Description

The purpose of this position is to conduct the analytical tracking and reporting processes to support Strategic Billing functions which includes Customer Select, and Gas Transportation. This includes gathering, interpreting, and formatting all metrics and providing analytics for internal/external presentations on behalf of Strategic Billing. This position traditionally focuses on reviewing and ensuring the accuracies and effectiveness of daily processes. Conversely, this position generates timely reports, through Client Connect, CC&B, and RBI. The incumbent for this role should have a keen eye for detail, and strong analytical skills. The Customer Select analyst will support successful business practices, and improve document business process and track metrics to ensure compliance.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specify major duties performed by the job

. Liaison for external CSEL suppliers for communication of month end close processes/Critical Day

. Administer analytical tracking and reporting processes of business metrics for internal use and regulatory compliance for Strategic billing functions

. Manage Reports (Consumption Details, Month End Customer Select Count)

. Manage/Monitor CSEL Supplier Inquiries and CSEL end user issues

. Process Refunds for Suppliers

. Partner with internal stakeholders to solve billing inquiries

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) leading Strategic Solutions Projects which include requirements, functional design, and user acceptance testing

. Coordinate and oversee team projects, workflow maintenance and development, and training, onboarding & development initiatives

. Develop an in-depth understanding of our software and service environment, including CC&B

  • Help train and develop new hires and current employees on department processes

. Build strong interdepartmental relationships, team mentoring, execute billing operations work across the organization with a focus on creating a highly collaborative culture of timely and accurate billing

. Manage communication and partner with cross-functional teams including the Technology Organization, Legal, Accounting and Executive Leadership.

Basic Function:

Responsible for various project engineering, project management, and problem-solving activities associated with large multi-faceted projects, including engineering, procurement, construction, and feasibility studies to support strategic objectives.

This position may be filled at Engineer, III (Level 5) or Senior Engineer (Level 6). Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs engineering assignments involved in the design and construction of natural gas infrastructure, including gas processing and storage facilities, compressor stations, and LNG plant facilities.

  • Provides technical support through the use of simulations/modeling to support expansions and changes (pipeline, compression, storage, metering and regulation, interconnects, and corrosion control)

  • Directs, evaluates, and reviews the documentation of technical specifications and requirements.

  • Performs review of engineered drawings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local code regulations and with corporate standards and specifications

  • Develop statement of work documents to secure and manage engineering service providers, inspectors, and other technical resources that may be needed to develop the project. Approves material specifications.

  • Manages outside engineering services to ensure project goals are met on complex or high-cost jobs.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in applying codes and standards to perform natural gas engineering, plant construction, and operation.

  • Serves as project manager; assists in determining project objectives on the development of a comprehensive project design, outlines project requirements, assigns tasks, coordinates project activities with other operating units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff on project, supervises progress to ensure objectives are met.

  • Maintains working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices. Ensure engineering standards, methods and practices are in regulatory compliance.

  • Develops design options or recommendations to improve system optimization. Assesses feasibility of engineering solutions.

  • Researches and evaluates operational performance, safety regulation compliance and cost impact of equipment and material utilization for gas systems.

  • Conducts research to complete studies and formulating proposals and recommendations.

  • Participates in procurement process to identify acceptable vendors and contractors. Evaluates bids and coordinate with other departments to ensure consistence with corporate standards.

  • Stays abreast of industry engineering and construction trends, implementing best practices into plans.

  • Participates in design and process safety reviews of existing and grass roots facilities.

  • Oversees or supports construction activities.

  • Develops engineering standards, methods and guidelines.

  • Trains and mentors less senior engineers. Provides technical direction to project team members.

