistics team to improve processes

-Lead meetings with multifunctional team to track performance and drive results

-Lead inventory reconciliation and investigate root cause

-Regularly lead problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement

-Accountable for tracking inventory metrics and meeting Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost goals
