COMPUTER ASSISTANT - Naval Supply Systems Command

Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will use established computer techniques to identify and promptly resolve network-related problems within the organization. You will suggest methods for sequencing and software/hardware operating configuration to accept new requirements and resolve processing malfunctions. You will install hardware and software, maintain network operations, and ensure that inquiries and problems concerning networks, computers, peripherals, and services are expeditiously resolved. You will maintain inventory of all network hardware and software. You will serve as the project officer for recommending selection of and installing new computer systems and software, and maintaining all computer systems. You will provide thorough information and guidance on new procedures or changes to the system and assist users regarding system capabilities in a timely manner. You will provide training and assistance to customers for new computer systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing computer assistant work by using a wide range of analytical and diagnostic methods, principles, and procedures to identify system failures and take corrective action to resume normal operations. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Resolving problems which are conventional to data processing and require differing methods and procedures to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software; 2) Evaluating and allocating system resources to satisfy user requirements and implementing design changes; 3) Monitoring ongoing operation of network systems to identify and promptly resolve network-related problems within the organization to ensure that operational standards are met; 4) Providing consultation and instruction in hardware and software testing; and 5) Assisting in implementing systems for word processing, data storage, retrieval and analysis. Summary You will serve as a Management Assistant in the Supply Management Department within the Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville FL (FLCJ) of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. Responsibilities You will be responsible for performing fact finding and analysis of manpower requirements and maintaining statistical data in support of all administrative functions of the Supply Management Department (SMD) and/or installation Supply Department. You will research, coordinate, and prepare reports as necessary relating to the department's organizational charts, telecommunications/recall roster updates, and other similar type rosters. You will be responsible for tracking the SMD or Site's Plant Property/Minor Property to ensure that the Defense Property Assets Control System (DPAS) matches the actual inventory at the SMD or Site. You will compile data received or obtain information from other sources to answer any data calls or Requests for Information (RFIs). You will bring potential problem areas to the attention of the SMD and/or Deputy Site Director/Supply Officer. You will assist in preparing reports, spreadsheets, Power Point presentations for submittal to the SMD Deputy Director and/or Deputy Site Director/Supply Officer.