  • Level 6 grade may have supervisory duties of other engineers. The Stakeholder Engagement Team Lead role will be responsible for leading the successful execution of Power Delivery's Transmission Stakeholder Engagement strategy, focusing on championing the customer both internally and externally. In addition, this role will support the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in the Storm Center during major storm events. Job Requirements

. Undergraduate degree in engineering, public relations, communications, or related field is a plus

. Experience in the utility industry preferred

Major Job Responsibilities

. Develop, implement, and oversee engagement processes between GPC Transmission teams and customers

. Collaborate with other internal communication contributors to review and approve high-quality Transmission content for internal/external use

. Develop relationships within Power Delivery, Corporate Communications, Land Acquisition, and External Affairs

. Prepare presentations at appropriate detail tailored to specific internal and external audiences

. Review and approve custom collateral such as mailed postcards, email campaigns, and phone survey campaigns

. Develop and share customer sentiment reports from survey data and LIMS database

. Lead customer information meetings and public open houses as needed in support of Transmission projects

. Lead project update meetings with internal partners to share progress and key updates on Transmission projects as needed

. Serve as a resource to oversee and handle escalated customer inquiries

. Lead additional specific strategic Transmission engagement initiatives

. Provide support to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in the Storm Center during large storm events

JOB SUMMARY

This position provides investigative and physical security services to Mississippi Power in response to complaints of violations of Federal, State, and local laws; regulatory mandates; and company policies. Education

Electric Transportation (ET) Project Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

The ET Project Specialist exists to support Mississippi Power's strategic objective of accelerating the adoption of electric transportation. This person will proactively provide electrification consultation with high-priority customers and strengthen partner relationships.

The Project Specialist effectively works with internal and external partners to successfully manage multiple customer projects. ET Project management includes customer ET consultations, ongoing communications, site design recommendations, rate assessments, contracting, easements, and vendor engagement through project completion.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Thorough knowledge of electric utility infrastructure & equipment; power delivery, including electrical design requirements, operations, practices, and procedures required

Applied electrical experience preferred

Experience in project management and working directly with customers or vendors/contractors required

Sales experience strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

. Knowledge of the Electric Transportation Market including around customer base, market research and trends interpreting data points and adapting strategies based on data

Basic understanding of Mississippi Power rates and their implementation

Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities and in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Effectively interacts with both external and internal stakeholders to develop strategies that meet goals

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Proactive Sales - Partner with major accounts team to reach high-priority ET customer targets

. Sales Targets -

o High-value applications (ports, large industrial equipment, large operations, off-road)

o Medium duty and heavy duty fleet opportunities (strategic planning when vehicles are not readily available)

o Public Charging (NEVI, Tesla, Electrify America, etc.)

o Commercial L2 and DCFC (Dealerships, hospitality, MUSH, etc.)

. Inform customers of MPC's commercial incentives, federal incentives and funding opportunities and educate them about the value of providing public EV charging for customers, employees, and visitors

. Provide ET consultative services to customers for vehicles, chargers options, fleet conversions, charging strategies, rate options

. Ask probing business questions and route other Mississippi Power opportunities to the sales organization

. Conduct site assessments with customer and operations and/or electrician partners at customer locations

. Work with legal and contracts departments on customer revisions to our contract and easement documents as needed, preparing contracts, exhibits and easement documents for customer signatures

. Develop final project design plans and costs in coordination with customer and design/implementation partners -

o Work with Power Delivery to determine existing capacity on transformers and future utility infrastructure needs based on design and future customer charging needs.

o Prepare iClear Load sheets

o Determine rate impacts of charging additions

o Present site design plan for customer review and approval.

. Properly document each project

. Communicate project results to internal and external partners along the way

. Work with vendors/installers to turn projects over for installation

. Work with Distribution Accounting and Supply Chain to ensure accounting and purchasing orders are set up to pay vendors/installers

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include developing, communicating, and implementing special waste related environmental programs, guidelines, and compliance strategies for company business units and facilities. This position will be expected to represent the Company before regulatory agencies, external groups, and the public. Responsibilities include project management, training development, obtaining permits and licenses, reporting monitoring results, and performing compliance program reviews and audits.

The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiarity with and/or ability to learn and interpret environmental regulations/requirements including Georgia Solid Waste Management Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Recovery Act (CERCLA) including Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Georgia Hazardous Sites Response Act, Georgia Hazardous Waste Management Act, Georgia Asbestos Safety Act, and others.

  • Support efforts to attain environmental permits, licenses, and certifications. Develop cost effective compliance strategies and programs for waste and remediation related regulations and permits, including developing Environmental Guidelines and appropriate communications and training. Specific responsibilities may include duties associated with, supporting ash pond closures, plant decommissioning, hazardous waste management, special waste handling, and other waste related tasks.

  • Monitor environmental legislative and regulatory activities that impact company operations. Provide interface and input to Southern Company environmental personnel regarding federal or industry environmental issues.

  • Work with appropriate regulatory agencies and external groups to promote informed, balanced, and science-based regulations and permit requirements.

  • Support and monitor Company compliance with various environmental programs with program reviews. Make observations and decisions as to the effectiveness of compliance activities and report those observations and decisions to environmental management and business units.

  • Support personnel with compliance assessments at customer facilities, as needed. Work as a team with other Environmental Analysts, Engineers, and Specialists to develop and implement cost-effective solutions and services for environmental risks.

  • Develop partnerships with all levels of business unit and facilities management to implement low cost and effective environmental programs.

  • Support the Company's environmental policies in all areas, including environmental stewardship initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations.

The Schedule Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of schedule evaluations on the Engineering / Procurement / Construction (EPC) Integrated Project Schedule (IPS). The Senior System Operations Trainer will provide dedicated training for the System Operations department and will focus on preparing candidates to successfully complete training and certification requirements. POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing project scoping, estimating, and conceptual design services in support of the Operating Company's Protection and Control projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the Operating Company's planning and budgeting processes by providing complete and accurate estimates of material, labor, and total costs associated with substation projects. The position will predominately be focused on Alabama Power Company projects however, on occasion will be required to assist with the other Southern Company Entities. The position will require field visits and may involve occasional overnight travel.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • BS Engineering, Engineering Technology or Two-year degree from a technical school/university is strongly preferred.

  • BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree in Electrical is preferred.

  • Substantial work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in transmission and distribution substation protection and control design or field testing and commissioning is required.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for providing project scoping and estimating services in support of the Operating Company's substation projects. Specific requirements are as follows:

  • Create a safe work environment through personal commitment to safety.

  • Apply substation engineering expertise to accurately "scope" projects and to provide quality cost and duration estimates in a timely fashion.

  • Attend substation sites, field scoping meetings, and project meetings to identify scoping additions and/or assist with development of final scope lock.

  • Develop recommended scoping addition document, design planning document and conceptual design packages used to produce cost estimates, project schedules and as the basis for detailed design activities.

  • Provide contractor oversight as needed for outsourced worked in assigned regions within APC

  • Provide timely and accurate cost estimates to customers including Project Management, Transmission Planning, and Transmission Maintenance Support to facilitate budget development and management.

  • Serve as the substation engineering representative on solution team and site selection committees and prepare conceptual designs as required to support the process.

  • Provide input on the development and refinement of substation engineering estimating units used in the estimating system (TEAMS) to ensure accurate estimates of equipment, material, labor durations, and total costs.

  • Provide input on the continued development of Design Planning Document and P&C Scoping Checklist.

  • Provide work direction and oversight for supplemental staff as needed.

  • Participate in and support Technical and Project Solutions activities and initiatives.

  • Serve as a damage assessment team member after major storms after receiving the company-provided training.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for a portfolio of Charitable Giving programs and their lifecycle with annual budget expectations. These responsibilities include:

  • Program Development: develop the overall implementation business plan to meet program objectives and goals for foundation giving programs

  • Foundation Programs/RFPs (e.g., Waters for Georgia, Workforce for Georgia and others)

  • Southern Company and Georgia Power Foundation financial compliance framework including financial statements, audits, taxes and best practices

  • Georgia Power Foundation matching gift program for Club of Hearts and Education

  • Establish goals and manage goal performance

  • Staffing - Develop the strategy for implementing programs through in-house staffing, contractor staffing or a combination of both. Assist in the development of RFPs and selection and subsequent management of the vendors. Manage a matrix organization to achieve program goals.

  • Establish and manage infrastructure to support program implementation (training internal resources, developing protocols and procedures, deploying technology, establishing IT system support, etc.)

  • Develop, execute and manage workplans and implementation schedules

  • Partner with corporate and region teams to achieve program targets and work with assigned internal clients to ensure effective grantmaking

  • Program Results - report program metrics (investments made, populations served, number of communities/families/individuals benefitting, etc.)

  • Assist in the development of detailed progress reports to meet all internal and external reporting requirements. Help ensure accuracy of information.

  • Manage program implementation tracking results to assure performance toward goal

  • Communicate program results to internal partners on a consistent basis

  • Program Evaluations - Help develop evaluation protocols to measure program success

  • Incorporate program evaluation results and recommendations back into the program implementation plans

  • Budget - Help manage Charitable Giving program costs and manage the successful implementation of the programs to achieve higher efficacy and savings (digitization/self service)

External Representation: serve as the Georgia Power's expert to non-profits and other stakeholders relating to corporate social responsibility and social justice topics

DESCRIPTION

This position serves as the single point-of-contact for Power Delivery (PD) Birmingham for environmental, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Department of Transportation (DOT) matters. The position reports to the PD Birmingham Support Manager and works closely with PD Compliance and Support, Safety and Health, and Safety and Training. This position serves as the primary compliance resource for all of PD-Birmingham and will be filled as an exempt level 4 or 5 depending on experience.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Public speaking is required (e.g., safety meetings, compliance training, staff meeting presentations, etc.).

  • Conduct annual compliance training and maintain compliance training records.

  • Conduct new employee orientation and training.

  • Ensure PD Birmingham complies with all DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) laws and regulations.

  • Maintain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) records for applicable employees in the Law Enforcement Agency Driving System (LEADS).

  • Submit medical cards to the State of Alabama.

  • Coordinate audiometric and Fit Testing (Enclosed Space Rescue).

  • Conduct Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.

  • Schedule and administer Proficiency Assessments and tests.

  • Manage oil spill response and lead efforts to ensure spills are addressed immediately and in compliance with current regulations.

  • Conduct facilities inspections/audits to ensure compliance, including Emergency Action Plans, first aid kit audits, facility safety audits, etc.

  • Maintain OSHA records (e.g., OSHA 300 log of work-related injuries and illnesses).

  • Assist employees with the Uniform Program, and order FR for new employees.

  • Ensure proper procedures are communicated and followed regarding PD activities at EPA Superfund Sites.

  • Lead or manage special projects as assigned by Support Manager, Distribution Managers, and General Manager.

  • Local storm restoration efforts and out of town travel storm teams are required.

Job Requirements:

  • Current work experience within APC Power Delivery is a plus.

  • Experience in a safety or compliance leadership role is preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in Distribution or Transmission operations is highly preferred.

  • Experience with presentations and public speaking is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations and how they apply to electric utility work

Education:

  • Provide input on the development and refinement of control estimating practices, guidelines, and training.

  • Apply substation engineering expertise to support and/or perform QA/QC of peer or contract vendor deliverables.

  • Participate in and support Southern Company Transmission activities and initiatives.

  • Serve as a damage assessment team member after major storms after receiving the company-provided training.

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel should be expected within the Southern Company footprint

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing project scoping, estimating, and conceptual design services in support of the Operating Company's substation control projects. This position will be responsible for supporting the Operating Company's planning and budgeting processes by providing complete and accurate estimates of material, labor, and total costs associated with substation control projects. The position will require field visits and may involve occasional overnight travel.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Education:

  • BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree is preferred.

  • BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering is preferred.

  • Two-year degree from a technical school/university or significant related work experience will be considered in lieu of BS degree.

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is a plus

Experience:

  • Prior experience in transmission or distribution planning, design, construction, operations, or maintenance is preferred.

  • Experience in substation Physical Design is strongly preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Description

Engineer/Computer Systems Analyst

This position provides support for operating issues affecting the reliable operations of the bulk electric system for Southern Company Services Transmission's (SCST) Energy Management Systems (EMS). This position is responsible for the implementation, execution, and improvement of operational processes to ensure system availability for all computer systems supported by the EMS department and used by Southern Company transmission control centers as well as the power coordination center (PCC) and their respective back-office personnel.

This position provides day to day operational support for EMS/SCADA system and other tools that support the operational needs of the customer. We are responsible for UNIX/Linux & Windows systems that are built and maintained by the EMS department or provided by vendors. Additional responsibilities include use and maintenance of supporting systems including but not limited to simple hardware replacement, backup systems such as Networker, Exagrid, and Veeam. The team is also involved in DNS management, Git code management, deployments and administrative support, and BMC Remedy (incident and change management).

These positions are located in the Lithia Springs, GA area.

Relocation assistance is available.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of computer system and application support

  • Proficiency with basic Windows administration

  • Proficiency working with UNIX/LINUX systems such as Red Hat is desirable

  • Understanding of physical/virtual servers and workstations maintenance

  • Understanding of computer network concepts

  • Basic programming/scripting skills are desirable (Perl, Python, Shell, PowerShell)

  • Must be able to obtain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Insider Threat Program (ITP) security clearance is required

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required to work with peers and vendors to perform administration of systems and coordinate releases with the vendor(s) as listed above

Experience and Education:

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include developing, communicating, and implementing special waste related environmental programs, guidelines, and compliance strategies for company business units and facilities. This position will be expected to represent the Company before regulatory agencies, external groups, and the public. Responsibilities include project management, training development, obtaining permits and licenses, reporting monitoring results, and performing compliance program reviews and audits.

The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiarity with and/or ability to learn and interpret environmental regulations/requirements including Georgia Solid Waste Management Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Recovery Act (CERCLA) including Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Georgia Hazardous Sites Response Act, Georgia Hazardous Waste Management Act, Georgia Asbestos Safety Act, and others.

  • Support efforts to attain environmental permits, licenses, and certifications. Develop cost effective compliance strategies and programs for waste and remediation related regulations and permits, including developing Environmental Guidelines and appropriate communications and training. Specific responsibilities may include duties associated with, supporting ash pond closures, plant decommissioning, hazardous waste management, special waste handling, and other waste related tasks.

  • Monitor environmental legislative and regulatory activities that impact company operations. Provide interface and input to Southern Company environmental personnel regarding federal or industry environmental issues.

  • Work with appropriate regulatory agencies and external groups to promote informed, balanced, and science-based regulations and permit requirements.

  • Support and monitor Company compliance with various environmental programs with program reviews. Make observations and decisions as to the effectiveness of compliance activities and report those observations and decisions to environmental management and business units.

  • Support personnel with compliance assessments at customer facilities, as needed. Work as a team with other Environmental Analysts, Engineers, and Specialists to develop and implement cost-effective solutions and services for environmental risks.

  • Develop partnerships with all levels of business unit and facilities management to implement low cost and effective environmental programs.

  • Support the Company's environmental policies in all areas, including environmental stewardship initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations.

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize technical information and communicate in a manner suitable for technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision and maintain a flexible schedule which may include non-traditional hours and travel.

  • Judgment skills necessary to make decisions, solve problems, and implement solutions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 plus years of experience in environmental waste and/or remediation.

  • Experience in interpreting environmental regulations and interaction with regulators.

  • Familiarity with hazardous waste and toxic substance regulations, performing waste determinations, and coordinating compliance reporting.

  • Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Background or experience in power plant operations and/or power delivery is a plus.

  • Environmental Management Information System experience is a plus.
